To be honest, your tanks are every bit as good as these. My favourite was definitely tank 2 with that wonderful wood shown off to its best. Loved the maple leaf rock too but as I only have a 30Lt tank I don’t think I’d fit any in. Can’t wait to see the shallow tank set up! ❤
Pretty excited to see what you'll make out of that shallow tank. I've been wanting to create a small waterfall type thingy with one and I keep putting it off 🫠
I also think that your tanks are absolutely gorgeous! you are an inspiration! I've just got to figure out how to re-scape tanks that are already up and running with fish in, without getting any more tanks! I asked my husband if the couch was absolutely necessary, he assured me it was 😅!
Me and my wife went there about 3 and a half years ago. It was also around 4 hours drive for us. Amazing place, George farmer visits quite often thats how I found out about the place
See? This is why I'm grateful you teamed up with MD, you two approach the hobby with such passion, but from totally different perspectives. I hope this was as fun as it looks, with the time to imagine and new ideas, I can't wait to see what you do next!
Amazing, many of us cannot afford such luxury, but its good to dream. Having said that, Aquarium Gardens have a beautiful range of products at great prices. I have to pay them a visit as I am not a million miles away here in Norfolk. Lovely selection of wood and rock there Matt, looking forward to seeing your project on the make.
Great video Matt, respect to you for giving Dave's tanks the the B-roll time they deserve. The display tanks in Aquarium Gardens always impress. Exciting to hear that you are going to be collaborating with Dave now.
The low tank would be fun in the middle of a tabletop so you can see it from the sides and top, your wife probably wouldn’t want it on the dining table though. The rock looks like it’s covered in spider web, so cool.
An awesome store, in America we call that fishtank a lowboy. You and Mark make a wonderful team, in a way he is lost without your knowledge. I watched the 8 foot fishtank being assemble and I can't wait for the scape.
You should definitely check out Horizon Aquatics in Newton Aycliffe. It'll be a bit of a road trip for yous, but their shop is the best I've been to. Their gallery room is stunning.
I definitely love the tanks with more negative space. They are more calming and restful to look at. Also can't wait to see what you are going to make with your haul!
For the super shallow, do a bunch of rocks, then add succulents above the waterline on the rocks - combined with some ornamental fringe grasses. Then, under the water, make it a habitat for Mexican Dwarf Orange crayfish!
Cool stuff, Matt! That low tank is awesome can't wait to see what you do with it and WHERE it will go! Love you and MD, so glad to see your channel doing good and really enjoy all of the new things you are up to! Keep it up, it's great!
nice to see your own vlog for this Matt after mentioning this previously. what a store as well. only been to riverwood aquatics in the uK but can only imagine what these are like in person
My favourite shop, Dave and the team are always helpful and full of knowledge… helped me set up tanks, all my plants come from there. Also been to see a couple of scaping evening, worth seeing with special guests. I think you or MD should do one…. ?
I don't have top end equipment in my tank , NO co2 , just a juwel 120 ltr tank, with the bio supper + in tank filter, instead of the supplied Spunges, filled with biome biogravel, live plants planted into soil in bags covered with sand and gravel as per your buddy M D. I have to cut the plants back every two weeks, the only problem is the bronze cories keep breading.which I donate to my local maidenhead.
Hey Matt - they have something on their tanks that I've been commenting to MD for a while on - Ehiem surface skimmers. They do a great job at not only skimming the surface of debris and oils but they also break the surface tension - allowing LED lights to create shimmer - You can get the safe effect by pointing wave maker-style power heads at the surface (like Sicce). I use this technique on all of my tanks. You should introduce this tech to MDs Studio - it really makes a difference.
Quite a classy mini documentary. VO is excellent. On cam needs diffused key light for face to reduce dark eye sockets. They a sky blue colored shirt to balance facial tones.
You got some really cool "toys" to play with, huh Matt? LOL. I'm loving the maple leaf rocks. I don't think I've ever seen those before. Hey the one great fish that your cool shaped tank is either shellies OR a type of goby tank. Of course you'll need a tight fitting lid so they don't kamikaze swan dive out of that tank. WHEW. LOL .
YOLO!!! lol.. Come on Matt.. just get the ADD lights.. that’s my next goal, to get at least one of my tanks running ADA. Maybe not the filter but everything else will be. Love watching your videos dude.
An absolutely brilliant shop, and only half hr away from me, Dave and the other staff couldn't be more helpful, and its a joy to spend some time there appreciating the quality of their tanks. As well as probably the best quality plants and everything else. I know George Farmer and Tai are quite local and there's usually a tank or two that they've had some input in. Saying that though, yourself and MD have a knack of creating some of the best low tech tanks I've seen, and they're more along what I also like and practise, a natural ecosystem tank that can let itself go a bit vs the clinical precision of a true high tech aquascape system , both beautiful, one is just a bit less effort - providing you don't choose fast growing plants - that can be tedious Love your work, and glad MD took you on, your knowledge is an asset👍
Stunningly gorgeous tanks. Number 2 was my favourite. I guess Dave likes to live dangerously having the water level that high on all those tanks 🫣 I’d be scared of fish jumping out 🫢
So pleased to see you going to Aquarium Gardens. I recently visited to get bits for new setup and Dave was so incredibly helpful. I spent about 2 hours chatting and getting fantastic advise specific to my setup. Aquarium Gardens are the best. Great people, great equipment etc and amazing aquascapes to see. Thanks for all the amazing content Matt
Love your channel Matt. Keep up the fantastic content mate. Yea Dave is a great guy and so helpful. I couldn’t believe how much he helped and advised me. Even saving me money by advising me not to get some stuff I thought I needed but didn’t 👍
What a great shop! I loved seeing all those tanks, they were all so interesting and beautiful. Thank you so much for showing it to us. I can’t wait to see what scape you come up with using the manzanita wood and maple leaf rock. I’m super intrigued by that shallow tank, I can’t wait to see what you do with it. Thanks Matt!
Great video. The guys at Aquarium Gardens are brilliant. Had the pleasure of speaking to Dave a couple of weeks ago, super nice guy and helped me out no end.
That’s a cool shop! Gonna have to check them out for sure. Especially all those plants! Amazing. And excited to see what you make from the new hardscape, love the sound of the sunken forest
Wow, super setups there, each one is a gem! Looking forward to see what you do with that super shallow tank. Glad you found the wood you wanted it will look great in a setup.
Loved this and agree your tanks are just as good….what kind of plant is in the tank( moss and red buce) at 3:58 in with the bright green leaves? Almost looks like a vine spilling out of the hardscape.
Great camera work Matt. I really enjoyed getting a good look at the scapes. Thanks for sharing. You and MD have inspired me to get back into fish keeping.
Are you sure that's Manzanita? I live in an area where Manzanita is native and the main characteristic is that the wood has a striking red color. That looked very brown. It looked nice for sure, but definitely didn't look red.
Would love to go there but it’s a mission from Scotland 🤦♂️🤪 But horizon aquatics is great as well tho definitely worth a visit if your ever near Northumberland direction
Did you actually say the word "LIKE" 48 times ?? ((I am a fan of your channel, loved that you helped MD, for as long as you did - hoping you'll support him in future projects)) . I support all Tank builders of interest- wish I could be brave and try a Tank of maybe 5x2x2 ... soonish :) Xxx
I wonder whether quite heavily sculptured rock like maple leaf rock might offer enhanced biological filtration like liverock does in marine setups? Not the same level of porosity I suppose.
new sub here, I've been binging your vids (& MD too). In 1 video you showed a tetra species that you hadn't seen in 15 years in the trade. It had a yellowish glow with red bits. Can you tell me the species and also the video it was in? Thanks and cheers!
Thanks for the super video Matt! Lovely to meet you finally. Looking forward to see what you do with that shallow tank 🙌
Cheers,
Dave
To be honest, your tanks are every bit as good as these. My favourite was definitely tank 2 with that wonderful wood shown off to its best. Loved the maple leaf rock too but as I only have a 30Lt tank I don’t think I’d fit any in. Can’t wait to see the shallow tank set up! ❤
Thank you! There are so many different styles to aquascaping that there are loads of great scapes out there.
Love the chill vibes of this video! The narration, the music, the amazing scapes... Made my Monday! Thanks Matt!
It's the new style. He's broke the mold. We witnessed it. I appreciate you splashmanjr
Pretty excited to see what you'll make out of that shallow tank. I've been wanting to create a small waterfall type thingy with one and I keep putting it off 🫠

These are what is meant as heavily planted tanks ❤ goals!!
The Manzanita in a taller tank so the tops are just poking out would look cool. Maybe an Amazon sun-dappled pool for that super shallow one.
Me and my wife went there about 3 and a half years ago. It was also around 4 hours drive for us. Amazing place, George farmer visits quite often thats how I found out about the place

I hope this was as fun as it looks, with the time to imagine and new ideas, I can't wait to see what you do next!
Thank you, it certainly was good fun!

Goodness I need to raid that place with a big shopping basket! Amazing place. Thanks for the show around Matt
Wish we had more places like that here for plants and hardscape , there tanks are very nice but I still like the way you aqua scape your tanks better.
Thank you, that's the fun thing with scaping, tons of different styles for tons of different tastes.
So glad your pumping out content, always look forward to one of your vids and MD of course, can't wait for the 8ft tank to progress!
Thank you!
I love the super shallow tank!!!❤
Thank you so much for taking us along with you both! What a great field trip! These tanks are breathtaking!
The low tank would be fun in the middle of a tabletop so you can see it from the sides and top, your wife probably wouldn’t want it on the dining table though.
The rock looks like it’s covered in spider web, so cool.
the super shallow tank at the end, KULHI loaches !
There are so many options!!!

Yeah it's on the list but it is nearly 6 hours from me I think.
@@FishShopMatt Yeh, it's a long way up North! Make a weekend of it and have a night in Newcastle while you're up that way! 😉 🍻
I definitely love the tanks with more negative space. They are more calming and restful to look at. Also can't wait to see what you are going to make with your haul!
That super shallow would work super well with bog plants! It’s something I’ve wanted to do myself.
For the super shallow, do a bunch of rocks, then add succulents above the waterline on the rocks - combined with some ornamental fringe grasses. Then, under the water, make it a habitat for Mexican Dwarf Orange crayfish!
I was with you until the crayfish, unfortunately they are illegal in the UK! ☹️☹️😯
I grow hens and chicks on the rocks above the waterline. Super cool plant.@@FishShopMatt
excited for the super shallow tank!!
Cool stuff, Matt! That low tank is awesome can't wait to see what you do with it and WHERE it will go! Love you and MD, so glad to see your channel doing good and really enjoy all of the new things you are up to! Keep it up, it's great!
Thank you so much!
Amazing video! Upping the quality every time :)
Thanks for this tour! I love when MD and you overlap content, but your video is very different so I appreciate it!
nice to see your own vlog for this Matt after mentioning this previously. what a store as well. only been to riverwood aquatics in the uK but can only imagine what these are like in person
River wood is a beautiful store! I was lucky to visit it a little while ago.
Aquascape rhetoric has a new zenith.....I will purchase what you tell me to purchase. Thank you master.
I'm so jealous, I love forest scapes and that manzanita wood looks *so* beautiful! Can't wait to see what you come up with :D
My favourite shop, Dave and the team are always helpful and full of knowledge… helped me set up tanks, all my plants come from there. Also been to see a couple of scaping evening, worth seeing with special guests.

Love the look of the mountain rocky out crop

Such a cool shop! I need one of those where I live.
Yeah I wish it was closer to be honest

We've just been using some superfish ones recently and they have helped!

A dream shop that I’d love to visit and really wish I lived near! Nothing like this anywhere near me in the states! Thanks for sharing mate!

Very inspirational! All of those are stunning!
I’m so glad you went there. It’s only 50 mins from me and I had no idea it existed! Thanks Matt🫡😂😊
I have to agree with some of the comments here-you guys do a great job without turning every tank into an intensive care unit’s worth of equipment 👍
Lucky me less than 10min drive, their tanks do look amazing. The island wood scape thing was done by MJ aquascaping.
Thank you for the relaxing and wonderful tour of a beautiful shop! I like the minimalist tanks with the rocks and plants.
Thank you so much for taking us along. I love your ‘travel’ videos ❤
The one near the end that resembled a trail through hills looked like it was from The Shire. Just needed some hobbits.
Super shallow be cool to do a rice patty set up with.
I feel so lucky, I can harvest manzanita all over where I live
Stunningly gorgeous tanks. Number 2 was my favourite. I guess Dave likes to live dangerously having the water level that high on all those tanks 🫣 I’d be scared of fish jumping out 🫢

Yea Dave is a great guy and so helpful. I couldn’t believe how much he helped and advised me. Even saving me money by advising me not to get some stuff I thought I needed but didn’t 👍
You and Md should hold a workshop in your studio, helping people join the workshop set up a small tank.
Thank you, yeah I have some plans I'll just see if I can make it look good.
Loved this video! The scapes were amazing! Can't wait to see what you do with the cool stuff you got! 😎
Thanks so much!!
Those are awesome
Watching from Australia💜 loving your videos
Yay! Thank you!
Great video, thanks for posting
7:30 haha, that Harlequin Rasbora tank looks exactly like something MD would make
Plants, plants and more plants.
That was amazing. I can't wait to see what you do with it all:) ☺💙🐟🐠🐡
Me too!!
Great video. The guys at Aquarium Gardens are brilliant. Had the pleasure of speaking to Dave a couple of weeks ago, super nice guy and helped me out no end.
I’m so lucky to only be half hour from Dave’s shop. Love it there! Nice selection of purchases 👍
Wow never seen mapleleaf rock before looks realy cool
It's a very cool rock!
Beautiful but to perfect
That’s a cool shop! Gonna have to check them out for sure. Especially all those plants! Amazing. And excited to see what you make from the new hardscape, love the sound of the sunken forest
Yeah I've got some plans, we will see how well it comes out hahaha.
A used to live near Huntingdon (born and raised not far away) this didn’t exist when I lived there and now I’m 7 hours away I’m gutted.
Thank you for showing these beautiful tanks ❤from🇦🇺
love this shop! Dave is so knowledgeable and helpful. he is helping me turn my 5ft tank from marine to a planted tank.
Amazing, he is so helpful!
I need to go there!! 😮
My favourite place for online plant ordering. UKAPS for the win!
❤ loved it Matt. What avset up at That shop!!! My favourite was the jungly tank. What a treat. 😊
Thank you!
Love the trip in the UK you have some awesome shops. Wish there were more near me in the USA
I NEEEED 1 of those shallow tank aswell 😂
What an amazing selection of stuff at that place.
😜✌️💜
Yeah I'm excited for the super shallow!
It be cool to do a series of these visits to good independents around the UK.
Oooo there is an idea.
Matt & MD, the Grand Tour…… work trip so tax deductible too ;)
I get most of my aquarium plants from them. Great quality and competitively priced.
I didn't look at the price to be honest but the quality was great!
Wish there were shops like this in my area. My lfs is working on it but this is just breathtaking
Yeah it's hard to be a specialist store.
Wow, super setups there, each one is a gem! Looking forward to see what you do with that super shallow tank. Glad you found the wood you wanted it will look great in a setup.
Next time I'm in England I will be going to Aquarium Gardens!
Definitely worth a visit.
Yeah a nice video it’s a bit early but that’s good that you visited other stores
It's a great store!
Yay MD made it into a Fish Shop Matt vid
Hahaha just.
Love it! 🎉
One word (STUNNING) 🤷🤷
Are you sure that's Manzanita? I live in an area where Manzanita is native and the main characteristic is that the wood has a striking red color. That looked very brown. It looked nice for sure, but definitely didn't look red.
Would love to go there but it’s a mission from Scotland 🤦♂️🤪 But horizon aquatics is great as well tho definitely worth a visit if your ever near Northumberland direction
Matt, what type of Moss was in the 1st tank ?? making a shrimp tank soon.
Nice looking tanks!
They are amazing!
@@FishShopMatt really enjoy your content. So well done and keep being you!

great video, i love your content
Wow to the tank around 8 mins with the lava rock. How did they make it so big!?
It's amazing isn't it!
How do you get white manzanita? Is it bleached? I've only seen red -- it grows all over here in California!
It's probably sandblasted to make sure there is no bark/hitchhiker's coming into the country
I wonder whether quite heavily sculptured rock like maple leaf rock might offer enhanced biological filtration like liverock does in marine setups? Not the same level of porosity I suppose.
Absolutely it would, greater surface areas will always help a fishtank thrive.
Dressing Gown Matt
I love me some Bathrobe Matt!
What were the plants in the grassy tank. That was cool.
Wooohoo
Thanks for tuning in!
If you had a gimbal your videos would be like a beautiful cinematics, i think this would be a good investment :D

Vampire crabs for the super shallow.
