Following on from the video I made a few years ago of my mate Jon in his Fendt 724, Lemken plough and Used Köckerling minimat AMAZONE Ltd. press drill. Here is a video of it in action last week. The land was previously cultivated after a potato crop. There was shallow compaction still showing in parts so they decided to use this setup to drill winter wheat. It only works well in this type of land and it is usually done into the stubble of the previous crop.

Fantastic quality video.... really highlights the type of soil being worked!!! Cool system.... seen it before!!! But I can see 2 downsides to it..... having to refill more often and bigger headlands??? 1 upside is less compaction on the ground.....🤔😃

Thanks a lot, he can do the headlands with this but it is difficult. He normally uses a different drill for this though 😀

He can use this but it is fiddley. Normaly done with a different drill

How firm is the seed bed after drilling? I find our light land benefits from a heavy drill consolidating it.

It does make a big difference. I can walk about and run without sinking. It’s hard to walk on the unconsolidated ground.

I’m contemplating taking on more acres and this seems a good way for a one man band to go.
I can see doing headlands being tricky but possible. I would need to flatten ins n outs before doing headlands.

He has a telehandler with seed bags on that it loads onto

Why plough on that soil? It’s lighter than “boys soil” you could kick some seed into that with your shoe and get 3t/acre.
(Nice kit though nonetheless)
