Nice video! Great to see a college player on the channel sharing their experience. Love how George decided to give D2 a try and something a lot of juniors need to realize...the tennis in college is good at all levels and it's important to find a fit that works for you as a player, student and person. Obviously George's experience in the deuce points was huge. Like he said college tennis really teaches you how to play pressure points. On a side note, my school was lucky enough to play George's FSC team. George and I didn't play, but it was awesome to play against such a good school. Good luck to you both in the future. 👍
It’s been cool to hear about his experience, there’s a lot more to college tennis than people realise. He’s playing some very high level tennis with a team that is working towards a title, which has formed a great culture of hard work and enthusiasm!
Normally i tap out of these types of videos around halfway through but the multiple camera angles, the interview segements, and the constant commentary were so interesting and engaging. It's not just great tennis content, it's a great video.
I LOVE this series. I always ask myself what goes on in the heads of players during a match. Let's hope this series takes off and some day we'll have players like Sinner and Rune do a mic'd up match.
@@TheTennisMentor My club in London E11, Linkside Tennis Club, has 5 astroturf courts and two artificial clay courts. They look great, but nothing compares with the classic beauty of a grass court. I've never played on grass, it would be fun to experience it.
Great match, guys! Fantastic playing. Looks like George opted to go with the mic without the deadcat (windmuff). Definitely will help to have that on in the future to help with wind noise, especially with running around. Other option is to run the mics in stereo mode and record to individual L and R tracks then double in post production. Always enjoy watching your videos!
Great match guys, I loved it! George is playing some high level tennis! What sort of level is he playing? British Tor/low level futures level? He's got a great game and the game to give pro tennis a crack.
Great to watch, especially how controlled you both were and mentally positive! I’m really struggling at the moment with negativity. Getting older doesn’t help! One success story, my wife now understands pronation, thanks to one of your vids!!👍
@@TheTennisMentor You’re right about perspective! I need to accept getting older, but it’s a struggle. Losing to guys 15 or 20 years younger than me, who not long ago I’d beat regularly, sucks! I guess I’ll get used to it . Hard to change being so competitive! Have a great Sunday, weather looks fab!😎🎾
As I'm not from the UK I was wondering, is it normal for you to play on grass in the summer or is it unusual? How much does a membership cost in general and how much more does it cost to join a club that has grass courts?
Generally we play on hard or clay as grass is a less common surface which is not in a lot of tennis clubs. Idk about the membership costs of clubs with grass courts but because they take more maintenance they generally are in more expensive clubs.
I wouldn't say it's "normal" to play on grass in the summer but there are likely more grass court clubs in the UK than elsewhere in the world. In my local area there are about 15 or so clubs (quick scan of league tables) and only 2 have grass courts. We're very lucky at my club as we have 10 grass courts, 4 artificial clay courts and 3 astro turf (and we have The Tennis Mentor as head coach!😁).
Grass courts are a club thing there not like public courts the cost is £41 at Ashley's club so work that out into your money the normal for anyone to play is tarmac in the uk because they require 0 specialist care
@@TheTennisMentor no it would not be too long. We play a lot of fast 4 over here and i hate it too. The standard set to 6 is perfect with normal scoring. I wish the pros did not have tie breakers on the last set too. You should have to break the other player if you want to win maybe it's just me.
court is absolutely beautiful!
Gimme a call when you’re in the UK… let’s hit some on the grass! 🌱🎾🤙
@@TheTennisMentor absolutely!
It is such a calm and gorgeous court. One question, how many balls get lost in the hedge?
@@christianalzmann4327That's where Ashley keeps his bets
- that he'd win 6-4 against tall young guy heading into his prime

Glad you like it, as I really enjoy filming them and so do my opponents. It’s always interesting hearing what my opponents were thinking too!
This is really well done! Fun to watch guys!
So fun to play!! Glad you enjoyed 😁
That was really entertaining and the tennis was high level! Please more of this type of content! Greetings from germany 😀
Glad you enjoyed! I have filmed a few more! Check out my ‘Matchplay’ playlist.,. I have another coming very soon!
Really enjoyable viewing 👌. Love the mic 🎤 😀. Keep them coming. As performance psychologist its nice to hear what a player is saying to themselves.
Entertaining and instructive! Looks like a really good quality grass court, with hardly any bad bounces.
Thanks! We’re very fortunate to have two amazing groundsmen!🙏

Great content Ashley. Thanks.
Nice. George was a bit nervous in a way it should be with your former coach.
Absolutely… I’m not sure he will be quite so much next time 😅
Good Posting and nice watching a good grass match
This was ace. Great camera work and great playing - keep it up!

I love how you set goals befor the match i just go to a game and just think I'm ganna win, no goals.gotta change that.
It’s a good habit to get into… it’s good to go in with confidence, but that needs to be balanced with respect for your opponents ability.
Good stuff Ashley.
🙏🙏
One of the best things was the trash talking! HA
Haha!
Very good video
Thanks a lot 😊
Used to beat me when I was 9, not anymore 😂
🤣🤣
13:13 A lot of talking 🤣
Play the big points well :)
It’s not about how many points you win, it’s when you win them!
I would think another factor working in Ashley’s favor would be playing on grass as George plays mostly hard court in US college tennis.
I thought that too (before the match 😅)
Lovely courts. Where is it??
In Hampshire, UK
@@TheTennisMentor which club bro? Can we come play there??
The trash talk stole the show. Must be very humbling to get beaten by someone who you would have thrashed as a junior.
Awesome
Grass is looking good.who do u think is winning Wimbledon?
We have some two great groundsmen, Graham and Ben (I made a video with them about the grass a couple of years back).
Sinner.
The ball just barely bounces when it's on grass, doesn't it.
I hate the no add points totally changes tennis i think you could have one without that.
Totally agree 😉 would the video be too long though?

How can we trust someone that uses a black over grip
