Another great job Russell. This looks the perfect stove. You've considered sitting on the ground and the dimensions accordingly. I wish I had these measurements so I could properly build this stove to do the same to help the poor in my dad's village in Pakistan. I know it might be complex but, would it be possible to give me some measurements?
This is an earlier prototype still using our J curve stick feeder design. It works very well and is extremely efficient, but we ended up changing to a duel chamber combustion box process due to customer feedback. The duel chamber allows for larger fuel and longer burn times between feeding, however is not quite as efficient as this J style stick feeder. The other benefit of the duel combustion chamber is that we managed to incorporate pre-heated primary air which offers a hotter and more stable combustion process (less up and down of temperature as with the stick feeder model). If you send me an email we can talk about how to get stoves to Pakistan. russell@himalayanrocketstove.com
I am super interested as I am a pro environmentalist if that's even a word. My research has led me here. I am interested in being an agent for your stove here in North East. We use a lot of firewood for heating and cooking and that too very inefficiently. I am glad you have started this initiative. I'll be ordering a unit very soon and if it is as efficient as your videos shows I will want to do some business with you. Please guide me on which model I should be buying. For both heating and cooking.
Hi, great to hear from you. Please contact our admin team in Parwanoo, HP on 9805126096 with regards to your interest in being an agent for the NE region. We are keen to open up this area with support from locals in the right places.
Please view the website ( www.himalayanrocketstove.com ) for full details about the current range of stoves (now in 4 sizes with a range of options) or call our sales team in Parwanoo (HP India) on +91 9805246096 for details.
Couldn't you use mud or brick sides and base, then only use steel for the cooktop? That would being the cost of the stove down quite a bit. One or a few persons could be trained and have forms for building mud body of stove and only the top and pipe would need to be purchased.
Hi and thanks for your input. The objective of this "stove" is to radiate heat into the room primarily and secondly to provide for cooking on top, so the mud construction wouldn't work in that context. I have used mud stoves that are designed specifically for cooking... you can see some of that work here: www.smokelesscookstovefoundation.org and also some of the other design work here at: www.rocketmandesigns.com
Online prices for India are on the website here: www.himalayanrocketstove.com however we can only deliver these inside India. We have dealers in Nepal and Bhutan at this stage, but not Pakistan yet.

Yes, it is true these stoves are more expensive than a simple bhukari, due to the amount and quality of the materials involved. The cost savings from reduced fuel usage will help to alleviate the initial up front purchase cost, and the quality of the heat is well worth the extra expense. We have sold more than 5000 units and our customers are overwhelmingly positive about the results.
I'm not sure why you think this is misleading in any way. It's an older video that shows an early prototype of an idea that has since become a product that has sold more than 5000 units to people who are happy about reduced fuel consumption and reduced smoke pollution. They don't care about BTU's, they care about clean and efficient useable heat for home warming and cooking. There is nothing misleading about any of that, it's a simple, measurable and observable fact that our combustion heaters work as described. In fact they are now being independently audited by South Pole for Carbon Credits due to the reduction in wood harvesting from forest reserves. These credits will be allocated towards subsidising the cost of the units to make them more accessible to lower income groups. That is not something we can fake as the audit process is extremely rigorous and demanding. So thanks very much for your ill informed comment, which seems to be "total frac", whatever that means.
@@Rocketmandesigns The misleading part is that you do not disclose or even mention the BTU rating or the efficiency of burning a given weight of wood but you always show a meaningless stove heating temperature. I think the efficiency of your stove design in all working conditions averages 70% efficient. it is BS on your part saying the users don't care about BTU, of course, they don't care because don't know any better. furthermore, why don't you save the planet and try to market your stove in the real world? Please stop your nonsense regarding carbon credit for wood-burning stoves don't be an idiot. cheers
@@adobo6905 I'm not sure what or where you think the "real world" is. The (more than) 100 million people who live in the Himalayas and who depend on biomass for heating for survival certainly seem to be part of a "real world", as far as I'm aware. If you're so keen to "save (a different part of) the planet", then by all means, please do. You have my best wishes!
Russel, you are a great engineer it's an impressive design.
Thank you Sir, appreciate it!
