His Hebrew name (Yeshua ben Yusef) could be interpreted as Joshua of Joseph, or Joshua Josephson, so the name gimmick of the Jojos still works.

Dad was pleasantly surprised and impressed how much TerminalMontage has researched on the subject to make these jokes not only funny but actually not offensive. Thing is it isn't remotely in bad taste. Not even accidentally. The entire 'joke' is that Kirbo uses his Christianity to curbstomp all of his Eldritch Abomination enemies only to go home and, aside from the usual 'kirbo' things, performs actions that are 100% in line with Christian faith. Namely all the work he does for the Christmas episodes.

But that's the core issue sir. You say Christianity isn't for you. God made you. God, heaven, and hell exist. We are all meant to be Christians. I pray some day you find faith and see that God loves you so much he want's to spend eternity in heaven with you. Where as living your life pretending God does not exist, when you are finally faced with such a loving and pure presence- your only recourse will be to run into the gates of hell and lock the door behind you.
I'm very sure that you love your father here on earth. I'm sure he loves you too. I do see evidence that there may be some sort of “creator” but Christianity is just not for me. I understand the concern you have towards people who are not Christian, such as myself but don’t try and force us to convert. The problem with Christian people trying to convert non Christians/religious is that the more you try to force it, the less we will want to even consider. As a Christian, I find Kirbo being Christian the best type of parody he can be. Especially when it makes complete sense to use the power of God to slay demons. I might be repeating what others have said but I'm being honest as I hope the rest have been as well.
I love the sincerity behind this running gag. Not only is it the complete opposite of most fan-made Kirby "jokes", but having shown it to a number of family members and friends, we all agree there is nothing insulting about it. Kirbo just wants to spread God's love, and he's actually portrayed better in that way than characters in a lot of Christian media.

This is definitely not the opposite of most Kirby jokes, I would argue the reason for its success is because it is the logical conclusion to the running community jokes about Kirby regularly killing otherworldly god-like entities. Such entities resemble that of demons and grotesque false gods. Much of the development of Christianity and even Islam in reality was about excising these "pagan gods" from cultures, equating them to "satanic false idols" and such. Kirby's cosmological crusade against so many otherwordly "Gods" resembles the process by which the Abrahamic religions consolidated world spiritual belief under monotheism. So the logical cherry on top of the long running Kirby as God-Killer gag is that Kirby is doing this in defense of the One True God. Which many of us assumed was Kirby himself, but what has always been missing in Kirby is the capability of creation. Rather, he is God's all powerful warrior, tasked with delivering destruction exactly where necessary.
The "jokes" I am talking about all portray Kirby as a horrific abomination that mutates from his normal adorable pink puffball self into a grotesque demon that devours the innocent.
I remember the first "A Very Kirbo Christmas" video we got. It starts with Kirbo waking up on christmas eve and decorating his house, baking cookies, going out to distribute said cookies to his fellow townsfolk, sending christmas letters to all his friends, donating food, clothing and toys to the shelter, volunteering on the community soup, and it ends up with him going home to find Simon and Luigi waiting to celebrate the christmas night with him. They trade gifts and Kirbo says a prayer thanking God for the blessings and for being able to be a blessing to others... and the video ends. No gag, no chaos, no punchline. Just a very wholesome Kirbo being the best christian he could possibly be.

This is actually a good way to introduce Christianity to a non-beleiver. First, you laugh, but then it makes you think. Several months down the road when you are facing the abyss, Kirbo reciting Psalms begins running through your head, and then you begin to beleive.
Probably one of the most funny, wholesome jokes in the entire series.

@@aerrae5608 we don’t exactly have control over them. The church isn’t a governing body over Christians and it’s for a good reason since we saw how righteous that made our leaders. Maybe instead we should just stop judging everyone in a certain group because of a hateful few (comparatively speaking)?
@@aerrae5608 I certainly try and do that, but many others in our community refuse to purely because of shared religion. A very large group of kind, nonviolent Muslims exist, but many in that group don’t publicly speak out against Islamic terrorism and barbaric laws in the Middle East because they share the same belief system. It’s not good that this happens but it happens anyway and for many denouncing those people is a lot harder than it should be. It is extremely aggravating to Christians like me that this happens but it happens nonetheless. And many simply aren’t interested in political activism and would rather keep religion a private thing and not connect it to politics or acting in the name of a larger group. It’s a vicious cycle of good Christians wanting to keep their faith to themselves for fear of stigma because of the bad ones being so public, and thus the bad ones continuing to smear their reputation in the public eye because the good ones are afraid of doing anything. Christian activism has become a sort of taboo among more liberal churches like the one I attend. Basically, the good ones don’t want to get involved in that sort of thing since they are more laid back in their worship and don’t like forcing their beliefs upon anyone (other Christians included), and the bad ones relentlessly advocate for their followers to be public, proselytize, “smite the non-believers”, and spread the word of the church.
You also bring up the Southern United States, which is where I happen to live, and I am well aware of what you are talking about and it comes down to a lot more than just religion. A very common thing in the Southern US is for young, usually more liberal people to leave their home due to all of the overly conservative politics. This is turn has also created a cycle of people leaving because only the old and bitter are in charge, and the old and bitter staying in charge because all of the younger people with fresh ideas are leaving and thus not voting or running for office. It’s extremely frustrating and something does need to change.
But if this really is as simple as you say, it might do you well to shut up some of the nastier people on your side, like Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris. I know there are way more good atheists than bad ones. If that’s all it takes, than by all means, I’ll get on our cases if you get on yours.
I am well aware of what they would do. As I said, the more extreme churches encourage activism while the more lenient ones try to avoid being politically active at all. Something does need to change, but the situation just isn’t as simple as it seems.

@@aerrae5608 his comments and criticisms towards Christianity usually aren’t too bad. They’re really just surface level arguments that don’t have too much nuance. In that sense, to me he’s like the Ben Shapiro of atheism: a guy who knows how to sound really smart to people who don’t have that much knowledge in the field he’s talking about. But his criticism of Islamic peoples and denizens of the Middle East often cross the line from criticism or even attacks on the religion itself, to just straight up being racist towards Middle Easterners. I’m not even Islamic and I think there are numerous problems with the Middle East and nations ruled by Islamic law, but some of the stuff he’s said about Muslims and the Middle East both isn’t constructive at all and are unnecessarily hateful towards the people itself and not the religion many of them follow. I understand the line can seem blurry at times between the race and the religion, but anyone who criticizes religion for a living should be able to criticize a religion and/or governments based around it without attacking an entire race.

I adore this in my heart, rarely do I see someone not mock God but persist through someones hate, I know it's easy for this man because he's a TH-camr and that already makes you a martyr but still, I adore this man's commitment
I think it’s pretty cool what he’s doing. Terminal might joke around with some parts a bit, but I think ultimately it’s also a form of testimony about the Christian faith. When you get down to it, he’s communicating it in a humorous way, but still exemplifying Biblical teachings in the process.
Many people nowadays blame religion for those who committed evil in its name, while feigning ignorance when they do evil in the name of an ideology themselves because it's for the good of their utopian ideal. It's blatant hypocrisy for the most part, scapegoating something so you don't have to confront your own questionable morality.

As someone who's christian, I don't tend to enjoy when religion shows up in content. I also happen to be LGBTQ+, and outside of my own church, that's not really accepted. Plus most things having to do with religion are solely there for that purpose.
However, the way you've handled it has both resulted in some extremely accesible humor that's not offensive, and some of the most wholesome animated short videos on TH-cam with the Holiday videos.
It doesn't feel preachy, it's just good clean fun. And I respect your ability to use such a polarizing topic in such a graceful way.

Agnosticism is defined as this:
The belief that the existence or nonexistence of a deity or deities cannot be known with certainty.
Atheism is defined as this:
Disbelief in or denial of the existence of God or gods.
Agnostic-atheist should, as it’s obviously a combination of the two terms for people with these beliefs, mean:
A person who believes that the existence or nonexistence of a deity or deities cannot be known with certainty, but chooses to believe (until we can know for sure whether they exist or not) that there is no god.
Or something similar to that
It’s like the opposite of saying “I think there is a god out there but we really don’t have a way of knowing” (this belief, btw, would be agnostic-theism)

I love that kirbo has actually had some effect on other terminalmontage characters. For example, he and luigi are devout, and in the "something about luigi's mansion" video, luigi recites tomes in gibberish according to the subtitles, meaning he's probably reciting a bible verse to get rid of the demon before it grabs mario's painting.
