looks good. what Wifi are you running and models? I've got UAP-AC-Pro's and getting 243down/284up.... Can you do a video on iperf as that would be helpful too?
Thanks for this! It appears I can only access Open Speed Test on one port at a time. If OST is connected on one device, it cannot be simultaneously connected on a second device (using same port or different ports -- either one). Could a second instance of OST be installed on Docker, or is there a way to allow multiple connections? The use case for this is testing Link Aggregation. I theoretically have 2Gbs throughput to my network switch, but I cannot prove that since no other single device on my network has >1Gbs. Is there a work-around, or another tool to test link aggregated throughput?
Hi and thank you for this video. I was wondering if you could help me figure out why my speeds are so slow over wireless when testing with the openspeedtest? I am running a udm pro with a uap-ac-pro (pretty much stock config). Thank you
Hey, to be honest this could be multiple things with WiFi first thing to do is check the speed is as expected with a hard wired device. Then check with WiFi, the WiFi speed is determined by the Device (so iPhone model for example) how the Unifi AP is set up eg hardwired or mesh then what channel its using also if there is any interference etc, lots of things that determines WiFI speed.
Thank you for the reply. I will look into my WiFi / AP settings and hopefully find out what is happening. The AP is hardwired, but still get similar results from various laptops and tablets (20-50 Mbps). I have tried VHT 20, 40, and 80 channels, but doesn't seem to change much and it doesn't show much wireless interference.
O.k I figured out the Edge browser was inerfering somehow. Worked on Firefox. Is this testing the outgoing speed from my NAS to my Plex client users, or just the speed between my NAS and my PC?
Success! I got Openspeedtest running on my NAS thanks to this video. A beginner question: is there a security risk to keeping those ports open? In other words, after running the tests, is it advisable to disable open speed test and/or Docker? (I don't foresee using Docker for anything else.) Thanks!
Hey Bob, glad it helped, no problem with docker running and yes it’s not a big security risk but anything leaving “doors” (ports) open eg speed test on your network can In theory be used to access your network. Docker is great to install maybe Home Assistant on later which is a great program to control / monitor your smart home devices.
@@TheComputerLab Thanks for the speedy reply! I just discovered that Docker can't be stopped/disabled (unless I missed something), though it's easy to start/stop speed test, which I did out of an abundance of caution (and since I won't need to test frequently). Speed from my Ethernet-connected hackintosh was close to the 1 Gbps spec. I'm surprised how slow it was via WiFi on my iPad in the same room as my Wifi (v5) router - about 150 Mpbs each direction, but that doesn't really matter - the Ethernet-to-mac is what I really wanted to know. Will soon be trying a 2.5 Gbps USB 3 to Ethernet adapter with my NAS, via a third-party (unofficial) driver.
Thanks for sharing, this is an easy and fast way to check speed through the network.
Hello, great video. Unfortunately, I cannot find docker in my package center. When I search, Dr., all I come up with is container manager.
Great video, thanks for sharing. Up and running first time through.
Glad it helped
Worked perfectly. Thanks for the video.!

Hey thanks Mr G, Will look into doing a iPerf video for Synology DS, I’m running multiple different AP’s - LR, Pro, and several in wall.

Hey - The speed test I show in this video is for internal network speed so between your Synology NAS and PC

You are using wifi 6 for clients and hosting too?
Do not have Docker in my package center!
Some of the Synology don’t run Docker
Same here. Can't find Docker on my DS416play
Every speed test I try keeps saying NETWORK ERROR! when I run the test.
Glad you figured out it was your Egde browser and you now have it working
