The bucket fountain is genius! You could paint the buckets and even tint the water. Paint the buckets like flowers and the tubing the stems. So cute!

I've been married since Noah landed the ark, and you and Matt have found one of the most PRECIOUS secrets of marriage.. do the little things TOGETHER. As Parents, it's not always easy to set aside even 20 minutes for just "US" especially things we enjoy.. it's usually adulting things ( we have a 11,5 and 3 yo) but those few moments will be a solace for you guys as the years continue by.

You might be able to use aquarium tubing instead of the jump rope for a better look, but great improvising w/dollar items.
The pump we used is actually for aquariums, so aquarium tubing would work for sure.

I am SO glad that you posted this video. I'm in the process of cleaning up my front yard (previous tenants left hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds worth of trash when they moved), and I've already put up a pool, sectioned off a large area for a canopy and I really want to make a fountain to put in front of my porch and right in front of my home, where I originally wanted to plant a garden. I'm unable to tend to a garden, so a fountain would be beautiful. It would be right at my driveway, so it would be the first thing that you see. 😍 I'm so excited for this project!! I may paint the planters though. It depends on what colors they have when I go to buy them. I'm also doing your DIY ladder at some point as well, so thank you!!!

Loved all your ideas! On the 2 tier fountain I would not use water. Free standing water makes a breeding ground for mosquitos who spread West Nile, Zika, and even Malaria in the US. I'd us large rocks, gravel, sand etc. on the bottom tier. 😊

Matt’s idea is awesome! Maybe you could spray paint the jump rope black to blend in & then wrap the fairy lights around. Either way, so clever!
How about wrapping some greenery around your tubing to camouflage? Once you do that put your lighting on top. Really cool project!

the solar fountains work fabulous i bought 2 about 4 years ago they lasted 2 years but work so good you have to make sure they don't go dry or they will make a loud noise lol....AT dollar general if you wait until the 90 off lawn/garden sale you can get the big $10 planters for just a dollar!!! great diy...also instead of using baking soda and paint you can just use sand with no baking soda. works great

Our Dollar Tree stores here in Southern CA no longer have brooms or mops! Thankfully we have 99 Cents stores that still have them. And just after the first day of summer, garden this were put away, too!
