  • This panel discussion counters the fallacy that urban centers are dead zones where native trees and shrubs can’t grow. As keynote speaker Dr. Douglas Tallamy says (at 1:48:20), “I think the Miyawaki Forest initiative is the single biggest thing I’ve seen to change that ridiculous notion and get people to recognize that we can get biodiversity both outside cities and inside as well.”
Brought to you by the Ann Arbor chapters of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby and the Wild Ones (native plants), at PocketForests.org.
    Panelists:
Douglas Tallamy Professor, Homegrown National Park
Maya Dutta, Biodiversity for a Livable Climate
Christine Dannhausen-Brun, Nordson Green Earth Foundation
    Neelam Patil, Green Pocket Forests
    Giuliana Casimirri, Green Venture

I’d like to hear what Maya Dutton has to say about plants and climate With Out her using all of these “social justice” terms. Just tell me about the birds and the bees. Please don’t try to indoctrinate me to your political beliefs. Tree equity? That word has been so overused and misused. Just say, “tree.” So much more beautiful!

I think you are referring to the presentation by Christine Danhausen-Brun, rather than Maya, but either way, please explain how hearing someone describe solutions for social inequity (solutions that actually benefit all of us) is hurting you, exactly?

@@Spyderchyld Because it's based on lies. It's bigotry against persons of the Caucasian race. All racism is racism, I don't care what color your skin is! I'll give you an example of how bad it is. During Covid, the Dept. of Health was going to get the vaccine to young people of color before older white people because they said those communities had underutilized health care. However, it was older people of all colors that were being hit the hardest from Covid. The outcry was so great that the procedure didn't go forward. Just one example out of many. The method in which equity, diversity, and inclusion is applied is a farce. It separates people and rewards based on issues that have nothing to do with hard work and merit!

@@SpyderchyldPlease read my reply, then apply it to trees. Ridiculous!
