Part of the New Hollywood wave of filmmaking, he is widely regarded as one of the most significant filmmakers in cinema history.

1. Have a sense of humor
He enrolled in NYU's University College of Arts and Science, where he earned a B.A. in English in 1964.
2. Make sacrifices
He became friends with the influential "movie brats" of the 1970s: Brian De Palma, Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg.
3. Push the boundaries
Scorsese's body of work addresses such themes as Sicilian-American identity, modern crime, and gang conflict.
4. Keep going
Many of his films are also notable for their depiction of violence and liberal use of profanity.
5. Meditate
He has directed landmark films such as the crime film Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, the black comedy The King of Comedy.
6. Find like-minded people
In 1990, he founded The Film Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to film preservation.
7. Make your own industry
He's a recipient of the AFI Life Achievement Award for his contributions to the cinema.
8. Make the best of every day
He has won an Academy Award, a Palme d'Or, Silver Lion, Grammy Award, Emmys, Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and DGA Awards.
9. Identify with your work
He has also been noted for his collaborations with Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio.
10. Tell great stories
On April 29, 2016, it was announced that Scorsese was in early talks to direct The General, a film based on the life on George Washington.

There's no rulebook, life is confusing and messy, and we're all in over our heads from the day we crawl out our mothers stomach to the day we die. If a master like Scorsese himself finds the craft he's dedicated his life to still a great big daunting mystery, than that says something. This is what we can learn from the masters. It isn't easy for them either. It'll never be easy for you.

I’m jr sure why your film makers has. One up in my feed but I’m totally engrossed in this Evan! I’ve made several short films in my channel & I will pick back up on that after I release my first 2 albums. This I’m an entrepreneur but I’m a first a musician and then a film maker. The "make your own industry" is great. You don't have to be a Hollywood director to make a decent living telling stories on film (or video). New media platforms offer great opportunities for artists to create visual content for businesses, causes, and individuals. Digital equipment is not so hard to get your hands on, and with experience and hustle, you can build a book of clients and get paid for your talent.
