Loyalty is one thing, but you still have to be producing on the field and Mike Evans IS producing! Some of these older Bowles defensive starters are NOT producing at their expected level and that is the difference! What takes Evans a few weeks of recovery takes these defensive players all season on and off with injuries. You have to have players you can depend on week in and week out to have a cohesive unit and run a competent scheme! Bowles defensive staff is another area of concern, either adapt and innovate, or be left behind the rest of the NFL.

When it comes to our edge players it depends on how aggressively Jason Licht will pursue an edge rusher in free agency.
If I was Jason Licht I would offer $16 million for a 2 year contract to sign Khalil Mack . I would offer Jamel Dean or a future second round pick or a third round pick to trade for Herbig from Steelers.
After securing Khalil Mack and Herbig , I would sign Shaq Barret to a 1 year rotational role contract and try to do the same regarding Anthony Nelson.
Our Edge group would be Herbig and Diaby as starters , rotating with Khalil Mack and Shaq Barret. That would be a great pass rush group
