Great review and commentary. Jisoo is an awesome underdog story. After debuting, Jisoo received a lot of hate, questioning why she was selected to debut alongside powerhouses like Jennie, Lisa and Rose. Some even called her the Blackhole of Blackpink, alleging she didn't add any talent, just a pretty face. She was often completely ignored at fan signings, and other public events. Fans walked right past her to get in line to meet Jennie and Lisa. In those dark days Jisoo was quoted as saying that so long as she had one fan than she is content. Things have changed. Her solo album that came out in 2023 holds the record for album sales by a solo female Kpop artist, yes, even more than those of her fellow members. This music video has garnered twice as many views as ANY music video by ANY Kpop act (male or female, group or solo) that came out in 2023. She was by far the most popular female Kpop Idol in South Korea in 2023 based on the monthly brand surveys. She is an award winning Lead Dramatic actress for her 13 part mini-series and is now the Lead Actress in a high budget movie scripted by an Academy Award winning script writer who wrote the script for the Academy Award Best Picture "Parasite". She is one of the highest in demand actresses in South Korea. Jisoo is also one of the most influential Fashion ambassadors (Global Brand Ambassador for Dior and Cartier), ranked as the most influential endorser at the Paris Fashion Week. Most observers believe she is the highest earning member of Blackpink based on her revenues from acting, endorsing and Blackpink. You can see clips of celebrities at the Dior Paris Fashion Show standing in line to meet her (including Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattison). Charlize Theron even offered to be her bodyguard when Jisoo was being mobbed by photographers. No one is ignoring her now. Yet she is humble and very down to earth. Actually, she is the comic relief in Blackpink while at the same time being the nurturing mother figure.
