Hey you got a T1 now? Good times! Very much forward to your take on making music with it! Whenever you got the hang of it, please Sensai make some educational content about it as well, I'd love to see how you use it. Cheers!
The Torso T1 was a game changer for me when it comes to improvising live and jamming out. It's great for modulating CC parameters as well. It's really powerful since modulations stack, like you can apply randomization but still affect the overall parameter, and this even stacks on top of modulations used when using cycles. If the synth that you're controlling has a relative or additive CC mode it's even better since now you can apply additional modulations without completely overwriting the base values. Add to this the fact that you can select multiple tracks to modulate as well the temp functionality really makes Elektrons control all functionality seem like child's play.
Such a well presented overview - thank you for sharing. I'm about to purchase a T1 and this overview has really confirmed my thought. The midi routing explanation is really helpful. Question, within Abelton Live how have you got that set-up, tracks for example, effects within Live and how are your handling latency (if any)?
Thanks! There is a video on Torso channel about connecting T-1 to Ableton, it's very simple. When sequencing software synths, there can be a bit of USB latency, around 25ms, so I just set track delay to -25ms. And there is no MIDI latency when sequencing hardware instruments, in my experience.
great video, would love to see you more diving into hardware / plugins and demonstrating them. this device looks amazing but the price is the problem for someone like me. 600€ is crazy for me. before i drop 600 there are too many other things i could get instead and probably have more value from it
The Torso T-1 is constantly sparking my GAS. I have two Elektron boxes and a Microfreak and the sequencers in the Elektron boxes have stopped me from buying one... but now you've gone and implanted the idea of continuing to use the Elektron boxes to sequence drums (which I also love) but switching to the T-1 for sequencing all the melodic bits... sigh... :)
@@YanCook Totally agree, the OXY One is definitely more powerful but the added complexity makes it harder to use in a live environment. Plus the T1 has dedicated knobs so there's almost zero menu so you get to build muscle memory.

More Torso related content please. Very inspiring to see someone of your level of aptitude playing with those boxes.
Cheers!
Yan, these videos where you demo a setup are super helpful. Thanks!
Awesome job 👌🏼🔥
Good performance Yan. I like your techno music more but this nicely shows the capabilities of the sequencer.
Absolute masterclass! 👍🔥
Real nice
I got a t1 planning on trying it with a push 3
Using Ableton too. Is there any latency at all?
Just got one. Very cool

Very Cool
Not too much latency if you record sequences as midi in Ableton?
@@vagueversatile I just tried that, there is latency, but very little, around 25ms, super easy to fix :)
@ thanks for checking! It looks much better than with Digitakt then for this purpose
How are you finding:
- Bassline
- Ghost (heard it's somewhat noisy, not the best dynamics processor ?)
I'll be making separate videos on those :)
I don't think the Ghost is noisy, the distortion is a bit harsh to my taste but there is MIX knob.
It looks and sounds like the future in there
Is Yan getting a digitone ii?
Not anytime soon, maybe in the future)
Any idea how to humanise chords/stabs so the notes don't all hit quantised at once? Is it possible?
Yes, it is possible by playing around with Timing/Delay parameters, try randomizing them.

Sequencing melodies can be a bit tedious on the Elektron boxes, especially if you don't like using live recording, like myself.
How does it play out with erica synths bassline?
It works great with any synth)
One more question: how do you make it that it follows the pages that’s playing that are longer than 16 steps?
@@ahzootube There's a few way to do that, with the amount of steps, with time divisions and with cycles. There are deep reviews on YT ;)

👏👏👏
The T-1 is incredible indeed, it's so "Techno-instrument" what do you think of the oxi one in comparison?
I really like the workflow and minimal design of the T-1, the OXI One looks a bit too complicated to me, too many buttons :D
@@YanCook Totally agree, the OXY One is definitely more powerful but the added complexity makes it harder to use in a live environment. Plus the T1 has dedicated knobs so there's almost zero menu so you get to build muscle memory.

🧠✊🏻
How’s that even possible ? There’s only 2 sections
It has 16 MIDI tracks with polyphony 🙃
