Welcome back to Hungry Adventures in Thailand!
As some of you may know - one of my favorite things to do in Bangkok city is of course exploring local markets, and floating markets take a special place in my heart - and there are several reasons for that. Of course, in floating markets you can find the most authentic and original Thai cuisine - local street food, local snacks, local desserts, fruits. Here you can enjoy local vendors cooking and selling these dishes in traditional Thai boats along the canal. Also quite often floating markets are connected with Buddhist temples, so it is a great place to get closer to Thai culture. Today we'll be exploring Wat Takien floating market, which is one of my favorite Thai markets around Bangkok.. and yeah it's a Thai street food tour (travel video) in Bangkok!

“Kra po pla” (Fish maw soup) made from fish maw not mushroom . Khao Lam (Baked Sticky Rice in Bamboo) has a sweet and salty taste because coconut milk is added to the sticky rice.

I really enjoyed your Thai food tasting adventure. Even though I'm Thai, I still enjoy watching foreign tourists tasting Thai food in different places. Sometimes I can't help wondering that you don't have any full time job other than traveling? What a blissful life!! ... :) Anyway, the yummy dish called "Kra poh pla" is not made of mushrooms but a fish's swim bladder which controls the fish's buoyancy. The original dish is probably from China. The Chinese believe that fish's bladder can enhance sexual power and was commonly served as royal food for the emperor. The price of this Swim Bladder depends on the type of fish, some types are priced in hundreds of thousands. Eating in Thai's way, we often add little ground pepper, soybean sauce and chili vinegar. It will make this dish more delicious. If you want to try a really delicious, authentic taste , I recommend going to Yaowarat area to try. Enjoy your trip in Thailand !!

Hi Mickey "Khao Lam" is the food of Thai people in all regions. you already know rice in this case it's sticky rice, and "Lam" is the food that has not been cooked put in a bamboo tube. Then grilled until cooked,until ready to eat, can be rice, fish, chicken, vegetables or pork with different seasonings depending on the region.

I can't understand why people think Durian has such a bad smell. I love the Monthong durian and don't think it smells bad at all, I quite like it. Never tried Palau so will definitely check that out!

Wow, I was surprised you have never tried Ka Poh Pla before😄 It's fish maw soup and if you add some chili vinegar. it will taste so good! As for durian, I only like Mon Thong so far but will try Pa La U ones since you so highly recommend them (if I come across some).

Nice to find a Floating Market that is open on days other than Sat & Sunday. My daughter and I got excited to visit Taling Chan or Kwan Rian floating markets on our trip next week then we realised we are not in BKK over a weekend at all on our trip!
