This really shows how Ace Attorney choosing to avoid connecting the games comes at a cost for world-building, because in this series and this part in particular it really feels as if this world has come alive. I really enjoyed that.
Hard agree. I never appreciated Capcom's policy of keeping future games spoiler-free for the older ones. It only causes miss of opportunities
@debastiansebeste It's also like, just absurd in itself. No one with proper judgment would ever go into a late installment of a series and not expect spoilers for previous entries. That's just how series work.
Furthermore, while other long-running series _could_ pull a "the older installments are discontinued and on outdated systems, so most people can't start there [through conventional means] nowadays" excuse, Ace Attorney just so happens to be the one series that _can't,_ courtesy of its constant re-releases.
At worst they might have a case for not pulling from Investigations 2 because of its lack of an international release. (Of course, if they were to fix _that..._ )
@@yokaipinata1416Given that currently every Ace attorney game, excluding the Investigations duology, is on modern platforms now, they no longer have an excuse for no spoilers.

@@debastiansebeste Well, you either like him or dislike him, and I don't dislike him, so...

I absolutely LOVE the use of "Pursuit ~ Keep Pressing On!" when Lana figures out the whole deal with Lamiroir.
Also I gotta say, this is a great way to tie the AAI1 smuggling ring to the Grammarye incident. Real good job.
For Thalassa's scene I was fully inspired by the scene in Dual Destinies when Phoenix realizes that Bobby was the phantom. I even used the same variation that plays when it happens xD As for the Smuggling Ring, it was just a trick for me to finally give Portsman some spotlight 😈 (just joking xD)
Glad you liked it, mate 😁
As always, great writing. Portsman's participating in the events was really unexpected. Great idea to tie Cohdopian smuggling ring to cocoon's smuggling.
The chemistry between characters is just AMAZING.
Will be waiting for the sixth part for sure.
Thanks, mate! Hopefully you'll like the epilogue of this series too 😁
Now that you mention it, there WAS an instance of a prior incident of smuggling being brought up in the third case of "Apollo Justice" involving the Borginian Cocoon in black market sales that led to the export being banned and traveler's baggage being monitored closely by Interpol. With the penalty for Cocoon possession being the death penalty. There's this theory floating around that the poison that comes up in case 4 of Apollo Justice being made from aforementioned cocoon.
The moment Bobby appeared on screen I instantly knew what would come. not to mention what Fulbright said.
"Lady Lamiorir isn't Lamiroir!? Then who is she, an imposter?!" That's very ironic coming from an imposter.
Ah, that xD Just small foreshadowing nodes to his fate. The Bobby you see here is the real Bobby Fulbright before he was killed 💪

I love how Fulbright is slightly different from how he appears in DD. He's more unprofessional and excited in this video
I wanted to show that he actually managed to learn a few things from watching Lana as time went by (that is, before he got murdered)
What if I tell you this is a real Fulbright. The real one died off screen during Dual Destinies event? This is fan prequel before the dark age of law
Magnifi and Portsman... did not have that combination on my bingo card. Well done.

You know, I only thought of saying it would be Portsman in that post from earlier at the last second. This definitely put an absolute smile on my face! ❤
I also feel like having only seen the Fulbright death video and the Badd's biggest fan video a moment ago gave me a unique appreciation of this installment.
And big move there, merging your arcs together with that nod to Mia's series ;) I absolutely love how you work to make all of your content feel so cohesive.
I similarly appreciate how you worked the story of _Investigations 1_ into this. Magnifi _does_ feel like the kind of guy who would absolutely seek a criminal organization's services to pull off a complex scheme. And I guess the fact Borginia was relevant to both games helped too.
I do have to wonder if you had been planning to give Portsman some sort of big moment ever since he made that claim in an earlier outro, or if you simply saw the chance to point out how it ended up being true after all. ❤
I'll be honest, I hadn't really thought of adding Portsman yet. At the time of his quote in part 4, I hadn't even thought that Lana's team would be the one to discover Thalassa Gramarye xD
So yeah, eventually I decided to use the Smuggling Ring, and at first I thought of using Shih-Na as the informant, but then I said f it, Portsman deserves the actual spotlight for once 😂
The way you've connected all these various plot threads is just... [chef's kiss] Magnifi-cent.
Very interesting route! I really like the idea of connecting the smuggling ring from Investigations to the happenings of AJ.
Glad you liked it mate! I thought a criminal organization specialized in illegally importing stuff could easily be utilized for secretly transporting people too, especially since they were actually canonically active in Borginia at the time 😁
@@debastiansebeste It's a very creative idea! I also liked how they were involved in cocoon smuggling + how suprisingly competent Portsman was. Kept thinking there'd be some gag or rug pull with him, but he pulled through!
@@101Mongolone has to imagine that Portsman would have to be at least competent enough to be a prosecutor spy for a smuggling ring and remain unnoticed for years, Alba chose him for a reason 😁 (in my headcanon, that is. In the game he was quite incompetent xD)
13:24 At first I thought you were teasing Portsman being the one Mia has to face for part 2 of Mia's school years but then remembered that she's going to face someone in his final year so it's not lmao
(But maybe we'll get a Mia vs Portsman though)
Yeah, I noticed that Portsman is the same age as Mia so he could easily fit with studying the same time as her, but yeah. Mia will be facing someone else ;)
Your ability to weave things together is nothing short of stupendous! In one fell swoop you managed to tie several games into one bitesize and digestible package. As someone who isn't familiar with The Investigation series as well as have little knowledge in Spirit of Justice and Dual Destinies, I was still able to follow along with what has been going on. It's nice to see all these people from various games interact with one another.
Fullbright behaved kinda how I expected him to, though I do admit I kinda was hoping he would have a moment where he was able to contribute. I'm still holding out hope that he'll do that in the next episode as it would make his death even more tragic. On top of that, I think he was a welcome breath of fresh air on Lana's team considering how serious everyone is. I would've liked to think had he not been killed by The Phantom he could've helped lighten up the group. He's like a puppy fully of energy. You can't help but like him. But that part at the ending in regards to the autograph...oof!
I truly feel for Lamiroir/Thalassa. Not only losing her memories and being blind on a failed stunt, but being smuggled out of the country by her father, and eventually finding out that she missed out on her children's lives, that's going to be a lot to handle. I kinda rolled my eyes at Marshall when he went in there all gung ho and whatnot. Not a shred of subtly or decency. And you'd think with his tragedy, he would be a LITTLE more sensitive.
It was great to see Von Karma again even if it was brief, and I kinda understand why she couldn't stay for long. Her presence demands so much focus b/c of her personality, but it was nice to see her assisting with this whole matter.
As for Angel...Hmm. It would appear she's gotten very attached to the Mishams. I wonder why that is...Perhaps we'll find out soon and see what's going on with her soon enough. ;)
Take a bow my friend. You have once again outdone yourself.
Thank you, mate. What I can say about Marshall in his defense is, you can guess how fed up he himself is with the 6-year investigation and wanting to crack the case, so he is done with soft approaches no matter who he's facing xD
This is pure gold. Capcom should talk notes from you. I love how everything from other ace attorney games ties in together. Amazing
(Sigh)
If only the AA production/development team were as thoughtful as you are when making these kinds of videos.
Because if all of this were truly canon, I'm certain the AA fandom would be extremely hyped.
The no-spoilers rule Capcom follows is quite crippling when it comes to connecting lore between games unfortunately
@@debastiansebeste Sad though, because stuff like THIS makes the world feel more alive and how believable the ‘darkness’ really had a hold on the Japanfornia Law for practically a decade. And yeah, there will be a part 6 with several stuff, including - but not restricted to - Drew Misham's death, Vera's poisoning and Kristoph's breakdown
Way endearing that Lana has the first pursuit as her phone tone, as stated by others, your management to connect the games is very good!
Absolutely love the care and attention to detail in these vids in looping in characters/events to the core canon plot points that make sense! Totally looking forward to seeing more of these types of stories!
5 detectives to investigate a case that isn't even murder case, this is some good stuff. Kristoph Gavin is a tough nut to crack. Your contents are much more believable than the canon. I couldn't believe Phoenix Wright getting these information all by himself.
(Spoiler for AA: Dual Destinies and possible video idea halfway through this post)
Portsman actually getting a good role, real Bobby helping(though being mostly a goofball), Badd parole and helping, it's all good.
I won't be surprised if (S)Herlock also just randomly appeared and somehow helped.
I love how you also basically connected with the smuggling ring. Man I've noticed so many missed opportunities in the official story though I guess granted it's mostly through one person's pov and they're not everywhere and know everything. But it's cool to actually have people like you actually expand the story and not actually(for the most) not breaking the canon. I say thank you.(I'm so great with grammar do hopefully this makes sense).
Oh and now thinking about it I have a good video idea though considering the plate you already have filled such as continuation of this series, the summoning of Zak Gramarye, more Herlock videos, and maybe more. 😅
Or maybe it could actually could be a part of this series to make it much easier. And that would be how or when they discovered Bobby was dead and replaced.
The they have his "fingerprints" from his body which was discovered a "year" ago. Either means they were able to preserve his body that long to get his fingerprints before they decomposed or they were able to get info but it hadn't reached that many people's ears(maybe due to how busy they are) and only so few know but also didn't notice a dead man walking among the living.
Maybe phantom "permanently silenced" most of the people who knew and maybe at least one was, Mike Meekens, and his grand return.
When having Bobby under suspension, some probably not believing at first. But also hadn't noticed till now Mike had almost been scared of him lately which they find strange for someone acting towards Bobby(which they either laugh or find annoying). And when asked he screamed, "ZOMBIE" or "GHOST" or "PHANTOM". And he's basically he revealed he knew the body found a year ago was Bobby's. Exactly how he knew idk.
And when asked why he didn't tell anyone he's like "I THOUGHT EVERYONE KNEW" or thought everyone "WAS PLAYING A PRANK", or just simply thought no one would believe him cause everyone knows how clumsy and incompetent he is and already knows he probably won't be as great as Gumshoe, Badd, Ema, or even real Bobby.
Reason why Meekins wasn't "silenced" was cause either Meekin was too cautious and can't be discreet or phantom thought he was too much of a coward or fool to worry about anyway.
And everyone's slow realizing "Bobby's" true identity. The painful realization kicks in and I guess you can figure out the rest. Maybe even realize a very few times Bobby acting unusual but was brushed off. Like proclamation that was a big fan of either Edgeworth, Starbucks, or Phoenix but he finally meets them...... He never asked for an autograph. (If this matches with your other video he hadn't met Badd yet). Or something else....
Anyway that's enough enough of my Bobby FullBiased plus Meekins return story. If it actually doesn't happen like this(or at all) I don't mind. Just an idea that just popped in my head at the moment.
I pretty much already have an idea of how Bobby's death will play out, but still thank you for taking the time to share your own version mate 😁
@@debastiansebeste oh that's completely it was mostly a spur of a moment idea that popped in my head. Mostly due to how long Bobby was dead and how they discovered the body was his and I just continued from there. , 😅
And now no one would actually suspect this happening, if they ever read this,😈
This story that's been building up is made me excited for the finale of this story.
And I pray it ends with Lana and her colleagues watching Kristoph's second breakdown in 4K, just so they can all see the "Coolest Defense of the West" lose that title.

Well, a lot happened this video. Edgeworth finding critical information from Portsman of all people and Lana figuring out the identity of the missing Thalassa. I find it so interesting that you can still make an interesting and entertaining mystery story despite the fact that people who already played these games already know the major twists and turns. Seeing Lana figure out Thalassa became Lamiroir after her accident from all the information that was given to her made me think that.
Not a Cassidy Overwatch voiceline being Jake's Hold It 😭😭😭
I was today years old when I finally learned where this voice line was from xF
Interesting
Especially how I managed to understand more about Magnifi Gramarye now. Magnifi is a man who prides on the success of the troupe and the profits earned. Perhaps he had a life of poverty before and only gained fame in his later years hence his attitude
I believed he fired Mr Reus not because of his attitude to magic(He couldn’t care less) but had Roger Retinz ousted so as to prevent his reputation being damaged because of accidents in the show and Mr Reus’s scar would raise questions it was the same reason with Thalassa
However I do believe that perhaps Roger’s bitterness of the troupe is not about pettiness it is more so of the experience Roger had performing with the troupe once he was ousted he had no more opportunity to do so and performing with Trucy would not have brought him similar satisfaction as before
For some extra characterization of Magnifi there's my 2nd part of Thalassa's story "Thalassa Confronts Roger Retinz" where Magnifi appears and pretty much confirms what you say. Feel free to check it out if you haven't already 😉 th-cam.com/video/90w8yDYZJzI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=RqefH-mwcNbpTaZZ
