Xmas 86 for me was unforgettable!! I received both the Terror Drome and Night Raven. But that Terror Drome was awesome and having that along with the Headquarters was bad ass!
Mike, I absolutely love your list! As a GI Joe collector the only surprises on your list were not having 1987's Mobile Command Center on the list, and 1985's U.S.S. Flagg not being number 1. I own several of these playsets, and I do see your point about the Flagg however. The space needed to properly display it, and the vehicles and figures to compliment it. There will never be a another playset like the U.S.S. Flagg. Not even through Haslab. I enjoyed your take on these though. Great Job!
I remember my older brother getting the terror for xmas assembling the whole thing and finding a few crucial pieces missing, A few days later my mom drove us to hasbro corporate hq where they gave us the missing pieces + General. The most exciting discovery however was that of the secret Hasbro hq toy store which had every hasbro toy you could ever imagine from obscure never heard of toys and figures to toys the ones sold out everywhere
For more betterness: 1.Get extra vehicle bays on both sides of your 83 Headquarters to extend it. 2. Get those fake grass diorama mats 3. Have multiple Bivouac camps and at least 2 Watch Towers PURE OD GREEN VINTAGE BEAUTY
Man good video . I was blessed to have the Terrordrome as a kid in OKC during those 80’s. Moved and misplaced pieces and just never kept up with it and then hit puberty and focus changed lol. And I agree, it was the greatest.
They really did have the best toyline!! As a Star Wars collector I was always secretly jealous!! Like why did we not get a playset of the Imperial bunker from ROTJ? Or the thingy with the ginormous shield generating radar thang??
I know I am 2 years late, but in case anyone didn't mention it the Bivouac is pronounced "Biv wack". It is a French word for a camp of sorts, often used in a military context. Oh, any the hanging item looks like a canteen, not binoculars.
hands down my favorite G.I. Joe play set was the G.I. Joe base, I remember when my cousin got one for his birthday , we both already had a shit ton Joes and vehicles , and the addition of the base to our collection was just rockstar , I was 8 and he was 6 , we played with that thing endlessly , and yes there were other Joe play sets that came after that are better and more elaborate ( Terror Drome , Defiant , The General . ) but the G.I. Joe base was the first major play set and is number one in my book..
Awesome list bro. I owned about 2/3 of that list. I passed on the General and the Defiant as a kid due to lack of room. Wish I could say I had them all. I loved my collection so much and worked hard to buy most of it. O had endless days playing with my my FLAGG and Terror Drone. Had a huge chunk of my aircraft parked on the carrier. Id hoist my Cobra base down and have hours of setting up for battles. I wanna go back to the 80s and recapture all that fun again. Time travel anyone? Music and GIJOE was all I needed. Girls were secondary for a long time. When I left for the Air Force, I took a pic of my collection and hugged my family goodbye. Went on to be a firefighter in 1991. Guess I played the part of BBQ lol. Loved it. It was GIJOE that really amped me up to serve. My mom was pissed lol. She got over it and was proud of her kid.
This is very interesting. It's the first time I learn of a kid buying himself the Flagg, back in the day, and all the other Joe stuff. I didnt know it was something you could do I guess. Respect
Hello Mister Tyderium!! You make the best toy review videos. I do have a question.....did the new movies have their own toylines? I don't think I heard anything about them
Instead of the first one, I really liked the Outpost Defender I think it was called. A little sand bag bunker with a heavy machine gun and some extra weapons. It was a small set but I remember playing with it a lot.
with hasbro doing 8 in rescales, im highly expecting a f14 and will be highly dissapointed if they dont make a bigger and better air craft carriers. my boss and i were speculating and since the 14 would be like 3 feet long and the carrier like 14 ft long if they redid the planes. it would be able to float, raise the planes, docking stations, maybe a plane launcher, and secret missle launcher
Heck they could make one that doubles for 12 inch figures. I saw a great display in Pauls Valley that had many vehicles for 1/6 joes and those are huge which sounds like what you are talking about. Thanks
You missed my favorite and the one I played with. The G.I. Joe mobile command center. It was the pride of my collection. It was the very definition of a vehicle that transformed into a play area
LOL. You put the Bivouac on the list but not the Mobile Command Center? That's just a travesty man. Also you should have included a mention of the second G.I.Joe Headquarters from 1992 along side the original, it's a pretty good set as well. The rest of this list is on point though for sure. XD
Have to say, I don't recognize all of your list, due to living in Ireland and we didn't as many as the big vehicles as the US did, but I would love to own each and everyone of these... By the way, does anyone here know if we will ever get M.A.S.K reissued anytime soon...?
Ofcourse it is hard that we will probably never get those vehicles and playsets again. Especially a new USS Flagg. Weird though that we as a community cannot afford to back the Super7 Cobra Mothership!
I agree with the Teror Drome #1 but the USS Flagg at #6? Yes it needs the lower Hull addition to make it usable. It should still be in the top 3 just because of the sheer audacity of Hasbro to put it on the market. 1. Teror Drome 2. Headquarters 3. USS Flagg 4. Battle Platform 5. Defiant Lauch Complex
Speaking of the Bivouac playset, GridIron makes a fantastic version of it for Classified(6" line). Just expensive is all. Their drones are gr8 too. Fun to just peruse
My mom has pictures of me opening the terror drone on Christmas, I'll have to get my mom to break out the photo albums one of these days and send it to you , Not the original, of course.
I absolutely love this video. Thank you for sharing all the incredible place that's of my childhood. Wow kids are really missing out today on what we had as children with playsets.
My favorite playset as an adult is the Cobra Hydrofoil with rescue dream team led by Snake-Eyes, they are stationed in HQ consisting of checkpoint alpha, watchtower, and outpost Defender.

I can't even see Haslab making a USS Flagg now. They're only making vehicles like Skystrikers and HISS tanks these days.

You forgot the Mobile Command Center, that was a pretty awesome set as well. Looking at mine right now😁
He sure did forget it! I remember the mobile command center well as a lucky kid! It was the only one playset I had other than some vehicles.
That should have taken The General or Rolling Thunders spot. MCC is definitely more of a playset than a vehicle
Definitely in the top 10.
My uncle gave me a ton of his 80s G.I. Joe’s and now I got some of the new classified ones
Man good video . I was blessed to have the Terrordrome as a kid in OKC during those 80’s. Moved and misplaced pieces and just never kept up with it and then hit puberty and focus changed lol. And I agree, it was the greatest.

Hasbro may have had a bigger budget than Kenner and they sure went all out!
@@tydiriumhanger1320 The accessories, superior articulation and attention to details were very impressive. Thank you for the response
@@tydiriumhanger1320Kenner made loads of moolah from their Star Wars action figure line, they could've made huge playsets if they really wanted too.

Mobile Command Center is a major oversight here. Such a great playset.
I remember Christmas of ‘86 being one of the best ever, cause I was lucky enough to get the cobra terror drome 🤙
That sounds like an awesome Christmas! That Terror Drome was mindblowing to a kid of the 80s. Thanks

Good review. Nice job changing up expectations of ranking. Keep up the good work.
Hello Mister Tyderium!! You make the best toy review videos. I do have a question.....did the new movies have their own toylines? I don't think I heard anything about them
I know Retaliation did and there were figures for Rise of cobra but may have been named something else
Mike I had some of these sets when i grew up. I remember enjoying them very much, even though I didn't have many figures.
A playset like these can really build a world around a figure line. That is extremely lacking these days with the 6 inch scale. Thanks
Mobile Command Center should be on the list as well as the GI Joe electronic HQ that came out in the 90’s. Replace those two vehicles with these.
Nice video! Tons of memories. I had and played without about half of these or more in my childhood.
Instead of the first one, I really liked the Outpost Defender I think it was called. A little sand bag bunker with a heavy machine gun and some extra weapons. It was a small set but I remember playing with it a lot.
Great video. I believe MCC deserves a spot on that list.
How would that general move from place to place. It don’t look like it could fit on a road.
I have the Thunder Clap, how much is it worth approx?
You forgot mobile command center

jonyb76 rumors have it that this may happen! Feel free to check out my GiJoe vids!
They have teased us with 2 versions of Matt Tracker in 3.75 inch scale but still no vehicles made yet. We do need MASK in the modern era. Thanks
Think you from all of your friends in cobra
The Cobra Missile HQ makes an outstanding ‘hangar’ backdrop if you have Rattlers or Night Ravens ! 👍🤟
agree completely. I had a headquarters and terrordrome. both incredible playsets. wish i kept mine.
Nice list! Love all of em!
Yes it was a hard list because there are still a few more good ones out there. Thanks
Excellent picks
Great list
Ofcourse it is hard that we will probably never get those vehicles and playsets again. Especially a new USS Flagg. Weird though that we as a community cannot afford to back the Super7 Cobra Mothership!
I’m 4 years too late for this, but I think you could have bumped the Bivouac set for the G.I. Joe Mobile Command Center!
No mobile command center?
I agree with the Teror Drome #1 but the USS Flagg at #6?

Bivouac is pronounced "biv-wak". Sorry. Word police.
Keep up the good work, brotha! Good vid

There is only 1 80s playset. It is a base, it is a vehicle, it is a table on which all play can happen, it is the USS FLAGG
Yes it is all those things! LOL thanks
@@tydiriumhanger1320 I never owned one as an adult I would get one to use as my dining room table
Good review most review guys be hatting on vintage joes
Vintage is where it is for sure! I be we will never see playsets this great on shelves again. Thanks
The defiant was three hundred dollars when it came out.
'Not the coolest of the gang.' Nice.
LOL it was how I felt about mine when I sold it off. Thanks

Glad you enjoyed! Yes we had it good back in the day. Wonder if we will ever see a resurgence of playsets in modern lines. Thanks
Defiant, If Hasbro made an updated sturdy version I can retire from buying toys. Ok 99% retire. Ok 75% retire
Love My Cobra Is Terra dome
Lol first set is pronounced Biv-wack
Sweet I got em all except that thing with the helo
My favorite playset as an adult is the Cobra Hydrofoil with rescue dream team led by Snake-Eyes, they are stationed in HQ consisting of checkpoint alpha, watchtower, and outpost Defender.
Didn't they have a big Ass hovercraft, pretty sure I played with it as a kid
Yes the WHALE is awesome and was considered for this list. Thanks
Not a playset.
