You guys make my RC-heart beat a little faster! Thanks to you two, and the rest of the crew working on this show! Wish I could give you all a cold beer :)
I bought one this month (feb 2014) I noticed several updates this model, all excellent! New color scheme, flaps, prop quad, new spinner, etc!! It was much better!!!
Sweet video fellas. My buddy flew his last weekend. It was tail heavy with a single 3 cell so correct cg setup is a must. In a crosswind take off he cartwheeled but the damage was minor. EPO seems strong indeed.
@CrackerMcGillicuddy Gday from Australia. Washout is where the wingtips have less angle of incidence than the wing root. In simple terms, the wing is "twisted" slighty in manufacture so that when flying, the wing tips will have less angle of attack than the inboard section. This means that when the wing stalls, the wing root will stall before the tip, thus preventing (or reducing) the chance of a wingtip stall. (Not something desirable) Hope that helps you with that question.
I maidened one of these for a mate of mine, it was a good flyer and looked great in the air as your video shows. The spinner wasn't well balanced was the only criticism. You guys should do a segment on setting up the buddy box and learning on a sim for the noobs. Great work on the videos, very professional. No surprise why HK are behind you. Subscribed!
@silverberber thanks for that.i just looked at the supercub and it does look like a great beginner plane. But that spit is soooo beautiful!!.thanks silverberber
Uhm, how's the prop and motor alignment / orientation when it causes a torque roll when accelerating more quickly? I agree on flying it scale though, so I think it might not matter all that much.
Great review boys and good Camera work. I have one of these but net flown it. tho I will use 3000Mah 3 cell, and put a ally spinner that is Balanced before I fly mine.
Great review guys but what did you do to correct the retract servos both going the same direction? I have also heard the elevator servo is way too weak and will strip, have you encountered this yet?
@raz1954 Hello Raz! The retracts require a reversing Y harness or a 6 channel reciever where the sixth channel can be slaved and then reversed. The reverse Y is often used on the elevator servos where each side is controlled by a servo. As far as the elevator being stiff; It is always good practice to flex control serfaces on foam plane to free up the hinges, then you won't have binding issues. Hope this helps friend and happy flying!
HISTORY LESSON: That 2 degrees washout was on the full scale plane from the late 1930's. It meant that the root stalled before the tip, vibrating the plane and warning pilots of a stall.
You guys are good and so are the videos, a bit cheesy though, and if I have left any abusive/annoying posts I apologise now, lol. Keep up the good work guys.
I'm a FT fan but not Hobby King... I bought a Durafly Spitfire 1100mm some time ago, had 6 servo controls and retractable landing gear. Fresh out of the box I hooked it up to center servos and had only 2/6 servos working and 1/2 retracts working... After that, I won't shop at HK. Keep up the FT vids though!!
What is "washout" mean? Also, I have a DX6i and a DX5e and I can't get them to buddy box with each other. I didn't buy the cable from Spektrum, I got a 1/8" mono audio cable from Radio Shack - is that why it won't work?
I think the Spitfire with that lower engine cowl was the Seafire/or the desert version Spitfire/in which case it would be tan, brown or the desert pink, believe it or not. Also without the washout, they will tip stall on a dime.
hey i do really like your shows, and i've got a question ? do you also fly helicopters ? because during the intro you show some helo's but are you going to do some reviews about the hobby king helicopters because i might be buying one some time in the future .
they use a buddy/trainer cable and connected the 2 transmitters. both must use the same protocol. the master is always the transmitter that is bound to the plane
i think that you did not correct the trim on josh scotts transmitter, whenever he took over the plane IMMEDIATLY banked to the left, which was either rudder or ailerin trim, he could have flown it, if you guys had properly trimmed his transmitter.
Aircraft serial number should be just ahead of the horizontal stabilizer, not by the cockpit. An even stranger detail is... I'm not sure what they were thinking. It looks like a Voakes filter was merged with a slipper tank under the nose. Odd detail that could have been left off unless it's there to retain electronics?
beautiful! Josh! keep the intelligent comments coming. you aint an idiot, i prefer the smart Josh over the Crissy Josh. Small Incisions! Josh gets stick time!!!! Simulator time Josh! over practice on it and you'll be flying for all ten minutes.
I have this plane and it's great. Change the ELE servo to metal or it may eventually fail; it's been known to happen. Power through your turns and take it easy on the landings or the gear will fold like butter. Well worth the money on this one :) Also, you guys need to work on your chemistry. Guy on the right seems to hate guy on the left. Guy on the left says 'brother' just a little too much. Other than that, great review and nice bonus demo of a budy box setup :)
The Hinges of my durafly are not moving freely , can somebody explane to me how i can loosen up the hinges , i bended them like 100 times but nothing helps ....
+Jay offninjago23 Definitely not. Warbirds were bult to be unstable so models tend to be twitchy if proper scale. Spitfires can be very tippy - prone to tip stalls at low speed or or high angle turns. Hurricane is more stable for a Brit plane. P51 would be better than a Spit but so would Thunderbolt.
I had a park zone T28 Trojan and boy best plane i own. so docile and comes bnf so all u need is a 4+ channel receiver. highly recommend it. it is also very popular among RC pilots.
Yes. I agree. The E-Flite (Parkzone) Trojan is not for beginners, but it is really good for a first warbird. reason being that it has a tricycle landing gear, less prone to flipping upon landing or taking off on longer grass. a good power system, it is strong enough to do vertical but is also not too strong. and the airframe has an exceptionally wide flight envelope, meaning it will slow down to a crawl, but you can also floor it if you want to go fast.
Strange about the stall. Real Spits had the most gentle stall on any WW2 fighter. Noted for it and saved many lives. Turned like pretty well nothing else as well.
when you connect the master radio to the slave radio press the the trainer switch on the master radio and the slave radio will be tyhe one controling the plane .when you release the trainer switch the master radio will be the one controlling the plane
I watch back through the FT history often, is not only for the music! Too many happy memories!
I love the fact that you guys also film with a chase plane/drone. Gives it a whole new perspective and looks awesome. Great video guys
@sixeris we have 8 reviews so far... this was number 7. We also have updates and Flite Tips.
Thanks for watching!
You guys make my RC-heart beat a little faster! Thanks to you two, and the rest of the crew working on this show! Wish I could give you all a cold beer :)
I miss these old intros, so well done.
@rpottsoh Short grass might be OK for take-off but we didn't have any to test it. We did land it in the grass though. It did ok.
I watched the video again and seen the comment about the retracts, sorry I missed that the first time. Thanks and keep up the great work!
I bought one this month (feb 2014) I noticed several updates this model, all excellent! New color scheme, flaps, prop quad, new spinner, etc!! It was much better!!!
i do like the way you follow the spit with the drone it gives you a much better aspect of the plane and its flying characteristics
fantastic footage with the chase cam, but damn that life giving sun
Great job guys. Realy love your work. Lots of fun.
its the plane that won the war no one can argue, great review
@gastarbieter We use the Canon 5D MKII
Great old video! I dunno how I missed it before! What a nice surprise.
Sweet video fellas. My buddy flew his last weekend. It was tail heavy with a single 3 cell so correct cg setup is a must. In a crosswind take off he cartwheeled but the damage was minor. EPO seems strong indeed.
Are the wings detachable or is it attached permanently?
he says 'two hand', cut to the next frame we see josh holding it in one hand lol
YES, I came looking for this comment XD
Great vid. Very entertaining. Love the chem trails in the sky for added feature.

Excellent work guys. Very professional video!
This is the British Top Gear of RC aviation.
I maidened one of these for a mate of mine, it was a good flyer and looked great in the air as your video shows. The spinner wasn't well balanced was the only criticism.

why do people hate the intro! its great!
Looks like a fun plane. it might make a nice follow on to my apprentice S15e. What do you think?
man, you guys live like in heaven. All the view here where you live
@silverberber thanks for that.i just looked at the supercub and it does look like a great beginner plane. But that spit is soooo beautiful!!.thanks silverberber
Good on you boys...good see see your politeness and skills being portrayed here....Oh I miss my Spitfire!
Good Video!!! -- Whatever happened with the "How To" on installing the lights? may just a real quick clip?
Very nice plane. How do the retracts hold up in the grass? Will the plane take off and land OK on a grass runway?
Wow, incredible quality on the air cam! Sorry if you've answered this before, but what video cam are you using on your follow-plane?
I like the way that roll looks at 7:35
I love RC airplanes especially war birds, what type of RC airplane would you recommend to a newbie?
I started rc stuff last year and can fly my Parkzone UM p51 mustang with confidence. I want something bigger. Do you think this plane is ok?
Harry Scotch this plane is no longer in production. If you want this size Spitfire FMS has one....
@flitetest hey cool camera ;) how do u guys did the chasing cam videos/short's ? they are awesome too
"Any landing where you don't have to walk at all is even better"
@wallaguest1 EPO is much more durable and retains it's shape better.
Great review guys but what did you do to correct the retract servos both going the same direction? I have also heard the elevator servo is way too weak and will strip, have you encountered this yet?

waiting all day for this :D
This is a beautiful model, reminds me of my Dehavilland Mosquito. Could you guys do a test of and A6M Zero?
I agree
You guys are good and so are the videos, a bit cheesy though, and if I have left any abusive/annoying posts I apologise now, lol. Keep up the good work guys.
I would not recommend getting this plane going from an ultra micro but i would recommend the super cub dsm or the delta ray
im still in awe at 9:17
that was close and on target via chase plane footage
probably fpv i would think
Gotta love The Joshes.
Are the landing gears on this one more spread apart so it will land without doing a nose over?
What plane do you use for getting the aerial shots? You should do a quick 1 min and show how you get those shots, that'd be cool,
Josh Bixler, Both Expanded Poly Propylene and Expanded Poly Ethylene are both Poly Olefins, so which is the plane made from EPP or EPE?
I like to see Scott more fluent with more knowledge on more reviews. But still provide the comic relief. Great job and impressive still.
got inspired by you guys, got my one one
They usually use a quad or tricopter to get air footage. And use a gopro for the better quality.
I'm a FT fan but not Hobby King... I bought a Durafly Spitfire 1100mm some time ago, had 6 servo controls and retractable landing gear. @DTXMNS224 We're making them as fast as we can!!!! ;)
I think the Spitfire with that lower engine cowl was the Seafire/or the desert version Spitfire/in which case it would be tan, brown or the desert pink, believe it or not. Also without the washout, they will tip stall on a dime.
I know zippo about rc planes but i saw this andi really want one.Is this too much for a beginner?? any responses would be great.I love warbirds
whats better, EPO or EPS? and is there any way to check if a plane is EPS or EPO made?
hey i do really like your shows, and i've got a question ?
do you also fly helicopters ? because during the intro you show some helo's but are you going to do some reviews about the hobby king helicopters because i might be buying one some time in the future .
I would recommend a p38 as a first warbird.
How did you take over the spitfire mid flight? I am planning to get an orange tx and to train a family member. Thanks.
they use a buddy/trainer cable and connected the 2 transmitters. both must use the same protocol. the master is always the transmitter that is bound to the plane
+RCFlightReviews
Thanks. Where could I get a cable?
can u explain me how to set up the master radio and the slave radio ?
i did connect to other spektrum and nothing respond on the plane =/
i think that you did not correct the trim on josh scotts transmitter, whenever he took over the plane IMMEDIATLY banked to the left, which was either rudder or ailerin trim, he could have flown it, if you guys had properly trimmed his transmitter.
Would this be a good 3-4th model for begginers?
@inciteman It's coming... Prob tonight.
Is this the first review with you guys ? Or I missed something ? :)
Due to the air intake on the bodem, it looks a bit like a p-40.
ahhh, old theme song, i've missed you friend.
its old old now, and i seriously cant get over that intro

have u gus reviewed the styker

"I'm not an idiot...PAUSE" ROTFLOLOLOL
Is it the mark 9 or the 16?
How did u make the camera in the air? :) another plane with a camera og what? :D 7:40
do they still sell this? i cannot seem to find it.
The Hinges of my durafly are not moving freely , can somebody explane to me how i can loosen up the hinges , i bended them like 100 times but nothing helps ....
You guys at flute test are SLACKERS !
@ossiegoldhill123 Maybe we'll put a bigger motor and a 6S on it in the future :D
I expect it will be released eventually. Why not just get the Park zone Spitfire Mk9.
It looks super scale in the air, looks just like a full sized spitfire
What would you reccomend for a first warbird?
+Jay offninjago23 i would recommend the eflite trojan for a forst warbird. an ideal trainer.
+Jay offninjago23 Definitely not. Warbirds were bult to be unstable so models tend to be twitchy if proper scale. That roll at 07:38 is so damn scale looking
So, is this plane actually for with Hobby King?
why does it all ways look like sunset with air to air footage on flitetest?
Are the OrangeRx 6ch remotes any good?
***** Thanks for the advice!
10:22 any landing that is not crash landing is cool, Absolute True :)
You are saying it does not tip-stall but David crashed it in a tip stall in the later videos :)
Is this still available or has it been discontinued?
I can not find this plane??
beautiful plane
i like the intro very much
I think I know what my next plane is going to be ;D
It means that it's the equivalent of a .40 size glow engine. Less than 1/2 C.I.D. Somewhere around 1 H.P.
