Fabulous song from a fabulous band! Everything The Yardbirds did was fantastic! Their music sounds just as fresh and current as it did in the 60s. I love those Yardbirds!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤

I miss his vocals too. Fantastic song, and IMO his best performance. I remember reading in "Rolling Stone"a long time ago that Robert Plant was a much better singer than Relf--and I remember thinking, "Really? Is it just me who likes Keith's singing a LOT more?" Nice to come across this video and find people who agree with me!

The Yardbirds were and are one of a handful of groups whose work and influence is there for all time.Beck was and is a stellar guitarist who only had one equal and he had not landed at the time of this recording he was Jimi Hendrix. I still get the same buzz today listening to this as i did in March 1966 .great record great group.

This is what the '60's were all about. This song gives a beautiful lesson about judging people at face value before accepting their true worth as individuals. It also has some nice harmonies, beautiful bass line, and an excellent guitar solo. A great song.

You are absolutely right...Jimmy's solo in the live versions of "Immigrant Song" comes directly from this tune.He also uses licks from this in his "Over The Hills and Far Away" solo-all these are in F# and he uses these same licks everytime he plays in that keys.He used to play this Beck solo pretty close in his live versions with The Yardbirds.

Jeff influenced me to play the guitar. You're A Better Man Than I was the first Yardbird song I taught myself to play back when I was in high school. I learned the rhythm, the bass, and with a lot of practice, the lead. This was lip synced to the original recording from the Having A Rave Up album.

This ones proof that the Yardbirds didn't even have to play fast and hard to still deliver the goods.

  • @Ram44

The overall feel of this solo was used by Page for the live solos of Immigrant Song (also in F#). I consider Beck's solo here the bare bones blueprint for Page later. Not to say Page wouldn't have come across it, I mean you're soloing in F#, this feel fits both songs.
