- HolidayWorld.com The Legend was the top-ranked new wooden roller coaster when it opened in 2000 (#7 overall), according to the readers of Amusement Today, who named The Legend the #18 Wooden Coaster in the World in 2011. Using our GoPro camera, we shot this POV (point-of-view) Legend ride in HD on August 2, 2012. Please note: Guests are not - under any conditions - permitted to take cameras on our roller coasters and most other rides.
Custom Coasters designed the Raven and the Legend. About 10 years ago that company closed and some of the people from CCI went on to found The Gravity Group which later designed and built the Voyage.
Whoever mounted this camera, shouldn't be allowed to mount cameras anymore
Nate Kenny the place holiday world put a camera on it themselves
this was the first roller coaster I have ever ridden in my life. shoutout 2 holiday worlds for helpin my face my fear in 2011
it was my first too
iccerox2000 it was my first one to
I rode this yesterday
Mine too
@@rayroberts8231 me too
This is one of the best wooden coasters I've ridden so far. It right up there with El Toro at SFGADV, The Beast at Kings Island, and of course, the Raven and Voyage at Holiday World.
One of the best wooden roller coasters out there and the first one I ridden
i loved this roller coaster when i went to holiday world its fun and i mean i have rode alot of roller coasters but nothing to me beats a wood coaster in speed and power being on somthing metal sure its sometimes gots the height and the speed but u hardly notice sometimes with the smooth ride its more of a sight seeing coaster but this and then son of beast back when they had the look at kings island are awesome coasters and would say ride them legend was a fun thing to do with the family as wel
I'm going next weekend and I love this ride :) I only got to ride it twice last year though. I also can't wait to to ride the Mammoth and the Voyage!
i cried when i went on this lol
The shock absorbing system on this ride produces some pretty cool track sway. Nothing to the caliber of The Rattler (rip), but still fun to watch.
I loved this ride
This classic is beast, too!
This ride is really rough.
this was my first roller coaster
this is my favorite roller coaster
Just out of curiosity (hoping for an HW answer here), do you occasionally remove one train from rotation? When my family visited on Labor Day Weekend and they were only running one train on the ride. It was raining, if that makes a difference. I will say, the one train that was running was being loaded and dispatched very efficiently.
***** I apologize if I seem too talkative, but how many trains is Thunderbird set to run?
Thunderbird should have two trains. The legend usually has only one, it's kinda weird.
Jason Hook Thunderbird has two trains.
Audrey Zoe The Legend has two trains as well.
Holiday World is the roomer true that u guys well be taken in down the Legend if so man that was one my best all time roller coaster rides i ever been on :)
the way i see trends i could see kings island in a few years opting out for a rmc beast hate to say it
I don't see that happening, and here's why. With every RMC so far going to a Six Flags park, it seems possible that Six Flags made RMC an offer they couldn't refuse. Think about it, RMC DID just move into a new big factory.
+Jason Hook It's possible. Kentucky Kingdom is get an RMC treatment and other parks have gotten RMC woodies as well. SDC got Outlaw Run, Dollywood is getting Lightning Rod, and Kolmarden is getting Wildfire.
I went on this
I went on this it was fun but the only thing that I didn't like is the rocky part it hurt my head and my stomach and it went really fast
i rode this
July 9th boi
Looks like a dizzy ride
It is not exactly what you call smooth, it tears you up when you ride it, but a very fun roller coaster!
No not dizzy it jerks you I was at both parks and I was in a bikini and I rode it and I had a DEEP imprint from the bikini it isn't that bad but. You should ride the raven first if it's your first time.😊
That was my first roller coaster i ever rode
Same lol Last one also. I am a wimp :D
jerkiest thing I've ever been on. the voyage is where it's at (: Rode that 20 times in 2 days last weekend ! can't wait to go back . been going every year for 5 years (: love it
Roughest of all voyage and raven are much beter feels like your riding a Chuck wagon down a rocky road at 60 miles an hour
You dont know rough unless youve ridden Son of Beast or Mean Streak. The camera shake is very deceiving, the coasters at Holiday World are among the most well kept and smoothest traditional wooden coasters that also happen to be pretty dang intense.
that ride almost made me sick
I loved this ride the only bad part was I kept bumping into the person next to me
last year i got to ride the Voyage and the Raven im am certainly going to ride the legend when i come back this year
Just rode it yesterday....pretty good coaster I guess but it's the roughest ride I've ever been on. I also noticed the the support posts moving quite a bit as they coaster came by the station. I guess all coasters move a little and I trust that the inspectors know what they're doing.
All of the Holiday World wooden coasters are designed by the same designers, but by two different companies. Custome Coaster, I. (CCI) built the Raven and the Legend, but the Gravity Group built the Voyage. CCI eventually had to close due to financial problems, so the design team from there started the Gravity Group.
we just got home from there and i had a blast riding all the coasters. I rode with my cousin and he talked me into holding my hands up all the way on all three coasters, it was worth the 2 hour trip up there.
thanks for letting my family have a great time at Holiday World
Great video ! We were really looking forward to riding it this past Saturday 5/25/13 but for some reason it was not running.....so we were kind-of disappointed. It was our 13th wedding anniversary trip , Had planned to ride them all. Loved The Voyager & The Raven ! But the Legend was not meant to be , hopefully be able to afford to go again later this year .
Again, great video's
So far arent all 3 rides running PTC trains? I think there were slight variations in the models but for the most part, basically identical. Id have to see it physically to understand.
I do still think if you recorded these at 60fps @ 720p instead of 30fps @ 1080 the picture would actually be a lot smoother and less wavy/erratic. Doubling the frame rate does that. I get the same effect when I use my GoPro when I race my car. Anyways, waitin on Timberliners next year for Voyage :)
Thanks holiblogger for getting back to me soo quick! nervous...... but I guess I'll be riding it with my best friend in the whole world wish me luck:) oh, and I love holiday world best place on earth! thanks:)
hey HoliBlogger i just wanted to say thanks for building the Voyager for i am going to ride all 3 roller coasters wen i come to see you guys this year :) Voyage is best
LOL I love it when everyone puts their hands down when they go through the first tunnel it's so funny xD
I always do that! :)
Yes 😂😂
Landon Films I put my head down too...
That seems REALLY rough.
Did you see the POV from 2016? We did a lot of track replacement before the start of this season.
Ahh..looks much smoother.
Holiday World & Splashin' Safari when I always go to you guises park I always ride the Legend and of course Thunderbird
See you Thursday, July 2nd, 2020 Holiday World!
favorite ride at Holiday World, planning to ride front seat this July XD
I rode all of them
nope
The Legend wasn't working we I went.
I love this ride I'm in it Saturday
The Legend is a master's study in pacing and banking. I'm hoping to have a chance to get on it again later this year, so thanks for the video in the meantime!
Oh the tunnels
thank you HoliBlogger i am looking for word to seeing u guys this year again like every year lol and yea i well be more then ready to ride the legend once again :)
The turn starting at 1:24 is gruelling. Other than that long turn it's a really good ride.
Too shaky
OUCH! Watching this gave me motion sickness!
Still like the ride though....
I've heard from a friend who's rode all the coasters at Holiday World that The Legend is the roughest of them all and gives you a major headache and back aches, is this true? Because if so I won't be able to ride it (please someone from HW staff answer)
Please check out our POV shot in 2016 - we did a lot of off-season track work.
Ches Wilson no it is not
This was also my fiest roller coaster and I loved it. I'm actually abou t to go to holiday world today and I hope to get on all three coasters.

classic coaster based on speed not huge drops
huge drops = speed. I left out the fact that it's only about 15 years old because that should go without saying
My first coaster :)
The legend is one of my favorite roller coasters so far
Always #1 in my heart.
Holiday World is only 3hrs from my house and my family goes to holiday world every year.
Lucky
is it is possible if u could bring in RMC too make The Legend to The Steal Legend or something like that in the near future like 2018 or 2020? just wondering.
+Coaster Mania Doubtful ... we're reinvesting in it as a traditional wooden coaster. I couldn't imagine changing the plan at this point. Thanks for asking!
I'm really glad you're not just following the trend. One of my favorite things about Holiday World are the old-fashioned wood coasters, they make the park unique. And don't you dare touch the Voyage, that ride is perfect!
Don't listen to Coaster Nerd. Keep doing the right thing and don't be like Six Flags or Cedar Fair. Will Koch would want you to keep the wooden coasters as they are anyway.
Not every coaster needs to be RMC'd. This park isn't going to cater to the lowest common denominator.
