I love that he's enjoying Heavensward. This was when I fell in love with the game, Shadowbringers did top this expansion in a lot of ways but THIS one is the game changer.

Honestly, I think the narration when entering new zones is such a small detail that makes everything feel way more epic in FFXIV. I actually can't wait to enter a new zone and I love it! Love seeing him enjoy the journey :)
I wonder...what percentage of his chat hasn't played & isn't actively playing the game right now, and is experiencing it along with him in real time during his streams? The idea that there's a large amount of people experiencing the game this way...is actually pretty cool! It's refreshing to see chat reacting in real time just as he is. It evokes a similar feeling to watching a long anticipated movie for the 1st time with a huge crowd of people.

A lot of you are getting butt hurt on how asmon actually is. Is he actually enjoying the story now? Sure but it's not the important part for him. If you watched any of his other content he's said that multiple times.
Asmon literally spent like 30 minutes arguing with chat during the scene at the end where Estinien says their only choice is to kill Nidhogg. People were trying to tell him he was wrong for siding with Estinien and he went the fuck off. Chatter: "You have to think about it from the dragons' perspective." Asmon: "Why? Why don't they think about it from our perspective? Exactly. We gotta fuckin' kill him." Absolutely based.
@Urazz why do people keep repeating "for dragons it was just like it was yesterday." Everyone knows that already. It was repeated in chat for like 2 hours like it was a silver bullet. Asmons point was that it doesnt matter how he feels, if he doesnt die hes gonna send dragons to eat the men, women, and children in ishgard. Which is obviously evil and must be stopped. Even the game sides with asmond by the end of the expac.
It's like they think that the bad guy having a reason for his evil acts makes them okay. No it doesn't it's an us vs them situation now and killing Nidhogg saves innocent lives of course you're going to do it.

We can sympathize with Nidhogg anger towards the humans and we can understand Estinien point when he wants to kill the dragons because the dragons have killed so many innocents. While we don't agree with Nidhogg we can sympathize with him. Great writing.

The problem I have with the whole "but for the DRAGONS it's like this happened YESTERDAY" thing is that *the dragons* are the ones who fucking *tell you this* and even Nidhogg himself explains it that way- which is honestly just ridiculous, because it means they (and he, himself) are completely self-aware of the problem... and when someone is *self-aware* of their misgiving, they don't really have that defense available to them any more, you know? "You can't blame me, I'm so angry that I'm beyond reason!" ...I mean, it sounds like you're thinking pretty reasonably, if you realize it.

@@Kpyocap There's easter eggs like that littered throughout - lots of times if you're a registered member of a guild and get sent to the guild during MSQ, the guildmaster calls you by name and says "hey yo 'sup! " in so many words. If you are scholar in Wanderer's Palace HM, one of the NPCs says "Oh thank goodness you're here" whereas any other job only gets a plea from help since you're possibly a stranger.
@@Kpyocap Not MSQ, but in the temple of the monk dungeon (i forgot it's name, its in Stormblood), your character will comment that they are a practitioner of being a monk. If there are any other job-related lines in the game, i haven't seen them yet. Then again, I rushed through MSQ while having Monk, White Mage, and Dark Knight.
Hey bro, i'm a bit behind you but have joined FFXIV also. Enjoying every little bit about it, taking it slow and immersing in the story, which is vastly different than WoW. 16 years in WoW also and even though it was a difficult decision to leave, i'm glad I did. Can't wait to see all the expansions and play my way through this!
I remember when a lot of people on Twitter (tip: don't visit Twitter, it's toxic) said he couldn't get past ARR when he announced he would be playing FF14. A month later Asmon is playing Heavensward. I would love to see their reactions now 😂

Chat was super embarrassing how much they were malding over Asmongold being 100% right that Ishgard's current people aren't the ones who killed Ratatoskr, and that it doesn't matter if a dragon sees time slower compared to people - the descendants did not participate in what happened.
I don't disagree with you, 100% morally speaking, Nidhogg is in the wrong. But 'Sins of the Father' and all is unfortunately a real thing experienced in the real world today. People are and will be blinded by their rage (or other feelings) regardless. It's easy to see the truth outside looking in, but being in the scenario itself is different. Especially when considering the disparity of how life is experienced between the dragons and mortals. I can see and understand (to an extent) Nidhogg's perspective, even as I condemn it.
part of the problem is that this is actualy a case of an entirely different morality. dragons aren't humans and they don't have human morals or sensibilities.
It's not as complicated as people make it out to be. Emotions don't make things right. Nighogg can't see reason, and must be stopped so there can be peace. That's it.
I love the characters in Heavensward. Ysale, Estinien and Alphinaud have sucha a great dynamic that it makes you think twice about the opinion you had created about them. Also the music man, how good. Acting is also way better than before.

I CAN NOT WAIT for Asmon to be caught up with the story and then go back and watch the Endwalker trailer. That is going to hit so, so different after getting to know all of the characters and their stories.
@@MattX28025 Yes! Even though I never played the original Final Fantasy I somehow felt a touch of nostalgia when I first heard it. Idyllshire's theme takes me back to FF11 kingdom of Sandoria vibes all over and omg the dungeon battle music is just mesmerising.
ikr? I love "Solid" which is Ishgard's day theme. Also the day and night themes of the Azim Steppe and the night theme of Ruby Sea in Stormblood, fills me with nostalgia, i dunno why.
My only complaint about Final Steps of Faith is that if you're doing it without min ilvl turned on, you don't hear much of it bc everyone burns through Phase one so fast.
I JUST hit heavensward today. super excited to experience the rest of the story. ARR lost my attention after the main story concluded but for HW i'm going to make sure to read everything thoroughly
Honestly the game is the same in heavendsward. Extremely dull parts just like arr. It's jut with all the world building and all the time spent on the story, the epic parts and twist and turns hit harder. Only because the time you've spent with the characters and story. It's not exactly improving its just more compelling.
Yeah, ARR is a necessary evil. It sets up the background plots and characters that you need to appreciate Heavensward. To skip ARR is like skipping the 1st season of GoT
Y'know, it's nice to see people so supportive, but I think they need to chill out and let him play the game, that is to say, don't interfere in the MSQ stuff. If they want to spectate, that's fine, but I really think they should maintain a more respectful distance. But that's just how I personally feel.
id personally hate to have a parade following me all the time during MSQs. kinda ruins the immersion. but then, i'm not asmon so i dont know his own thoughts on that.
It's much calmer in the alt channel, no one follow him around but people kept trading him lots of nice shit tho (most he accepts, some he refuse and my favorite one is this lala trading him a 50m gil mount and he's like "i wont take it if it costs all your money" and the lala went "i have a couple billions" and he took it so fast)
The narrator somehow upped the storytelling in this one. Fits really well. Also they picked a great voice actor for the role. Chapeau bas, Squenix. On a side note... the choice of words was a little unfortunate at 41:24... "Special boys" being left alone with the priest does not have a very good conotation xD
I love Asmonds experience of FF, its the happiest i seen him in a game, as was my trip into FF. Its just a different experience to my Wow yrs. I had those game feelings a few times in wow but they never lasted, unlike what i get in FF which has legs.
I just absolutely love the way Asmon reads the Dialogue, most of the time i'm too impatient to read everything when i play by my self so i watch Asmons MSQ to keep up with the story.
Heavensward was awesome. The expansions keep getting better too. Shadowbringers is epic and Endwalker won't disappoint either cause no expansion was bad. Even Stormblood was epic.

But contents wise, most ppl agree that SB is arguably one of the best expac. Raids, side quests, trials, deep dungeons,etc. are high quality
@@gladjohnson3117 Stormblood feels like a post-game ARR with a lot of fetch quests and a story that is out of focus. It's a really uneven experience compared to the other expansions. The story is really good when the main plot is moving, but when it's not, you're stuck with filler. With two major story arcs going on at the same time, I feel that Stormblood was a bit too overly ambitious for its own good. Though as much flak Stormblood gets, the post-game story is one of the best and perhaps even surpasses the other FF14 expansion. The raids and trials in Stormblood imo is vastly better than all the other expansions including Shadowbringers imo, but having the weaker main story definitely doesn't make it memorable for the FF14 community.

Have you ever seen a currently popular celebrity not swarmed/followed by his/her fans when he/she openly announce where she's going? If you don't, that's because either you couldn't be care less about the said celebrity, or he/she is going out incognito without security and prior announcement. Same goes here. People won't follow him if he play the game off stream. But you won't get to see it cause it's off stream. If you want to see someone stream an mmo with only small amount of people openly following, then search out a less popular streamer. For example, Alnino9 (a guild wars 2 streamer) has the vod of his streams playing FFXIV uploaded in his youtube channel (he has played up to post-Shadowbringer). There was very little amount of people following him in-game and some were pretty much the people he always partied with during the MSQ. If you don't know him, then it only further proof my point, correct?

It is cringe and creepy. It makes the person uncomfortable and enjoy their experiences less. There is a reason there are laws in most places that restrict paparazzi and stalkers. @10:30 When i first reached this part i turned off my HUD and just got really immersed in trying to find the heretics. I was lost for half an hour and was relieved to find the house. I'd assumed it was empty as I'd discovered the area earlier to starting the quest... when I reached the lower floor and the heretics came from behind the pillars I remember being very surprised. This was an exciting moment for me hahaha

@@Ageleszly It has always been said it was the story that was amazing starting in HW. I don't know anyone who has said it was the gameplay that made it amazing starting in HW. Not to mention it is just Extremes, Savages, and Ultimates for challenging content, the normal stuff is there for people to experience the story.

what is this game localized in? i know it’s voiced in Japanese, English, German, and French. but i thought maybe the text and subtitles would have much more options
@@MysticLuka yes each language has its own client and voice tracks. though if you dont know any of them... most people default to the english client. Dont have to worry about the old time english, it does get lessened with each passing expansion, even Urianger doesnt speak it quite as much anymore outside of a few words, to maintain his character of being 'learned'.
I love his perspective on the MSQ, and getting a refresher myself. I have forgotten much of the story and I think I rushed a lot of it and missed certain interesting details. Not to mention my future spoiler perspective also helps me.

Having just finished post-heavensward tonight as a dragoon, it is so worth the wait dude. I've never felt more immersed in my character while playing an mmo.

You're spot on about "The Illuminati". Ishgard Orthodox Cathedral, the Ascians... priests of one of the dungeons. My main is halfway through Shadowbringers. Callexia Crescent of the Maduin server (Dynamis DC). FFXIV is one great game. Naoki Yoshida is AMAZING
1:44:10 Actually, in that part of the fight, Ravana will target whomever he wants regardless of aggro. You can tell by looking at the enmity meters on party HUD. Whoever has the A is the one he's after......Or the target's target to the right of the target's bar...............Or by looking in front of you.
I finished Heavensward yesterday and am currently doing the patch quests into Stormblood. I think... I haven't seen the Stormblood intro card yet but it already feels like I'm in Stormblood already lol. Heavensward was great. I loved the OST. Like always though, the start was kinda iffy when you were being an errand boy/girl but it did get so much better. I'm also freakin loving the dark knight storyline! Sucks that we went from Fray to Sidurgu.. I would've liked to see more of Fray.
Basically, the patches from Heavensward on have a theme. The x.1 through x.3 patches are a "finish" to that expansion's storyline, with loose ends tied up and character arcs fulfilled. Then the x.4 and x.5 patches are setup leading into the following expansion. I won't say what happens in it, but if you're past "The Final Steps of Faith", you're in the Stormblood buildup.
This shows just how awesome us FFXIV players and our community is. I think you just missed the vigil that had been in Ul'dah and a few of the other cities for Berserk Creator Kentaro Miura. There was another vigil and paid respects for a player who was dying. The only time I had seen this was back when Vanilla and Burning Crusade were WoW, before all the rest of the Expansions. The player immortalized was the one who was in the early Tauren area asking about his dog.
Big respect to Asmongold, I have quite a lot of trouble pronouncing American names, but being able to pronounce names like Qaletaqa, Galilahi, Chalchihuitlcue, and Chicomecoatl is certainly impressive.
For the record, if from Nidhogg's perspective Thoradin's betrayl was a moment ago, then from the Ishgardians' perspective the war has gone on for 12 eternities. It flows both ways.

@@Kpyocap There's easter eggs like that littered throughout - lots of times if you're a registered member of a guild and get sent to the guild during MSQ, the guildmaster calls you by name and says "hey yo 'sup! " in so many words. If you are scholar in Wanderer's Palace HM, one of the NPCs says "Oh thank goodness you're here" whereas any other job only gets a plea from help since you're possibly a stranger.
@@Kpyocap Not MSQ, but in the temple of the monk dungeon (i forgot it's name, its in Stormblood), your character will comment that they are a practitioner of being a monk.
If there are any other job-related lines in the game, i haven't seen them yet. Then again, I rushed through MSQ while having Monk, White Mage, and Dark Knight.
This is where the payoff of ARR starts rewarding you threefold.
And still paying off to this day.

I don't disagree with you, 100% morally speaking, Nidhogg is in the wrong. But 'Sins of the Father' and all is unfortunately a real thing experienced in the real world today. People are and will be blinded by their rage (or other feelings) regardless. It's easy to see the truth outside looking in, but being in the scenario itself is different. Especially when considering the disparity of how life is experienced between the dragons and mortals. I can see and understand (to an extent) Nidhogg's perspective, even as I condemn it.

I love the characters in Heavensward. Ysale, Estinien and Alphinaud have sucha a great dynamic that it makes you think twice about the opinion you had created about them. Also the music man, how good. Acting is also way better than before.

Honestly the game is the same in heavendsward. Extremely dull parts just like arr. It's jut with all the world building and all the time spent on the story, the epic parts and twist and turns hit harder. Only because the time you've spent with the characters and story. It's not exactly improving its just more compelling.
Yeah, ARR is a necessary evil. It sets up the background plots and characters that you need to appreciate Heavensward.
To skip ARR is like skipping the 1st season of GoT

It's much calmer in the alt channel, no one follow him around but people kept trading him lots of nice shit tho (most he accepts, some he refuse and my favorite one is this lala trading him a 50m gil mount and he's like "i wont take it if it costs all your money" and the lala went "i have a couple billions" and he took it so fast)
The narrator somehow upped the storytelling in this one. Fits really well. Also they picked a great voice actor for the role.

I love Asmonds experience of FF, its the happiest i seen him in a game, as was my trip into FF. Its just a different experience to my Wow yrs. I had those game feelings a few times in wow but they never lasted, unlike what i get in FF which has legs.

I just absolutely love the way Asmon reads the Dialogue, most of the time i'm too impatient to read everything when i play by my self so i watch Asmons MSQ to keep up with the story.
I love that there are alternate voice lines recorded in case you play through as Dragoon.
Heavensward was awesome. The expansions keep getting better too. Shadowbringers is epic and Endwalker won't disappoint either cause no expansion was bad. Even Stormblood was epic.

@@gladjohnson3117 Stormblood feels like a post-game ARR with a lot of fetch quests and a story that is out of focus. It's a really uneven experience compared to the other expansions. The story is really good when the main plot is moving, but when it's not, you're stuck with filler. With two major story arcs going on at the same time, I feel that Stormblood was a bit too overly ambitious for its own good.
Though as much flak Stormblood gets, the post-game story is one of the best and perhaps even surpasses the other FF14 expansion. The raids and trials in Stormblood imo is vastly better than all the other expansions including Shadowbringers imo, but having the weaker main story definitely doesn't make it memorable for the FF14 community.
Why do you see it that way? For the story alone? Because the gameplay hasn't changed a bit, it only became more streamlined. I thought the game could become now super varied and challenging, but was left completely dissatisfied because you fanboys/-girl were promising me everything under the sun.

Have you ever seen a currently popular celebrity not swarmed/followed by his/her fans when he/she openly announce where she's going? If you don't, that's because either you couldn't be care less about the said celebrity, or he/she is going out incognito without security and prior announcement. Same goes here. People won't follow him if he play the game off stream. But you won't get to see it cause it's off stream.
If you want to see someone stream an mmo with only small amount of people openly following, then search out a less popular streamer. For example, Alnino9 (a guild wars 2 streamer) has the vod of his streams playing FFXIV uploaded in his youtube channel (he has played up to post-Shadowbringer). There was very little amount of people following him in-game and some were pretty much the people he always partied with during the MSQ.

It is cringe and creepy. It makes the person uncomfortable and enjoy their experiences less. There is a reason there are laws in most places that restrict paparazzi and stalkers. Just because it happens in a video game, does not justify it as being more acceptable or less awkward for the victim.

@10:30 When i first reached this part i turned off my HUD and just got really immersed in trying to find the heretics. I was lost for half an hour and was relieved to find the house. I'd assumed it was empty as I'd discovered the area earlier to starting the quest... when I reached the lower floor and the heretics came from behind the pillars I remember being very surprised. This was an exciting moment for me hahaha

Not to mention it is just Extremes, Savages, and Ultimates for challenging content, the normal stuff is there for people to experience the story.

I'm mostly referring to the story in my original post, but the game does become better in the complexity of its trials and raids each expansion. Dont have to worry about the old time english, it does get lessened with each passing expansion, even Urianger doesnt speak it quite as much anymore outside of a few words, to maintain his character of being 'learned'.

1:44:10 Actually, in that part of the fight, Ravana will target whomever he wants regardless of aggro. You can tell by looking at the enmity meters on party HUD. Whoever has the A is the one he's after......Or the target's target to the right of the target's bar...............Or by looking in front of you.
Only happens on extreme, on hard he will always target the other tank. On extreme its random but the other tank can pick the tether off them.

I finished Heavensward yesterday and am currently doing the patch quests into Stormblood. I think... I haven't seen the Stormblood intro card yet but it already feels like I'm in Stormblood already lol.
Heavensward was great. I loved the OST. Like always though, the start was kinda iffy when you were being an errand boy/girl but it did get so much better. I'm also freakin loving the dark knight storyline! Sucks that we went from Fray to Sidurgu.. I would've liked to see more of Fray.
Basically, the patches from Heavensward on have a theme.
The x.1 through x.3 patches are a "finish" to that expansion's storyline, with loose ends tied up and character arcs fulfilled. Then the x.4 and x.5 patches are setup leading into the following expansion.
I won't say what happens in it, but if you're past "The Final Steps of Faith", you're in the Stormblood buildup.

This shows just how awesome us FFXIV players and our community is. I think you just missed the vigil that had been in Ul'dah and a few of the other cities for Berserk Creator Kentaro Miura. There was another vigil and paid respects for a player who was dying. The only time I had seen this was back when Vanilla and Burning Crusade were WoW, before all the rest of the Expansions. The player immortalized was the one who was in the early Tauren area asking about his dog.
