Couldn't agree more. Serj and Daron have very different voices, both quite unique, but they sound perfect when harmonising. This song is a great example of that.
Thanks for the reaction. Your german pronounciation was spot on. 👍Like your honesty with what you like, and what not so much. "System of a down - Question!" is another good one.
This is the guitar you are hearing in this intro and the verses. When you say you're happy bass takes the lead it's actually the guitar you're hearing :p
It’s rare to see but there’s band who sometimes have everyone in the band on top of their game .. everyone just comes together and creat this beautiful music and give us something so special ❤
My all time favorite band. Serj and Daron have amazing harmonies. This song is one of their better one's a few recommendations for System. Lost in Hollywood. Science. Question. Well honestly every system song is good. Serj's voice has taken a bit of a beating over the years it's very different than early days.
This throws me back to my pre-teen/teen years. Used to hear them a lot, alongside other nu-metal bands(was all during that period of 99-2003). Really brings back some memories, good and bad ones. This song was one of my favorites from them, my absolute favorite was Chop Suey.
Totally agree with you yet again David! Aerials is my second-favorite SOAD song, just behind Chop Suzy and we seem to be of a like-mind there! It is just a flawlessly-written song and the performances are just great. Again, I am not a SOAD fan for the most part but these two songs are among my favorites of any genre and that is saying something. Great review as always!
14:52 That's so relatable, 80% of my music is in english and with spanish as first language, what comes to me first and make me wanna hear it again is the music and then dig more into lyrics.
I knew that you would like this particular song, cool. Loved your reaction, definitely want to see you react to more of System of a Down. I'm really curious as to what part of them you like and what not. Btw this song is also from the Toxicity album, just like Chop Suey and Toxicity. Me personally I really like this song and it has great lyrics, but I definitely like some other songs by them more than this. If you ever react to their song Spiders put me on the requester list 👍
I absolutely love this song to where it’s one of my favorite songs of all time. My favorite part of the song definitely is at 9:09 to 9:33, I find that part extremely beautiful
Fun fact: the guitar player and I share the same birthday. July 18th. Great reaction SOAD is definitely a band that you need to acquire a taste for. But once they hook you, you're definitely hooked.
Might be their most sophisticated songwriting. When I first heard it back in the day, wasn't sure if I liked it, but it's grown on me. Appropriate score I think. Great reaction!
Awesome track showing the great range of SOAD. And yeah, Serj has an amazing voice, but sometimes he takes it some "alternative" (let's call it that) places that can be hit or miss. The whisper here is an example of when it works perfectly 🤘
He is an autodidact, who never planned to be a singer, he teached himself, tried weird things, some worked, some not, some things damaged his voice. Some people say he is a trained singer, but that's just an internet myth. He debunked that by himself in interviews.
Hey man I recently sub to your channel and I’ve been super binging all your vids lmao. You’re definitely have Great character man keep up the vids ! \M/
yesss, i feel you on the bass leading! I'm biased as a budding bassist, though, lol. I always want more and better basslines. (That's why I love pre-2002 Marilyn Manson, when Twiggy was writing/playing bass.)
@@lil_weasel219 those techniques are also used all throughout middle east especially iran where we have dozens of different techniques and iran and Armenia have great musical relationship and both have had a great influence on one and other
Saw them over the weekend, Serj sounded nasaly and high pitched, didn't have the lower end like this, the harmonies with Daron sounded off. Overall a good show though

Nope, never really listened to System Of A Down in general until now. Hopefully that's not a problem for you, since I can now do reactions to them here on the channel, and not have to skip them because I heard them before.
I also like when the bass steals the main line in the song. That's why I love Porcupine Tree. Their songs Halo, Start Of Something Beautiful, Last Chance to Evacuate Planet Earth Before it is Recycled (a great line for fretless bass), Creator Has a Mastertape, .Dot 3, Slave Called Shiver and many others.
Serj and Daron work extremely well in terms of harmonies
Nu-metal's Simon & Garfunkel in my opinion. I adore how their voices blend together :)
Couldn't agree more. Serj and Daron have very different voices, both quite unique, but they sound perfect when harmonising. This song is a great example of that.
I always felt like it was the success of Aerials that inspired their harmonies in Mesmerize and Hypnotize, which is nearly every song. It just works.
These guys were huge I remember watching their music videos all the time on MTV, haven't heard this one in years, such a great song

One of the best songs in rock history.
That opening is actually all guitar, no bass. I was surprised to find that out.

System of a Down is a pretty awesome band. Love so much of their discography.
I love Serj voice! I really dig his accent! :D
This one of my favorites from them.
I always drank raspberry zinger with honey whenever I got sick, you might try that. It's really soothing.

David if you want to hear one of the best bass lines of SOAD you need to check the song called "Question"
As always I agree with your assessment, and yes, this is one of those SOAD songs which I enjoy
You should check out Mike Patton and Serj song Bird’s Eye, song for the movie Body of Lies, brilliant vocal performance from both.

Keep doing soad songs you won’t regret it

It’s still weird seeing Serj walking down the street now he lives here
Where?
@@Ewang2727 he lives in New Zealand now
Then you have half notes and whole notes layered with the bass and the vocals with that sixteenth guitar progression added
The comment about the bass taking the lead is kinda funny considering thats actually a guitar in drop C, haha.
Love your takes on bass players , just subscribed to the channel can you react to Interpol - the new .
Who won the poll that included Show Me The Light by The Warning and Shatter Me by Lindsey Stirling? Hope you feel better soon, David.
Lindsey Stirling with Lzzy Hale - Shatter Me...but it was really close. Only 3 votes separated 1st and 2nd place.
@@THEDavidHeretic Can't wait to see your reaction, I love that song!
You really need to hear their older stuff…
Toxicity is only their second album?
@@hockeylvr42 Yes, but it’s very different.
(Not saying this is bad, btw)
Agree. Its darker and at times heavier. Also Serj gets pretty crazy with this vocals
Actually that "bass line" you hear is the guitar leading all the song
Serj uses lots of middle eastern techniques and if not fimilar with it could sound pretty strange
