plug valves controlled by an automatic actuator and pressure sensor are great for throttling water. DeZurik and other manufacturers recommend it. They're cheaper and lower maintenance than a pressure sustaining valve like a cla val or bermad.
Yes, They are designed to be lubricated while in service. Be careful to monitor the pressure in which your injecting the lubricant/sealant. Always consult the installation manual from the manufacturer. Thank you for your comment
