Thank you for your reaction, definitely recommend checking out the Choreography by BANGTANTV and the explanation by DKDKTV. This is one of my favorite songs, I’m not gonna spoil much but you pretty much got it down.
DKDKTV is your required reading for Bangtan University. One of the beauties of this song is that BTS were singing about something personal to South Korea, but it actually touches and makes sense for situations in other parts of the world as well. A reason why BTS has such a broad fanbase is because they are sincere in their lyrics they open up the similarities that many of us have even though we may think our life experiences are different.
They are addressing the generational gap in Korean society. There's a Baepsae explanation video you should react to or just watch it really puts their lyrics into perspective!
Despite those who seem bent on deeming BTS not to be K Pop, this song shows how BTS is the inheritor of the flame from Seo Taiji and the Boys, arguably the group which got the K Pop movement going in part through songs of social criticism. Seo existed before the Idol platform and inspired a youth movement which in part involved discussing misfortunes youth were undergoing. Baepsae does much the same. It is a masterpiece of free speech in a world of corporate music. I recommend the explanation video by DKDKTV as there is a lot to unpack here. While you were somewhat on the right track until you started attaching the song to the older generations of K pop opining on the younger generations, I think the context DKDKTV provides will really be stimulating and educational if you choose to dig deep.
Okay now you must do "Baepsae dance practice" and "Baepsae Live in Hong Kong ".....and "Baepsae explained by a Korean " by DKDKTV ........It is an important song...A protest song against social inequity even though it sounds fun💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Haha loved it! the dance practice is one of my fav sooo fun to watch. And the lyrics has so many cultural implications! I'd love to see you react to the explanation and their dance practice
I really love this song too. It’s one of their more socio commentary songs, again in context people don’t talk about such things in popular music in Korea, so this is another one of an on going theme they have calling out things they see as wrong. The live is full of aggressive hip thrusts (kind of a visual sexual “fuck you”… but it ends up being a fan favorite because of the hip thrusts 😂🤣). They also end up using the term Bapsea is many songs so the theme comes up over and over so it’s good to have the context of the original song they use it in. I remember Suga said a while back they try to have at least one political or socio commentary song in every album. Fans often refer to this song as the “ok boomer” song as they are trying to explain the current generation has challenges the older generation won’t acknowledge and created in the first place. What a bop!
Omg!!!!!! My favourite song, finally lol. It’s a shame that you got the crappy “watered “ down lyrics. When in doubt check doolset lyrics. Baepsae means crow-tit a little bird with tiny legs, it’s trying to keep up with the older generations that are storks. The older generation judges the younger for being lazy and tells them to try harder but the resources have all been tapped out and the older generation doesn’t want to pay, they say it’s good experience. This has a dkdktv explanation that is worth the watch it is so much deeper than it seems. Also the choreography to this is amazing they move like birds and some parts are very funny. 😘💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Definitely DKDKTV for this one... 😉 Those were some horrible translations. Baepsae means crow-tits which you'll hear in other songs and also the giving up on a certain number of things and the spoon system. The DKDKTV explanation of Baepsae is the key to all those terms.
You're kinda getting it but the thoughts are still scattered here and there..it's amusing to watch you hehehe..you need the explanation video from DKDKTV 😁
Strange, you chose this song( considering that this isn't one of their title tracks or it even doesn't have an MV), its a good song regardless. BAPSAE LIVE is amazing. These guys go HARD
Birth rate is 1% in Korea because of the bleak future the millennials face economically...They have given up on marriage ...owning a home...having children .The Baby boomers caused the situation they face ...but just say they have to try harder
You really caught the essence very correctly about teachers as older generation in general, for sure check DKDKTV explanation video it will fill the blanks for you for sure, cause you are in the right track here ☺️💜
