  • It's been some time since we introduced our Mitsubishi Lancer GSR. We'd like to utilise the car more, potentially in a motorsport environment. Previously we've had fuel surge issues when running the car in a circuit environment. Eager to go run the car again, we decided that a fuel system upgrade was required.
    Whilst piecing our list of fuel parts together, we also sourced a new set of tyres more suitable for the car. The Lancer has always used Potenza Adrenalin rubber. These have worn well, but at the track quickly lose grip after a hard lap due to overheating. With that in mind we paid a visit to Bridgestone, where the guys offered up a set of sticker Potenza RE-71R tyres.

    Is it a good idea to place the surge tank somewhere safe in the engine bay?

      You can but be mindful of heatsoak through the aluminium tank. XR6 turbos are usually mounted on chassis rail near firewall basically as low down as possible

    Hey guys can you please replace those standard hose clamps with the correct efi hose clamps ,its for yours and the cars own good as standard clamps will eventually cut the hose with a big potential for a fuel fire

    i can agree and understand that there isn't much of an option to locate the surge tank...but to me just saying,placing it close to the wheel may not be such a good idea,during a track run anything can happen you don't want track debris or worst hitting that tank

    Worked on many fuel systems in sports cars over the years, always thought those little fuel sumps were silly and useless... thought they must have been a safety item, never thought of them being there to stabilize availability of the fuel supply.

      E85 can smell through those rubber hoses. The Teflon hoses wont.

  • @slws14

    That should used EFI hose clamps. The standard clamps cut into the hose.

    • @andrew8502
      @andrew8502 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      slws14 they were efi clamps

    • @slws14

      Efi clamps are smooth no serrated donkey

    • @andrew8502
      @andrew8502 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey numb nuts, they are EFI clamps. look carefully. The ribbing is raised on the outer face so they will not cut into the hose like normal radiator/rubber hose clamps.
