    The Himalayan is truly what a bike should be.simple.basic.rugged.robust and without any modern electronic jargon which is more of a bane than boon.With a few mods its ready for any terrain.ive done a few mods on my himalayan here in Mumbai-India.Engine:-Motul 15W50 4T-300V fully synthetic engine oil.NGK iridium spark plug.K&N air filter.Royal Enfield Thunderbird X clutch cable.Heidenau k60 50/50 tyres filled with nitrogen and this baby can take you everywhere.roads or no roads.Also to raise the handle height use the stock handle raiser for up&down with a himalayan sleet handle which is slightly longer.gives confidence.enhances handling and ideal for bark busters(does not touch the visor while turning)

    Just took delivery of my Himalayan Sleet special edition last month here in India, perfect motorcycle for almost every situation, lighter than the bullet and classic, enough torque, sufficient Power,it even comes with two huge removable panniers and there's even a compass integrated into the instrument console. RE has also improved a lot in after sales and services, eagerly waiting for the 650 twins to hit our market.

      DHARMENDRA DEWASI it cost me almost 2.3 lakhs in Guwahati,the panniers come as standard you don't need to get them separately. Only 500 units are made and you have to book it online

    As a guy looking to return to riding in the near future after an absence of a few years, I can say I feel like a kid on Christmas morning when I think about this bike. I love the thoughtful decisions they've made and the incredible versatility I've seen demonstrated on TH-cam. Couldn't agree more with the soft luggage choices as well, minus the axe and shovel (although the zombie apocalypse may give this build new life). One thing - ya'll may want to update the video since there are now some quality side rack options...that you sell! Lol. I'd love to see what's the latest with this great little bike.

    Went and looked at these today for the first time and I love the simplicity and functionality. A sound design with great potential. My buddy and I have been looking for something like this and it fits the bill. We are looking at doing the TAT and the COBDR and this bike might be a winner. Still love the Africa Twin but it is a big machine with a big price tag. You could get one of these and option it out and still have around 6-7 k. total.

    I'm currently torn between this for 4k or an older bmw f650 Dakar, I plan to tour the UK wildcamping with minimal gear keeping off the motorways so speed isn't a real issue as I'm currently using an old xr250r but a bike that would cruise 70-80 mph would be nice and from what I hear thats about maxed out for the Royal Enfield, maybe I could sacrifice speed for my new slower way of life as I do want to take in the scenery and sights of England,Scotland and Wales but... that will leave me left behind when going into Europe with the lads as we usually cruise at 110mph through Germany and Italy but I guess I do have my touring bike for that (old zzr110) ... Its one of those Init.. One more bike for a different use. As much as I like ragging around the mountains in the alps at high speed there's something calling me about the Enfields classic utilitarian look , I'm no spring chicken at 40 and now prefer talking to the old guys at bike shows rather than the wankers in shorts and t-shirts on the gsxr's so maybe the Himalayan is down my street ... I think I need to take a demo bike out for a rip to get a real idea to see if its what I want .. I just don't want to be selling it six months down the line because I'm a rush hour hazard with trucks trying to overtake me coz I cant keep up with traffic... Not an issue on the f650.. or any other bike (expect my xr250r) but that can go anywhere so makes up for it .. If the Enfield had a slightly higher cruising speed without spanking it and it still had the kick start id be in the showroom now pulling the guys arm off to shake his hand and offering the shop lots of screen time on my channel.

    The Kawasaki versys-x 300 is still the king in the United States. Jump on some of the Forums sometime and you will see that we are screaming for new products. You follow the owner of a motorcycle parts place in Indonesia on Instagram that makes crash bars skid plates headlight guards rear mud guards rear racks and bird beaks you should make a deal with him to import some of his things I believe they would fly off the shelf like some of the other stuff that you can't keep in stock for this bike.

  • @AlpineMoto

    Liked your idea to maintain the bike light weight and perfectly utilizing the space to accommodate the luggage.. Especially those tool tubes.. Where to get them from?
    I wish the front mud flap be attached to the front side frames or that can be easily modified, so that it stays intact. Therefore, can add some soft luggage on to it.

    RE in India is notoriously infamous for its unreliability. Its like Loki. You never know when it may unexpectedly stab you during your solo night ride sometimes in the middle of nowhere. However, there is something that makes this motorcycle attractive. Even I am a RE fan. Cant dare to go on a tour on it though.

    "The basic motorcycle sells for $4500..." Really? Who sells it for that price? All the REH owners I've heard from have paid anywhere from $5200 to over $6k. Dealerships tack on a whole bunch of "fees". Some dealerships are charging for PDI that they claim they have to do, while Royal Enfield themselves have said that every bike delivered to the US goes through their own PDI center. Most manufacturer's advertise their MSRP with the caveat "dealer may sell for less". Looks like Royal Enfield should say "dealer will sell for more".

    • @twistedthrottle
      @twistedthrottle  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      MSRP on the REH is $4,499. Basic fees and taxes are understood and come along with any new motorcycle purchase, regardless of the brand.

    This one bike can be easily used and abused multiple times and then can be fixed with a hammer.

    Personally I'm big fan of twisted throttle. You guys feel what a Biker needs. Himalayan is most comfortable motorcycle available in India but I personally don't recommend anyone to spend money on this bike, reason Royal Enfield is outdated in terms of technology and reliability. RE motorcycles are popular because of classic looks else it's no value for money. One might end up replacing engine parts even before completing 5000 kilometres on these motorcycles. Siddharth Lal CEO of Royal Enfield motorcycles has spent hell lot of money in renovating showrooms and making advertisements; but did nothing to improve reliability of engine & mechanical parts fitted in RE motorcycles. If you're a mechanic yourself and like to sit frequently to fix your bike then I would say go for Himalayan.

      @vishnumohannair8791 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      RE always triggered violent reactions in Indians. The reaction is extremely negative from customers who bought the Himalayan for its looks.

  • @Dude_Virus
    @Dude_Virus 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Not sure how different the overseas model is, the one in the indian market is not reliable. RE reliability is going down the drain constantly.

    • @twistedthrottle
      @twistedthrottle  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hard to know how the Himalayan will do since it's so new, but there are a bunch of changes and refinements for this version. We didn't put a lot of miles on our bike but it worked perfectly.

    • @norsefalconer
      @norsefalconer 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      To help eliminate issues in the US market, RE is shipping to a quality control center (in the US) before sending them out to dealers. The head of US Distribution says they send back (to India) any bike they can't make right. Plus, they are offering a 2yr, unlimited mile warranty. I'd say they're trying pretty hard. Plus the US got the newer FI version. I just wish "ours" had the ABS (switchable preferred) as well. In any case, not bad for a brand new $5K bike. I think it makes for a pretty nice "handshake" to introduce new riders, or (street/trail) riders to the ADV world without a huge investment. Especially us short folks 😉

      Thejus Surendran I have and it's still not upto the mark. RE quality has gone down the drain so much. I have moved on from RE, sold my thunderbird and upgraded to a Harley. No doubt they are expensive but quality and reliability.

    Don't fall for it RE is the most successful rip off company in india. if you want to buy a cheap indian bike There are better companies in india. bajaj is a good company they are not the best in the world but they are trying and improving. TVS is also good but they have only one bike ( 4500 USD for that thing So funny. in india it costs 2294 USD and nobody is buying )
