We also have to consider trauma and shock Gojo had suffered during Riko mission: Detachment is one of the coping mechanisms your brain creates when you suffer physical or mental shock. "Not feeling anything" for some time after traumatic event, is very common occurrence.
gojos mental state after reviving himself, is a bit of a mystery. he could’ve had a change in mindset bc of what he experienced, or he could’ve genuinely been delirious due to being dead for an extended period of time before brute forcing reversed curse energy to revive himself.
Wouldn't it be weirder if any of the characters were sane? They're literally child soldiers brought up to kill curses and watch their friends die gruesome deaths, with their own gruesome death being an inevitability. Not only do they have to kill curses as kids they also have to murder other people (curse users). Gojo is not a psycho, he actually cares about people and will self sacrifice for them, but he has been ostracized from society and he doesn't feel fulfilled until his first fight with Toji and later Sukuna. A psychopath?!!!! No way dude, I think his detachment is more so a result of being a child soldier who has been hunted since literal birth by everyone around him.
To the point of him not feeling empathy for Riko's death... People are all too quick to forget that he had JUST healed his left frontal lobe being scrambled by Toji's knife... The left frontal lobe controls emotions related to engaging with the world, such as happiness, pride, and anger... Also he doesn't express himself as feeling empty about Riko's death... I don't know what the original Japanese says but the English translation of the anime says: "everything just feels so wonderful right now" over top of glamor shots of nature... From my perspective this implies that his "awakening" has given him an enhanced awareness and connection to the world around him and is causing individual things such as a single person's death to feel insignificant in comparison. I also think his manipulation of Inumaki and Panda had to do with good strategy rather than manipulation for personal gain... I think Gojo suspected he would not be emotionally capable of killing Geto & was trying to engineer a situation where that would happen without his direct involvement but that he was eventually capable of finishing off a mortally wounded Geto.
@JadedSatoru no I meant that he would still probably be having impaired emotions due to brain damage during the aftermath of healing his brain with the reverse curse technique. But that it would've healed eventually. Probably off screen, between the scene where he's holding Riko's body the rest of the hidden inventory arc, he would've finished repairing it enough for his regular emotions to return. I think probably a day or so after he awakened he would be more back to normal

He suffered trauma, both psychological and physical trauma, which presumably made him feel detached. AND he was high on positive energy created from the reversed cursed technique.
