You gotta love road paving, I have the 555 model she rocks. nice when you have drivers who stay straight in the paver,or they don't drift out. I always tell the drivers to lose chain the gate so on the longer over hang trucks it doesn't lift the Tandoms,up and off the ground. I also warn them 1 time if you pull out of the paver with the body up ,I'm signing you out,and you'll never be leased to us again.
Some of the paver operators aren't all that swift either.. Like stopping the machine & not signaling you..Or pushing you out into traffic at an intersection.. I really liked the usual crew I was leased to.. If you paid attention the crew cheif was a good guy.
I just got done watching your video October 11th 2016 I retire from asphalt paving 7 summers ago I used to push that luke all day plus others jobs to do with Paving we quit break in the joints inroads about 20 years ago they turn out just fine long as the man don't run it too high give it a try then you won't have the loose Stone on top of the mat
Well that's very interesting! I see what your saying about that loose gravel, they handled it what seemed to be the right way i mean after all, Its almost been a year now and this road is the smoothest withing 5 miles! Survived a blizzard last winter and now that company has proceeded to work on other jobs nearby and boy do they do a awesome job!
This video does not demonstrate "best paving practices", no automatic grade control, auger is buried, broadcasting the longitudinal joint, broadcasting mix onto the mat with shovels, ....They really should learn better paving practices so the taxpayers get their money's work.
HMA is a very forgiving material and a poor mix or bad construction will look okay for a few years and not last as long as it should. Was anyone checking density as it was compacted? Unfortunately most people don't practice the recommended methods unless there is a specification with pay adjustment which are typically based upon mat density and smoothness. It doesn't appear that a tack coat was sprayed either, this bonds the new pavement to the existing and greatly improves strength.
I teach paving classes for NJSAT (Society of Asphalt Technologists) that provides certification if the student attends the class and passes a 60 question exam. It's required for workers on NJDOT, NJTPK, PANYNJ and other agencies and owners that want quality work.

Hey what position is the one with the rake looking thing... I'm 30 yrs about to apply for this work.. thanks
Why aren’t the dump truck operators chaining up their rear mud flaps as they contact the spreader? That’s how they get torn off or damaged.
Why are they throwing the asphalt with a shovel on the already paved road?
Chris Broach sometimes there may be voids in the mat that the paver lays, it fills the little holes so everything is smooth
At 3:17, what happened?

Bob S I don’t know a thing about paving. I enjoyed seeing it. But hey the roads still holding up great to this day!
