I used to walk the trail that runs behind the okapi as soon as the zoo opened. One of them would usually be by the fence and we’d ‘talk’ for a bit. Love okapi!

I once walked around Sunset Lake and saw an Okapi trying to reach some leaves on a tree by his enclosure but he couldn’t reach it. I told him it was his lucky day because I had an umbrella! 😂 I pushed the branch toward him. He was so happy!! 😂😂😂

Why does the Okapi legs seem to shake so much?

Okapi, much like other hoofed animals, twitch their skin when insects land on them to shoo them away and discourage biting.
