Hey Spur I think it's a design choice of why the hose packs are smooth bore only. With the Dev being a real world firefighter and understanding the mechanics smoothbore especially in the US is regarded as the go to best nozzle for high rise firefighting, due to the fact it requires a lower operating pressure vs having a fog capable nozzle which has been known to struggle above the 10th floor due to the pressure although arguably part of it is due to how the system is used and the type of nozzle they're trying to use. If you want to know more there's a brilliant mini documentary put up by Elkheart Brass on their TH-cam channel when the fire service came together to discuss highrise firefighting. Although the video mainly focuses on smoothbore vs fog capable it also focuses on the European "3D" firefighting/ Gas cooling vs the American style of put a line between the fire and where it wants to go.
The psi range for the hand line used to be 120-140. Anything beyond that, and you won't be able to move. I've had several fires at that same gas station, and I just pulled a draft from the water puddle. As far as PSI for pumping, technically you want 80 going from a tanker to the engine. For fire attack, usually around 140. and flowing foam you want 200 psi. I would like to see the deck guns not start flowing, unless the valve is open. First time I used one of the towers, I got the snot scared out of me. Wasn't expecting an immediate water flow. Overall, I'm enjoying this game. The truck handling is going to take some getting used to.
The game isn't too complex in my opinion, but the UI is pretty atrocious and overwhelming for a new player. Also when I started the tutorial didn't really work, but that might have changed as it's been quite a while.
