This song was a inspiration journey and message stating that whatever we go through in life,the challenges that come across our way we always need that person to stand with you and guide along the journey in this world. A brother that will help you no matter the cost. The load that you carry can be shared with a true brother that is able to help you carry that weight of you to lighten the load. Brotherhood and Friendship is always needed.
When Jesse “The Guitar Man” Pillay and myself(Lucas “The Piano Man” Maistry) was on a call one late night and spoke of the hurts and trails we been through in life and how we didn’t have anyone to help us lift that load that we both was carrying on our own. It’s not easy but God was there with us through the good times and the bad times. We both decided to record a song together that speaks to the both of us and decide on this classic song call He Ain’t Heavy;He’s My Brother by The Hollies. We knew that this was the one song that can relate to us and tell the story that we all face in life.
This Collaboration was brought to life after that call and nothing was going to stop us from recording this song cover. To get my dad(Louis Maistry) to play bass on this song wasn’t easy but fun in the making. It’s history in the making and a momentous occasion to have 3 different generations come together to perform this song. We decided to be ourselves and record a live jam session at my home in the living room.Took time to work out everything from the notes and the right timings to the beats and counts.
A big thanks to Jesse for helping me with this jam session from sound to video and a big thank you to my dad for being willing to play with us. Truly inspiring and I will never forget this moment for as long as I live. We actually wrote the notes out for dad to play. He knew more or less but first time for him to play this song in his life.
