"counter strafing" isnt actually in Valorant at all , atleast not in the way people think The entire idea of "counter strafing" in CSGO was that while strafing, pressing a movement key in the opposite direction would cause you to come to a stop /faster/ than you would have, had you simply let go of your strafe key. But in Valorant this mechanic is essentially non existent. Multiple people have done the actual frame counting with precise artificial movement inputs and counting frame by frame they found that there is absolutely no discernable difference in stopping speed between 'counter strafing' and simply letting go of your movement key. And this is the case for alot of the more intricate mechanics that are such a main staple in CS like bhopping and server tick rates. All these mechanics in Valorant have been purposely tuned in such a way that they are relatively easy to pick up and understand for a beginner , without the slurry of arbitrary secondary movement properties that they dont outright tell you about, and would inevitably impact your performance in the longrun. But as a concluding statement id just like to say that Yes, doing this in game does give you a very slight advantage in the fact that you are more consistently *on the move* but it does /NOT/ give you an advantage in *stopping speed* which is the whole reason its even called "counter strafing" at all , as you're countering the effects of strafing. But yea, any perceived advantage in stopping speed from practicing this sort of thing is you simply gaining experience and understanding of the games actual movement mechanic timing and being rewarded for it *because* its consistent and straightforward.
Bro, what you explained at 6:20 was EXACTLY what I needed. I felt I figured out the quick step bit, but throwing in those extra random few steps in between the quick double strafe was damn near mind blowing to me
the way he explains things is so amazing, he simplifies it and doesnt overcomplicate it because he knows its easier to understand things if its less complex, i love it
By far the best explanation of this in terms of actual in game senarios. The less known tips like the silent peaks and the max speed range are things i had no clue about
A lot of people would just go over these tips and ignore it because it seems like basic stuff, but in high elo every single possible advantage you can get even if minimal could be the difference between winning and losing a duel, Thanks for these tips and knowledge man! Great stuff.
i play csgo since 8 years, and now valorant. the max speed thing you talk about at the beginning is something i never thuoght of. such a simple thing, but never thought of this:D
Oh my f... god, you just saved me tons of time, now I don't have to show these stuff to my premades, cuz I was just about to tell them about these, you're a legend, nice guide video! I hope we can see more of these.
People usually who usually know how to counter strafe do it instinctively, but I think using a reference distance for reaching the max speed before counter strafing is what I didn't have in mind. Thanks noted!

tldw: (or in case you really didnt feel like watching the ad) tldr of the tldw: Go wide and far back when peeking. its better. shoot on all movement velocity dips. The long version: You appear to be moving very fast if you Take Peeks WIDE and FAR BACK, and you are a smaller target with a larger advantage of movement and cover. If you strafe wiggle instead of stopping, you are harder to shoot and have brief stints of perfect accuracy when your character's velocity hits 0 between strafes like a metronome, and so firing in bursts in sync to dips in player velocity on the W to the D and D to the W is the strat. None of that stop n crouch shit. The counterstrafe is like firing a correctional thruster in space. It slows your momentum faster than just letting go of the key; returning you to windows of perfect accuracy. wide-peek is smoother, less mouse correction is needed to plant shots on counterpeekers coming around corners. Your strafe almost does the aiming for you.
One of the best strafing guides I've ever seen !! Because of this i truly played against the plat players nd thrashed them even when I'm currently at Iron 2 ! It was a custom game but still they weren't expecting such strafing from me !! Thanks man ❤️
The hardest part about this shooting style is being able to track the enemies, especially if they are also counter strafing, it feels impossible, any tips on how to improve on that?
ive been trying to get better at val and this is easily the most helpfull video ive seen., nothing has explained counterstrafing like this let alone movement at all. The angles tip is increcibly usefull too
Pretty good editing. You could get a buddy volunteer to join your game and just stand and record the 'enemy perspective' of what it looks like while you're executing these maneuvers. Then you could edit either half-screens or before/after to show the difference between what you should do, and what you should not do.
last time i used to watch this guy a lot and he was always on my feed , but i didnt login and subscribe and i've been searching him for the past month , and here i am , finally , dude you're goated
I feel like this explains why a lot of other advice tends to work 1) Wide peaks! This forces the player to attain that max speed peak without realizing it. 2) Play with the mentality that the enemy is lower rank than you. The reason this works is because you tend to move faster and not get scared and slow peak. This helps you do the max speed peaks. This video essentially find the base reason why those types of advice tend to work.
this is a good ass guide, I thought I knew all of this stuff but it really highlighted everything I was overlooking even for someone whose played this game a lot.
Thank you very much that was very helpful. I thought you were going to be like all the videos that give common sense advice, but I was so wrong. Keep it up, bro.
Holy shit. Even the bit about max character speed. That never even dawned on me. I'm not a CS go player but I've been trying to improve my skills in Valorant after not playing an FPS game in 10 years. Little things like this make a huge difference.
