A full seven years ago IU was commenting on the stresses of having a 'good person' public image.
This may be a bit OOT😅 From dkdktv, we know that IU also used korean idioms for her lyrics. It means that even perfect translations won't do justice to her lyrics. There are many aspects for us to fully grasp how great and beautiful her lyricis are, but unfortunately it can only be achieved if we understand korean language. Even for Koreans, they're sometimes also struggling to understand. Not surprised though, since both publics and professionals considered her lyrics on the same level as poetry and literature works.
I have no idea what OOT stands for, but I do completely agree with you. Doing lyric analysis of her work via translation is so frustrating, even when the translation is good - you just know you’re missing out on the poetry and wit of it all.

After watching both videos and think about those paintings on the green room´s wall, I´ve come to think they actually represent us, in a way. We, as fans, mean well, love deeply, yet we are still, in a way, behind a mask, a kind benevolent one full of good intentions yet a mask still, as much as she loves us and she shares with us we are still, obviously, strangers. That small green room may be her safe space with us, but as time went by and her fame grew so did the fandom, and it is not all nice people in good simbolic masks, the´re many of us who tresspass her lines, well intendedly or not. The planes as a representation of some kind of DM´s might also hint at that time when she confessed in an interview that someone who pretended to be a fan actually scamed her of a quite large amount of money, by telling her about their lives and personal problems she, the angel that she is, tried to help only to discover it was all a lie, she closed her DM´s after that if I remember correctly🤔. The lyrical genius that she is made it an ambigous warning of sorts, for both those who hate and pry for petty reasons and those who invade her privacy even if it is not on the purpose to hurt. Its a call to respect boundries, simply put, for absoluyely anyone trying to push past them. Plus, let´s not forguet the timing of the release, it was amidst the celebration of her 10th debut aniversary, shortly before starting Dlwrlma Tour, so maybe the callin for respect was all that more meaningfull. Us as the animals really is the meeting point between the two interpretations! This song is quite a Bible for the fans... As Tors1e said, IU "scolds" us softly (but not too softly), so if we are crossing the line we have no way out: either we accept that we were wrong and change our attitude, or we end up in the wrong. It's always interesting how people interprets IU's song, like how she doesn't really confirm any of the interpretation either haha which is fun so when I watch people writes or has video about it, I enjoy watching it.
I like both interpretations about the animal figures, whether they are masks people wear, or they are people around her. In the beginning I was satisfied with the DKDKTV interpretation, because in Coin there also are animal masks, but actually they are different kind of animals, so I found your idea really interesting. I prefer your interpretation on the yellow colour in general: the two interpretations abaut the colour are very different, but actually they both lead to a very similar conclusion about her difficult in finding private space. I also like your interpretation of the phones, although at first I immediately associated them with a story from IU: when she was younger, she received requests for financial help from some fans and decided to help them, but then she found that they were scammers: due to this bitter disappointment, she became more reticent in listening to requests. Regarding interpretation in general, IU said she is often amazed at how people understand her true intentions, but she is also amazed to find unexpected interpretations, which make her re-read her own works. I have always wondered how artists lived the interpretation of their work, and I am really glad that IU shared her experience.
Unrelated news! IU is set to star in a new TV series alongside Ryu Jun-yeol, a comedy adventure(?) series named 'Money Game'. The two had previously been in 'The Producers' back in 2015. Ryu Jun-yeol is famous for his longstanding relationship with a former co-star, idol-turned-actress Lee Hyeri.
I doubt it is a comedy. It is based on a mention series about 8 people put together to fight/back stab for the pot prize money that would decrease as they spent. The game only ends if someone dies.

As I've watched both of your interpretations, I think both of you made several points but yours was actually more detailed and informative especially on the colors and props/designs. The curtain turning red on the end kind of worries me though since that means that IU's privacy have already been trespassed. I hope her company continue their aggressive stance against haters and yellow journalism in order to solidify the yellow line and make it a point to the public and the media that it's not just a line for show. I'm just a little bit sad because I think that her strong position not to condone haters had to do something with her first-hand experiences and its effects to her friends around her. I'm very glad IU was able to overcome the obstacles that was thrown her way and made it a stepping stone instead to produce music that brings healing and comfort.
