    It's not bad for a starter. I plan on modding it pe foam, and painters tape
    Sounds decent, good rgb and good price. This isn't something I'm trying to make a hobby out of, I just need it for gaming and it's nice and small.

    • @Ray.F
      @Ray.F  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thank you for checking this video out! This video is kinda outdated now and there are better options for roughly the same price point out there.
      If you can increase your budget somehow, I can definitely recommend something like the Keychron V4 or V2 for your gaming needs.
      They are prebuilt 60% and 65% respectively, and what's great is that they come with decently prelubed stabilizers, and of course it comes with a much more versatile firmware (QMK) to remap the keys with. It is not as restrictive as 3rd party firmwares, which I am sure it's going to be useful for gaming.

      Damn they look super sick. Sureee! But for a separate build. I seen that these switches are also basically AquaKing/WaterKing switches, so if they are more widely available, I might just put these on a Wormier K66 in a future build next time.

    • @Ray.F
      @Ray.F  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      this is really down to your preferences, but I would rather have brown switches as the red switches from outemu sounds "rubbery" to me on the bottom out.

  • @riccardomonti978
    @riccardomonti978 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How can i have this sound too?

    • @Ray.F
      @Ray.F  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I lubed the stock outemu reds with krytox 205g0, and krytox 105 bag-lubbed for the springs. I did the PE Foam mod for this as well as adding case foam inside the case. I then swapped out the keycaps with some thicker shine-through PBT keycaps.
      You can try the following above, but i think you will get better results by swapping out the outemu reds.

  • @bowo3482
    @bowo3482 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey, great video! I'm wondering if it's possible to swap the PCB with a kailh hotswap PCB since switch compatibility seems to be the bane of this keyboard, or would the PCB standoff forbid that?

    • @Ray.F
      @Ray.F  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Nope, the Standoffs in the case are different from the positions you would find in most 60% PCBs. Most 60% PCBs also have their USB C port on the back, not at the side.
      You would be better off getting at least a GK61X than this.

      if you're looking for the click type then it's probably the usual blue switches. There are other clicky switch options out there that aren't just "blue". Kailh box jades, box whites, box navies, chosfox arctic fox, etc.

    What key caps are on the build?

    • @Ray.F
      @Ray.F  ปีที่แล้ว

      Initially it was built with matcha XDA PBT keycaps. for the sound demo, I used some old Doubleshot shine through PBTs with 1.5mm thick walls that I bought before I even got into the hobby. I can't remember the brand, but I believe it was made for Ducky keyboards back in the day.

      I bought this from Aliexpress! It is in the official Red Dragon Store. I wouldn't recommend these tbh if you are looking into modding. The acoustics really left a lot to be desired. I would definitely recommend you to pick up a simple GK61X or a BM60RGB Kit instead. The GK61X should have a much more poppier sound profile (I tried the GK68X stock before) and the BM60RGB kit is great if you want to use QMK / VIA on a budget and it has support for Screw in stabilizers. Also, were you referrring to the Keebmonkey KBM68?

    • @Ray.F
      @Ray.F  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'd assume your board has outemu hot swap sockets. If they really do, then you're pretty much limited to akko CS Switches and other outemu switches.
      You can try out Akko CS Rose Reds (linear). They are switches with light weighted springs, and they sound great, high pitched, crispy bottom out but sounding full as well. They feel and sound great out of the box stock, but the springs are known to have some "crunch" to it if it wasn't lubed.
      They are very cheap, at around 20 to 30 USD for 90 switches.
      You can also try their Akko CS Radiant Red Switches if you fancy a slightly heavier switch with around the same actuation force as a gateron yellow (53g vs 50g), and they come with 18mm long spring instead of the 15mm progressive spring found on the rose reds. The longer spring menas a snappier return, as there is more preload versus the 15mm spring.

    But the only problem is that i cant get the rk61 caude it 75 dollsrs where i live and thr k630 is just 40 dollars and since i dont plan to do any mods except for foam mod then the k630 i a better option for me right?

    • @Ray.F
      @Ray.F  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      for the extra 35 dollars you get wireless mode, more switches support (kailh-style hotswap socket vs outemu sockets) and better FN layer hotkeys, which I have pointed out in the video.
      Functionality stand point, the RK61 would be the better buy, as using the arrow keys with 2 hands is quite redundant.
      Acoustic wise, I am sure the RK61 will sound similar to the GK61, which should sound poppy and somewhat hollow, if I use my GK68X as a reference, but it also sounds full and there is some depth to it.
      But the K630 really disappoints me with how the case sounds. Even with PE Mod, it does not sound full and substantial, but thin and lacking depth.
      Althought that might be due to the switches too, but the case is just really thin and I would doubt it will withstand the test of time, if you accidentally dropped it.
      If you are stil able to snag a GK61X for cheap, or a wormier K61 for cheap, I'd say those are the better buy when compared to the RK61 and the K630.

      If you are on a really tight budget
      Check out CIY Tester68. 30 USD 65% wireless keyboard kit with Kailh Hotswap sockets. The stock stabilizers after lubing are great. I personally own one of these and they have not ticked at all after months of usage.
