- An ancient Zen challenge... Interesting way to wrap up our playthrough of Wii Fit, that's for sure. And yes, the fail at the end was on purpose. I still haven't quite picked out a game for my next playthrough just yet. But I will soon. Enjoy!

That's right. Every time I try to maintain better focus, my butt starts quivering, and the balance board detects my quivering movement, and that's one reason why the sudden "CUT!!" comes up, and although I'm trying to get used to it, it still frightens me to this day.

When I played this, seeing the moth kill itself I just sat there and stared at the corpse .

@@Mogelsvamp My best score right now is 144 seconds. I'm improving this game, because 10 years ago, I played this game for the first time, and I didn't know what to expect. When that freaky-looking Zainab and sudden shout "CUT!!" came up out of the blue, it freaked me out so much. I was scared of this game for the next 10 years. Now I'm watching the jumpscare on this video so that I'm not as scared as I used to be.

The “CUT!” startled me a bit as a kid, but after that, I found it really funny.
And so, whenever I played this game, I deliberately moved about so that it would happen.
Also, the version that I have says: “This ends our session” rather than “And that’s the end”.

I think that might be because you have the PAL version, where Lotus Focus is called "Zazen"

I laughed hysterically at it cos I thought someone got smacked from that noise, so whenever someone in my house made a noise at night I walked over to them in the morning and yell cut, and smack them over the head.
It was all fun and games until my dad got the belt 😅

Just imagine this, with stereo headphones, or a surround sound system.
A surround sound makes it scarier.
To tell the truth, this game was my childhood fright! When I first played this game, I was unaware what it was about, so I had no idea what to expect. I did sit on the board following the directions. But then, when I lost focus, the Zainab and the sudden shout "CUT!!" came up from nowhere, and it scared me so much! Actually, I got so scared that, though not figuratively and literally, I shit myself! After 10 years of fearing this game, today I'm coming back to it to face my childhood nightmare enducing fear! Though the jumpscare still makes me yelp every time it comes up. Whenever the fire on the candle starts flickering, I know that's what comes next. Could be any second within! But who cares?! I'm not so scared of this game anymore! Plus, I'm getting better every time!
The CUT used to scare me a lot. Now I find it really funny whenever he says it. This is also a perfect minigame to distract your friends while they try to relax lol.

the sounds were so scary to me so i would never look at the tv while i was playing the game so i never knew what the video looked like past the start. i just looked it up so i could know.
I was scared of this game so much for 10 years. I don't know why they put something scary in some Wii-friendly game which features our Mii avatars. It surely scared young gamers, who are eventually over it, like I am now.
If you close your eyes while playing this game, it makes it even more frightening. So I wouldn't do it.

Ok let’s talk about something. When I was younger, (around 4 or 5) my parents got me a wii and it came with wii fit. Another thing. I was born practically blind in my left eye, making it very hard to see, and everything was just a noisy mess of blurry colors for me. So, naturally, I remember finding myself playing this mini game, and when he said *”CUT”* it was basically a dark mess of colors shouting that in my face. That fucking set me off. I was scared of this game for about 7 years and even now it gives me ptsd. Also, how did ending a game with “ａｎｄｔｈａｔｓｔｈｅｅｎd.” Sound child friendly to nintendo? That sounds like something you would end a horror movie based on a real story with.
Yeah. Everything about this minigame is unsettling. For a family-friendly exercise game, I can't believe Nintendo got away with this.

I know what you're saying; it scared me the first couple times I played it, and I avoided it for 10 years. Finally, I came back to face my fear, and it's fine, but the sudden "CUT!" still makes me jump.
Fun Fact: The guy at the end isnt saying "CUT!" but instead saying "KATSU!". In this instance, Katsu is used as a verbal declaration of discipline or failure within students in Zen-Buddhism practices that this mini game was inspired from.
I think the reason so many think this is so creepy is because of the company and the games they make. Nintendo has always been know for it's bright colorful kid friendly happy games. So when your on the wii fit menu it just seems like normal happy Nintendo until you click on this mini game and it's dark dimly lit and no music with the only sounds being the candle,outside noises and creaking of floors from footsteps or running and just some genuinely scary noises. There are even some rare noises that I have heard that they might as well be jump scares. Also the fact that you can't move and it feels like your just locked in place and you are anticipating the man to yell at you. It's just a massive shift in tone for Nintendo games and that's what makes stuff like this in Nintendo games so scary I think.

The backstory behind this is theres a creepy guy in your house, thats why those footsteps are happening. He let the moths in when he came in the house. If you move, you get found and you die. Thats why he says CUT cause hes gonna cut you up.
Thats what 7 year old me thought playing this. This is what I still think is happening here.

Let's be fair, jumpscares like this game can be too much for kids. Once you get older, maybe not so much, but yeah, the last time I tried to play this, I turned the volume all the way down, sat as still as possible and still nearly got the heart attack from the *"CUT!"* part.

Dude, guess what? You're on almost exactly the same page as me! 10 years ago, the first time I played this game, I also didn't know what to expect. When it shouted "CUT!!", it scared the living daylights out of me! So much, that for those 10 years, I stayed away from the game. Today it's not as scary as it used to seem to me.
