Stardust speedway definitely took some blatant inspiration and/or samples from this, but the part at 2:17 Showed up in a much newer Sonic game. I'm surprised I overlooked this until I listened to this song again today.
Guys, in Sonic CD and Mania act 2, we pass trough Stardust Speedway on the top of the city. But what it does look from the bottom, at the streets? I don't know how it does look like, but I know how it sounds

Eggman: Okay. TIME TO RELEASE THE HYPER METAL SONIC! (Door slowly opens) (Metal.EXE booting...) (Metal.EXE complete) (Door stops halfway) Eggman: GAH, WHAT NOW?! ... hmm? Gah, ran out of cartons. (Leaves chair and walks to see the cartons while mumbling) (Metal Sonic peeks under door) (Metal Sonic starts exploring the Flying Battery) (Music plays)
Almost if not every song? I don't know about that, Stardust Speedway is obviously ripped off straight from this song and Ice Cap is definitely Hard Times by The Jetzons but I don't think there are any other examples
Here are more examples (Off the top of my head mind, I am sure I know about more): Sonic CD JP, Collision Chaos: th-cam.com/video/zIXqmt0zw3Y/w-d-xo.html Sonic 2, Ending: th-cam.com/video/M6bYHxwJv24/w-d-xo.html Sonic 3, Credits: th-cam.com/video/pEEMi2j6lYE/w-d-xo.html
It’s a technique called sampling, musicians use it all the time, not just the sega sound team. Listen to the song “Amen brother” by the Winstons and pay close attention to the drums. You’ll start hearing those darn drums everywhere. A particularly funny example is when Drake sampled from the song “Haunted Chase” from Donkey Kong country 2 and put it in his track “6 god”
I guess I'm the only not finding it similar to Stardust speedway... When reading others comments, I though it would sounds *EXACTLY* like it (like Hard times does with Ice cap) and not only from the beginning. It's like Hard times, could have been a new wave rendition of Ice cap with lyrics, like this one would have been the funk rendition for Stardust speedway, if it sounds the same, which isn't to me. The song still slaps tho.

Stardust Speedway???
I don't know this version of Stardust Speedway

It was more of a inspiration, the song notes isn’t completely the same to stardust speedway
@schlydops6352 I was just trying to over exaggerate on how similar they sound to each other that’s all
There's a difference between inspiration and plagiarism and some people don't seem to understand that.
It’s a technique called sampling, musicians use it all the time, not just the sega sound team. Listen to the song “Amen brother” by the Winstons and pay close attention to the drums. You’ll start hearing those darn drums everywhere.
