- Here we go! First Time listening to K-Pop! This was a request and I am grateful that all of you keep sharing your recommendations. I was slightly overwhelmed experiencing a new genre on the fly. Never heard of BTS? Blackpink? Yes, in the news, but never listened to any of them. So I guess I am late to the party and need to catch up.

I got to know about BLACKPINK in 2019 but many more people in my area. but these K-pop fans don't respect them. especially BTS fans ARMY and TWICE fans called ONCE. not saying we don't do things but they always cross the lines and when BLINKS gave them the same energy, we blinks are called toxic. I just want you to know that these women are loved by so many people but also hated. BLACKPINK AND BTS both PAVED THE WAY FOR K-POP.

I said the guitar in the song is studio produced (Which I strongly assume, as I record guitars in studios and by now I can imagine what effects can be done by a guitar alone). I am also sure that in a live setting she can play the electric guitar. In that case it will sound differently 🫡

The songs that DO NOT have a music video (as they do not have subtitles) I recommend that you watch them in COLOR CODED LYRICS, look for it on TH-cam, they are the same songs but with a translation and on the screen they show who of the 4 is singing.

You are right about the fashion show, they all are GBA of luxury brands. They debuted 7 years ago after training for 4-6 years. Now their contracts are over with YG Entertainment, they signed only the group but not individuals. So far Jennie, the one in red, made her own company Oddatelier. Lisa with black apple made LLoud and Jisoo who played the Korean instrument just announced her company Blissoo. We, Blinks, are fans of Blackpink still waiting for Rosé to announce her own company and it is funny that she asked Blinks to help name her company. Please enjoy watching more of them. Beside music videos, there are dance practices, dance performances and their behind the scenes, their world tours, I hope you will like them.

they actually have a award winning documentary on netflix called "Blackpink: light up the sky" i would definitely give it a watch it is a great way to learn about the group as well as a good intro into kpop. Also to answer your question about what COCO meant in the song Jennie(the one singing it in the beginning) is a Chanel global ambassador so in the m/v you will see she is swinging a Chanel bird cage hence her saying waving the COCO because she is always dripped out in Chanel. Also if you didnt catch it the phrase is also a play on words as it is meant to sound like The Notorious B.I.G'.s famous line " kick in the door waving the 44
Rosé ( blonde girl ) was born in New Zealand and moved to Australia when she was 8. Her dad is a lawyer, her sister too and her mom is a businesswoman, she was expected to become a Lawyer too, but, she loved singing and her father allowed her to audition in YG entertainment and she won the audition with 700+ other people competing. Her solo music is so different from bp. She wrote and composed her own songs. I hope you would check em out. Don't wanna stress u out sm
oh wow I see some parallels here😧 I moved from Hungary to Germany, when I was 10, my dad’s a lawyer, my mom’s a singer. I finished Business and European law in college, but wanted to work more music related, so I auditioned at Xfactor, where I went through with 4 yesses. Then I cancelled everything at once as I became a dad and TH-cam is now the closest I can be to music, which remains my big passion forever. hope to find my way back on stage in the next years :)

At first it was a guilty pleasure of mine, wouldn’t rlly talk about it in public but Kpop has become a trend nowadays and is quite popular amongst Asian and western media. Yeah caught a lot more references and lyrics after listening to the song later alone 😇 For a long time I haven’t opened up to new genres as music is seemingly endless and I had so mucb more to discover in just the 20 genres I was already listening to. Getting into KPop knowing nothing about Korea nor their music scene feels a bit dangerous as well, as I have no idea how people would perceive my raw reaction to it. However, I was more than pleasantly surprised to see so many supportive comments, explaining more and more about the meanings behind every scene and text bit, so that I feel much more confident now, discovering more and more KPop, but even further Genres, countries and their music scene 😇

@@marcee001It's really not a shout out song. Just has few references from artists like Rihanna, with the line "One by one and two by two". Blackpink did a interpolation from Rihanna's song called "Pon De Reply". "Waving the coco" is also an interpolation from another artist

Individually the girls Jisoo, Jennie, Rose' and Lisa are superstars but as a group they are megastars. Their stage presence is next level and can be savage but off camera they are humble, friendly funny and even goofy at times. They are all supportive of each other and have a sisterly bond.

Turn on the damn subtitles. BP switches between English and Korean so the words and verses fit the music phrases better, and to promote the idea of learning different languages.
