Like dude if you didn't look up "kenpachis bankai" in between the 9 fuckn years the anime had ended your not really that into it... Literally everyone acted surprised asf unohana was the first kenpachi.

I know its a small detail, but i hate how no one noticed that Zaraki names his adopted daughter "Yachiru" after Unohana, it shows how much respect he has for her ... and Zaraki doesn't respect basically anyone
Yachiru isn't his daughter( not technically at least) but rather his bankai. She is a part of his original zanpakto form.

For people wondering zanjutsu is the shinigami sword art, and justbto clarify, no one taught zaraki zanjutsu yet, even after tybw, that man isnt the third most powerful for nothing, only behind aizen and ichigo in raw power, and that is because he cannot handle his bankai yet and was never taught zanjutsu like all other shinigamis, zaraki just fight the savage style, just remember when he fought nnoitra in hueco mundo he used the most basic move yama taught him before the central 46 forbade old yama to teach him anything, he practically one shot nnoitra with the basic two hand grip slash.
After this arc is over I’m definitely going to rewatch bleach

Unohana's "Retsu" and "Kenpachi" are anagrams of kanji. Yachiru is a self-proclaimed name by Unohana, meaning the ruler of all sword skills.
I should not be surprised, considering Unohana was part of the ORIGINAL GOTEI 13 as shown from the 7th episode flashback, but yeah, this reveal is HYPE 😍💖🎃🖤✨⚡

See the blood in unohanas face, that's the blood of zaraki when unohana stabbed his throat, so yes zaraki is not imagining things
What i love about unohana's ability is she kill's and heal him at the same time. It's like a never ending torture and will only stop if you beat her 😆

I remember back in the early days. It was common for people to theorize about why Unohana was so feared by everyone. One little detail I remember someone bringing up was her first name. Retsu; 'violent'. Kind of an odd name for a healer, don't you think? When you realize she probably picked that name herself, it makes much more sense.
I love how so many people finally realized how beast unohana is.
Everyone confused about the need to die need to remember the rule, there must have only one kenpachi in each generation, they kill each other for the title, unohana was the only exception till now for reasons.
Nah she's not an exception. During their 1st encounter she won but she knows Zaraki is stronger, has greater potential and suited to be the Kenpachi. Technically she still holds the title. After she leaves squad 11 having the title "Kenpachi" for their captain becomes the norm but in essence they are not. Unohana and Zaraki are fated to fight again. Not going to talk about this more to avoid spoiling even more.
@@S3tsuna1 she did not won, zaraki wom against her when he was just a teenager, the very reason zaraki started to block his own strength was because he started to no want to kill her and to enjoy more his fights, go re-read, unohana says with all the words "you were much stronger than me", if zaraki was losing he wouldnt havt no reason to block himself, the problem was everyone was too weak for him, even unohana, but she still was much stronger than everyone else so he truly enjoyed the fight, the problem is he still was stronger than her and ended up almost killing her, thats when he started to get his mind blocks, so he could enjoy more his fights instead of simply winning he wanted the thrill, so yeah unohana was the only exception, zataki grew attached to her, in their own crazy psycho way, they both loved each other, thats the reason he cries when he oneshot her the moment he release his full base power, yeah you read right, zaraki oneshot killed unohana after attaining back his full base power, he is stronger than the other captains even without shikai and bankai, he only hear the sword calling him after killing unohana, not saying unohana wasnt strong enough to just kill zaraki there, she done that plenty of times, the thing is the self limited zaraki was very weak compared to when they first met, that was the problem or sin unohana was fixing, she knew he became weak because of his attachment to her, she wanted him to use his full power and have full desire to win battles again, the moment he achieved that he became able to easily oneshot her again, and he was even more powerful than before as he was older and had much more battles to get stronger, anyone who read the recent novels know comander kyoraku consider zaraki the special weapon of the gotei 13, he says that in hisagi novel, even yamamoto held him in high regards as he rushed fast to save his life before ywach killed him, zaraki fought against 4 quincies and one them was the impersonator of ywach who almost tanked all of yamamoto powers, and was the only shinigami who did not need special health care after all of that, that is a detail most overlook, anyway in resume, ichigo is the special protector of the human world, aizen is a criminal, zaraki is the special weapon of soul society, and i dont remember who protects the hueco mundo but there is someone.

@@S3tsuna1 she is the exception you forget that there were 9 kenpachis between them, none of them dared to challenge her, she simply got bored or something and steped down from the position, no other kenpachi challenged her after that, only zaraki did, and it was enough for her to step down, she tells it herlself after battling him she ginally found someone worthy to take upon the position of kenpachi after her, so SHE IS THE EXCEPTION, the only kenpachi that took the title from her, the 1st, was zaraki, the others she simply didnt even bother to medle with them, as she already acknowledge zaraki, the one true inheritor, from their first fight, she simply waited patiently for him to show up on gotei 13 to take his rightful position.

In order to earn the title of "Kenpachi", you need to kill the original Kenpachi.
The Kenpachi that Zaraki killed to become Kenpachi wasn't the true Kenpachi.
So this is the real Kenpachi fight. One has to die because that's the point of being called Kenpachi, they are battle junkies and they end their fights properly.
Unohana's poem says it all.
Duel to the death to become the strongest shinigami (KENPACHI) is always LIT AF. to become a KENPACHI the candidate must kill the current Kenpachi in battle which is insane. unohana was an exceptional because she moved into 4th division.

It was clearly a split second between him dying and returning.
I'm not saying she has "the ability to revive someone from death". I'm saying she warps reality in a way where she can make an event repeat itself in a loop, where experiences carry over.
Like deja vu but in reverse, it actually happens and then you think it didn't.
I could be wrong, if you've read the manga and you're saying I'm wrong then sure... I'm only connecting the dots based on my interpretation of the scene.
- It's not precognition by Zaraki because there's evidence of his death, the blood stains and his reaction.
- It's not an illusion because, again, there's blood even though Zaraki has no visible wounds.
- She didn't heal him because, the transition was instant
-- Zaraki would've felt revitalized and wouldn't have thought that what he saw/felt didn't add up. If you're healed after being hurt, you'd know for sure.
-- Unohana would have had to lay him down and heal him, then get him back up somehow, give him his sword, make him grip it somehow, and clash with him full swing and recreate that clash before Zaraki opens his eyes.
That's a huge stretch.
Like I said, it only makes sense if she has some type of ability where she puts you in a loop cycle with a checkpoint, but everything you *experience with each loop carries over to the next loop. So if you get stronger, you retain that strength every time the loop restarts. *that's why Zaraki experienced his death, and subsequently his drive to get stronger to prevent it.
Probably that's her shikai(maybe bankai, just like how Yamamoto could go into bankai before even chanting "bankai").
It's not crazy to think, because there are at least 5 characters with reality warping abilities that we've seen so far so Unohana having some type of ability that breaks reality is possible.

No she's not using a Genjutsu or something like that. Zaraki is in fact at the death's door , but everytime it happen Unohona will fully healed him. She would do that again and again and again, until Zaraki is strong enough to defeat her (when he achieve his Shikai).

1st and 2nd. You can only get the title after killing the current holder. The other kenpachis are only kenpachi in name. It becomes the norm in squad 11 after Unohana leaves. Technically during this fight Unohana still holds the title. If you getting it now you know why they're fighting rn.
