I currently have a 4.5" ram but I will be upgrading to a 5" for more shear power. Right now it comfortably goes through about a 10"-11" dry tree. 12"-13" if it is green.
@@offgridbc6810 That's pretty fair size trees. I'm planning on making one but prolly won't see much more than 8" or maybe 10" trees. I'm going to be using it for an outside wood water furnace. I plan on cutting them about 28-30" long as the firebox takes 36" length. Not sure how long pieces would split. How long are your sheared pieces? Need to design some kind of delimber, wouldn't have to pickup a saw much then. Thanks
@@dougw7587 I currently have it set to about 16-17 inches length, but my next one will be adjustable from about 15 to 21 inches. If your splitter head is too short for the length of blocks it may proof a problem with longer pieces.
@@offgridbc6810 Hi, I made one but the knife is week, it bent on a 6" dry attempt. I had a 1/2" plate but I guess I didn't have it supported good enough to stop the twist. Do you have any pictures of you knife on the back side & the bottom you could send me? Where in northern BC are you? Thanks. d1966barracuda@gmail.com
Impressive, I need one
what size of log can you shear? What size is the ram you have?
