    I love the odd signature used in this song. It's not common to hear anything other than 3/4 and 4/4, so hearing this 7/4 groove was honestly bliss

      You just reminded me of Dave Brubeck’s Unsquare Dance, th-cam.com/video/_yExwkQYcp0/w-d-xo.html. It’s cool. I love all the variations in the percussion! In this one, th-cam.com/video/lbdEzRfbeH4/w-d-xo.html, you can hear the drummer at the end kind of laughing saying “Yeah”, being glad to have gotten through it. 🙂

      You'll find this odd time signature, and many others like it, in most of Animusic's discography. Resonant Chamber, Drum Machine, Gyro Drums, Cathedral Pictures, just to name a few!

    • @IweyoL
      @IweyoL ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I like the videos, but I’ll have to pay closer attention to the time signatures (I’m literate, sort of, but not particularly adept - it doesn’t come naturally to me 🙂).

    This'll always be a classic. I don't know if it's the unusual time signature, the robo-sunglasses, the fact that redbot's just jiving in the background, or the fact that apparently even robots can't have a percussion section without a cowbell. Simply incredible

    Animusic, especially with the slightly more recognizable individual instrumentalists work because all of them have been given very distinct and subtle flavors of personality to their animation. Something that was most certainly deliberately done.
    Blue is the chill experienced one, with only his continual bobbing.
    Red is the vibiest hypeman with slightly more exaggerated bobbing and ofc, his arms.
    The twins seem like they're swagging with no-look hits on the percussion.
    The "harpist" is focused with his head-banging to the melody.
    It's all purposeful and well executed personality, still fucking love it in 2023.

    this is actually such a good example of characterization through body language. none of the ‘characters’ say a word. their only other distinguishing features are their color and the instrument they play. their forms are all very similar, with only subtle differences. yet you can still tell exactly what they’re about, just from how they move and play

    Dean Kamen ought to hold a FIRST Robotics Competition in which EACH competitor robot has a different assignment (as in this video). On contest day, the robots would all be put on the floor at the same time, and with the push of a single button, all the robots would begin to play. (Too complex, I know, but it's a fun thought.) I'm greatly impressed with all the art, music, and technology that goes into these Animusic productions.)

    Me as a musician is like: these time sigs are weird. 7/4, some 6/4 thrown in every now and again. Somehow, Animusic was able to create a song that feels like it can rock and is in seven.
