When i went to U of Missouri at Columbia, after K-State, i was both on the student music committee and co-pres of the LBGT student group. . . . Melissa had just really broken thru with "Yes I Am", the song " I'm the Only One" video with Jen Anniston in heavy rotation on MTV and VH1, and the students spent what's was a too-cheap, embarrassing sum for her to do a concert. . . .Free to everybody who showed, it was the best-attended production, thousands, and many turned away at the door. . . . .This was aiso coinciding with the school's LGBT Pride Week, and with a nervously-shaky stutter, i mentioned to Ms. Etheridge that we were having a showing of the AIDS Names Memorial Quilt the next day or so and she encouraged the audience to come to that. Amazing person, amazing performer, and I'm so happy she enriched my life and so many.
