Hello. On garmin explore , you mentioned it shows a straight line from one point to another, when doing that, does it show a compass that shows the direction of the point ? Because this feature is great for the desert where you can't have a proper route using the navigation as the dunes changes with time, but what we use is that straight line (bearing) & the compass that shows the direction of the next point. Please check if it shows the direction in the compass & the map at the same time because that is a a solid reason for me to buy the device
Yes... it you press the tracks button on the main screen it will show a compass that points you straight to next waypoint. The XT is very suitable for use in allroad/desert environments. Note sure about compass combined with map though.
Let's say we have a Garmin Zümo XT and a smartphone with spotify on it. How do we listen, through our bt wireless headset, to both the GPS and spotify?
Does it loads more then 29 via points without splitting the route in 2? Also, can you reverse the rote on the unit? (like when you reach the destination and want to go back thru the same via points). If I'm off my custom route, at what point it will return me back on route: at the nearest section, nearest via point, or end of the route? Thanks.
you need to know the differende between via's and shaping point. You can have a max of 29 via's and between a via's you can have 125 shaping points. We often use via's when we intended to use shaping points. You can change those in basecamp. I have also seen that the XT, dependant on the source of the route, will offer to convert a route with more than 29 via's automatically in shapingpoint, without splitting. If you have a track based route this issue does not exist. Also: you can easily turn around a track based route.
Thanks. I get the shaping points thing. But what about my other 2 questions? My wife has Garmin Drive 5.1 (car nav) and I think they share the software. I experimented using it for custom routs on my bike. Doing almost what you describe here (besides weather and winding roads option), but in terms of navigating it's not friendly.
@@FxRiderST Sorry... I only answer one question at a time. ;). (I answered the others questions too, bu we are talking about the zumo XT. The answer does not apply to the Garmin drive; the drive does not support track based routes.
Great explicative video! I watched also the 3 parts with only Dutch subs, but I still can't understand if the Zumo XT has a powerful Waypoint/Route Manager like the Montana. Will it be able to import a detailed Basecamp File with lots of Waypoints and Icons?
Just like the previous zumo's of course it's possible to load routes made in basecamp etc. However: the chosen icons will convert to a heart-shape; unless you use explore to transfer waypoints.
@@MrGPSnl oh, so Explore can't properly load the icons from Basecamp? This is so absurd, I can't understand why Garmin has so many bad software decisions.
Hi, First of all, i apologize but i don't speak dutch. I own the 595LM but i'm not very happy with it: it's slow (turning on, connecting to the satellites and calculating custom tracks with several waypoints) and in really bright days, it's simply terrible. Is the XT really considerably faster, and easier to view on really bright days? And what you didn't like on it? I was almost making the change to the TomTom Rider when i received the newsletter from Garmin about the XT, which made step back with the decision to try TomTom but, honestly, i'm a bit afraid of making the same mistake on spending money on something that could, and should be better. Garmin seems to didn't care about motorcycles GPS for a long time and i also share your opinion that they released the XT due to what TomTom is achieving. Now, will this be the real 595LM or are they planning to release an even better (and more expensive) unit besides the XT? Other thing that i would like to know is about the processor and (how much) RAM the XT uses, and also which wifi and BT standards come with unit. Thanks
I cannot answer the details on the end; simply because Garmin does not reveal thuis info. In general however I can say the XT is a major improvement compared to the 595. The review shows a lot of the differences. I have 1 hour of deeper review but only in Dutch...
@@MrGPSnl I would like to see it but Dutch is not my strong (i'm portuguese) 😆 I asked to Garmin if they will release a new one (like they did with the 590/595), for example, XT2/XTZ in order to decide if i buy the this one or if it's better to wait just a little while. Also, the discount you said is only for Dutch people? If you want, i can give you my 595LM 😆 Thanks for replying! Best regards
