For those in this comment’s section who are unaware, Fatality planned on retiring after this tournament regardless of what happened. He hasn’t rly felt like competing in ultimate and I don’t really blame him. Nonetheless, he made a video about how his motivation has dwindled before this smashcon even happened.
Seems hypocritical to even compete then.

It’s just the amount of trash Ridley’s u fight in quick play made people think he was actually just a terrible character n couldn’t do anything I feel like falcon should be a bad or complete losing matchup for Ridley but it truly shows practice makes perfect ult is a game anything can happen

His content making career crumbles with his retirement. He's flirted with this idea before, but always ends up coming back. It's clear Fatality has been having issues with this game for the past two years, and when he's back, it's half heartedly. Kinda sucks that everyone can just camp him out so easily so he is guaranteed to have a character crisis. I expect him back at any rate.

I love fatality, but the reality is he won’t be able to be a variety type content creator. IMO, he just doesn’t have the personality. When he plays anything other than smash he hovers at like 15 viewers. I think a retirement from Smash is a retirement from content :(

I don’t think people understand how long Fatality has been actually playing competitively, especially in a game where the Meta is changing. Players changing the fundamental understanding of them, as for Fatality and Falcon, Falcon must be ready to understand near default play styles to certain characters in order to get better winning conditions.
So it’s really a combination of the two, people are getting better, and the enjoyment factor for Fatality is not there.

I think Fatality's true down fall as a competitor in ultimate happened when he gave up on falcon as a character. Falcon is still really solid and Jogibu/Sean are still showing it. But all Fatality ever does is complain about Falcon's viability and how he loses every match up in the game

It’s just that since fatality is the most popular falcon player and he’s overall super dog water at the game. People see that and think falcon is bad plus him saying it too doesn’t help. Even though it’s literally a skill issue on fatality’s part.

This character is SO GOOD yet NOBODY talks about him. If you don't have tools to force Ridley to do the approaching, you are done for.
I love playing Ridley, but I think he's mid at best. His disadvantage is trash and he's too big for how light he is. (He's not actually light, but he's way lighter than he should be.)

Remember back in Smash Con 2019 where he also played against a Ridley with Plup and totally annihilated him. Now in 2023, history repeats but isn’t the same result. Kinda sad to see Fatality kinda become a buster competitively, but hey, what ya gonna do.
He pretty much retired so this was his last tournament and his motivation has been sapped.

He thought Falcon won the matchup before Ridley got a few buffs in one of the later patches then he said they probably go even now.
Falcon can combo Ridley like crazy while Ridley's edgeguarding/ledgetrapping are extremely potent against Falcon. Ridley also has pretty non-committal moves like f-tilt and nair that are obnoxious for Falcon. Plasma breath is very deadly against recoveries like Falcon's. Imo it's 55-45 in Ridley's favour

Unfortunately, even with how great Fatality’s fundamentals are, the game just isn’t favoring him anymore. It’s tough to see such a smash icon retire, but I think it was just bound to happen at some point, sadly.

If you love competing from time to time, without training that much, that's more than ok. If you want to be serious and train hard to win, that's ok too. If you still lose despite training, even that's ok.

If you press the shield button before hitting the ground, you get to do a fast getup, either left or right or in place.
If you tech a wall, you cancel your knockback/stun

Falcon has an advantage in everything except edgeguarding. That's why Creepooba edgeguarded him so often.
I think so, he’s got pretty good disjoints, tools to gimp and edgeguard falcon, and tbh falcon doesn’t really have much of an approach aside from his speed.
Its 100% +1 for ralcon, fatality made so many mistakes, and coopa played way better. deffo not a matchup thing. everyting falcon has works on ridley. skill issue sadly
