It's a lot safer to always set one treble in the tail root of a dead bait and the other hook half way along the fishes flank - with that second hook positioned in the head area its much more likely to result in a deep hooked pike unless you strike instantaneously as the fish is(as I'm sure your already aware) usually swallowed head first and that first treble can sometimes result in an out of sight hookup in the top of the stomach lining causing complications..
We had this problem in October at tatershall lakes on a small pond kids were fishing for roach and every time they pit one back there was swirls ay their feet i ended up putting a orange soft bait on and swishing it about for a minute before it took it mu first ever lire caught pike too
im also a keen pike angler . park lakes near me used to hold some big pike. in the mid to late 80s i had 5 different 20s now you never see or hear of a 20, low doubles are hard to come by
@ It’s the Stainforth and Keadby Canal at Thorne. It’s a massive canal and during the winter all the fish migrate into Thorne, followed by all the pike. £5 day ticket, or £20 for the year👍
@@kingfisher7687 There's currently a decent shoal of 3lb+ bream down keadby basin. No pike or silvers though as it's tapwata clear at the moment down there
May calling the Pike “ little blighters”. Mad me chuckle 😊😊
