This reminds me of this quote... "Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm." Really failure is a part of success and it is the best teacher if we chose to get back up and learn from it!
#challengeaccepted?! I definitely get it. And I've fought my ego personally to regress to progress at times. But it has ALWAYS been worth it! You'll thank yourself for doing it later!
Thank you! I think we all need to hear things said in different ways over and over again. We honestly all need to be often reminded more than we need to be taught! :-)
Thank you! Glad they help. I think we need to be reminded of these things often as we get lost in the doing or the feeling things aren't happening fast enough and these help us step back to assess and adjust!
thanks for this video.. especially the part about not always needing to be sore.. somehow I thought it was necessary and as you mentioned it kind of gets a bit addictive, but then it stopped me when I wanted to go hiking for example (well, I still went bit it was not feeling "free" and just couldn't enjoy it as I could) and in those moments, I really questioned my training - I don't want this constant soreness to limit my quality time! I guess I'll have to shift my mindset somehow... get it more sustainable.
I think it is shifting to a focus on tracking progress in those numbers and getting that consistent schedule! While it can feel satisfying at times to be sore, the point of our workouts is to move and feel our best in every day life while seeing the body recomp we may want!
Your content is always amazing! So down to earth and far from the BS that the 'wellness bros' pump out all the time :D 'Don't skip warmups' is the best! Ever since I incorporated warmups to my routine I perform so much better and have less soreness.
Thank you! I'm so glad it helps! And yes, warm ups are not always "fun" but the payoff is so worth it when done consistently! You see the huge impact they have on your ability to train and train hard!
Great tips Cori! You hit it with these 15 tips! Been into fitness and nutrition since I was 10 yrs old. Its such a learning process but so worth it! Ive made plenty of mistakes but also learned from them. I'm not about quick fixes. Slow and steady wins the race! I'm actually taking courses finally at 42 yrs old to become a personal trainer. It's taken me many years to feel confident in myself to do so. Looking back I'm glad I waited so long, I had and still have alot to learn! Fitness and nutrition is ever evolving and so do we. I love your approach to fitness and nutrition Cori! Mental health is also huge for me. Understanding how to properly feed your body and give it what is needs is crucial! Our family brand is BEARTHEWEIGHT! It's all about support for fitness amd mental health journeys! I love what you do Cori! Keep these videos coming! Have an awesome day!
Thank you! And it is a constant learning process. I feel the more we know, the more we realize there is to learn. And even how much of it all comes back to MINDSET!
Thank you Cori for great advice as always. Watching this while having a yoghurt to help hit my protein goal. I think patience and expectations are the biggest hurdle. Im down 4kg in 6 weeks after being told im pre diabetic. I get frustrated when my weight goes up again or flat lines for a few days Drives me nuts. But i remind myself the scales dont tell us the full picture. How do our clothes fit? Something my poor old PT had to thump into my head. And this weight didnt go on overnight. Be patient. If i can lose 10kg by Christmas as requested by my doctor, i will be thrilled. I will be 2/3rds back to where i need to be. Wont be for the want of trying. But if i dont i just know i have to keep plugging away. My health doesnt have a choice.
Great job and love that focus on protein. I always go back to reminding myself of WHY I'm doing things and the process I have made no matter how small. Even maintaining one week or stepping back while doing the habits is progress because we didn't give up! KEEP GOING! Celebrate those wins along the way!
KNOW YOUR WHYS! I did a deep dive into health benefits, I do better chasing health rather than weight! I allow myself to enjoy a free day, except it’s not a day, it’s an event. When I turned 60, I decided to I wanted to be in my best health in my 6th decade.
Hell yeah for the "schedule shifts" tip. I'm usually pretty good with my diet and alcohol intake on weekdays. Heck, I'm usually at a calorie deficit 4 or 5 days during the week. But then I totally make up for that on the Friday and/or Saturday (sometimes Sunday).
That realization was definitely key for me as well. Helps you adjust your lifestyle, whether changing weekend habits and patterns or even shifting your weekly habits to account for them! So glad it helped you too!
So glad they help! And I don't know why it keeps me from feeling the need to play the one more game...but it does...despite being extra delicious frozen haha
I’m in menopause and it sucks but I won’t cry a river over it. I’m an athletic that has struggled to lose fat for nine years and don’t know how I ended up here but I have a question. Is their information that you can talk about for women that are in menopause but doesn’t want that to hinder their goals. I’ve been off and on since 2016 trying to achieve my goals on training and get stuck. Thanks!! ❤
Menopause changes how we fuel and train but it doesn't "doom" us in the slightest. I have clients perimenopausal, menopausal and post menopausal conquering PRs and new performance goals and achieving amazing body recomp. Here are some resources to help: redefiningstrength.com/menopause-2?sl=yc
When I feel like my plans never work out, I assess how I'm planning. I find often my to-do list is too much or the habits haven't been built up to. So I take things back to basics and simplify the plan with minimums to get the momentum building first. Then add on :-)
Ive been working with a trainer for 4 years and i havent seen results i have hypothyroidism and had gut issues over a year ago i have food sensitivities gluten and dairy free and chronic inflammation so it sucks when you dont see results...
Training is key but diet matters and must complement our workouts and address our health concerns to help us see results and feel our. best. Tracking your food is key and can even help you see improvements in thyroid health as you work to navigate those food sensitivities and even reduce inflammation :-)
I totally understand that, if we really overeat on the weekend (esp.if it's 3 days !!), the total amount of calories of the week will increase dramatically. BUT I have one question please : let's assume you "eat good" (even in a little deficit) all week, and have ONE cheat day on the weekend, and then go back to normal. If this (massive, for me) cheat day doesn't make our weekly caloric total explode, could it be beneficial ? 1st, for our mental health, and, 2nd, could it be help to reboost our metabolism for one day ?
I don't think there is anything wrong with a day of not fully "dialed in" eating or a cheat day BUT our daily, weekly, monthly averages still add up. The more you do on that day, the greater the impact. Not bad BUT you just have to weigh sustainability vs. speed of results. And even if you do want a day account for that in how you plan your weekly calories and macros!
@@redefiningstrengthOC thank you Cori for your answer. Yes, the higher the calories on that day, the more impact it has. Do you think that that caloric excess can be turned to our advantage by a temporary boost of our metabolism ? I know I sweat more on that day (post prandial thermogenesis), for example !
Supplements are supplemental and the last piece I really discuss with clients after macros and workouts and even sleep are dialed in. Here's more on creatine though - th-cam.com/video/agmoK71zUpQ/w-d-xo.html
I focus on the don't quit part. Even if you mess it up 100 times, there's still hope unless you quit.
This reminds me of this quote... "Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm." Really failure is a part of success and it is the best teacher if we chose to get back up and learn from it!
Oh man, I am guilty of avoiding doing the awkward things because they're so hard and such an ego slam. Thanks for the challenge and great tips
#challengeaccepted?! I definitely get it. And I've fought my ego personally to regress to progress at times. But it has ALWAYS been worth it! You'll thank yourself for doing it later!
You are on fire Cori- every coaching session offered is ever more fantastic- packed with no BS advice and inspiration -thanx :)
Aw shucks thanks beastette! So glad the tips help!
KEEP PREACHING! ❤❤❤❤❤ I love that you give no BS advice!! I know how hard it is to get people to listen though ❤️
Thank you! I think we all need to hear things said in different ways over and over again. We honestly all need to be often reminded more than we need to be taught! :-)
Excellent tips. Especially pointing out how hard it can be to make the changes. These are quick and doable.
Thank you! Glad they help. I think we need to be reminded of these things often as we get lost in the doing or the feeling things aren't happening fast enough and these help us step back to assess and adjust!
Cori, your words and context are heart felt and SO true! Thank you for sharing your knowledge ✌🏻🫶🏻🩵 xx

Another fabulous episode! The first tip that I will implement is doing the warmup!!
YES! Those warm ups are truly so key! And thank you!
Great advice. I know I sometimes try to get in a workout during my rest day and I have to stop myself to avoid getting injured.
It's hard sometimes to remember that what feels like doing nothing is doing something!

I'll focus first on planning ahead. Thanks for your fantastic tips, Cori!
YESSS! Such a key one!

An inspiring combo of self awareness and pragmatism.
Thanks!
Great video! I am guilty of skipping the hard and akward exercises, gonna work on that!
It's easy to do in favor of moves we are comfortable being uncomfortable with! But those other moves really help improve our mind-body connection too!
Thank you so much 🙏
This is what I love about Cori. No BS whatsoever 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
:-) I definitely try to be honest in the ups and downs and what it takes to see results!

Great stuff as always, but I always end up craving the desserts you show.
Cupcakes, and a tub of cheese balls would hit the spot today.
Dots cupcakes are always worth it...the cheese puffs...not so much ;-P
I just commented above about cravings. Please feel free to learn more …
You Are Really Fantastic🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

loved the part about being sore....seems like my butt is never sore...im 61 today...trying to increase my squats though.
I will tell you, squats aren't the best glute move either. But soreness is not an indicator that we worked hard enough :-)
Go kory! Go doggy! 🎉
:-)
Great video, thanks, I need that kick in the backside, and inspiring talk. Thanks
I fail to plan or fell like my plans don't last or fail!

'Dont stop." Thank you, Cori for kicking my butt with that one sentence. Team 1% wanting more butt kicks. 😂
You're welcome beastette! Team 1% always moving forward!
I love how you are willing to waste a little flour to make the video on throwing things together!😂
I couldn't pass up this messy fun!

I buy one Reese’s cup at a time. It’s ridiculous but then I can enjoy just 1. I can’t have a sack in my house
Love that you found your balance!

Great list of tips! Helpful perspective on Clean Eating.
What about supplementing with creatine? What’s it do?
