Hi good job .. I have a B2 with 2 Vfet blown up in one channel .Just the 2SK76 . They are expensive and hard to obtain ..I am planning to replace them for 2sk60 .i have some of those . .Only the current is lower

Another great video! It's good to see how the amplifier looks when taken apart. I can't recall seeing those round can style transistors used for drivers. I think most of the Yamaha units I worked on had TO-220 drivers, 2SA1837 and 2SC4793 or something similar. I recall learning how to graft TO-220 drivers into old McIntosh amplifiers that used those obsolete miniature TO-66 case drivers. The B2 drivers look like they'd run hot with those little heatsinks. Have you found the polyester caps unreliable or just poor sounding? Last question, do you find that the B2 amplifier wiring becomes brittle with age and breaks with movement? Thanks again for the beautiful work!

Yes, the wiring in the B-2 needs attention, particularly if you service the unit. The wire to PSU board connections sometime fail.
The drivers do not really get hot as that stage is merely a buffer amp. A TO-126 replacement works without heatsink.

Hi there. Great video. I have a B-2 I hope to have for many years. Do you service them for others?

@@atelier_HiFi HI. Been awhile since this conversation. So, my B-2 is working ok but I would really like to have the filter caps replaced due to age and really just gone over thoroughly to ensure a long life. Some recapping was done, mostly to power supply board. The V-FET transistors were removed, cleaned and reinstalled with new thermal paste. I would know if you would be willing to help me with it. Thanks! Lou

@@oscar4393 if you already know the vfets are original and that they are a matched set, then a diode test would get you 75 percent of the answer. I plan to do a vfet test video soon. Please stay tuned.
