Nike Vomero 5 vs New Balance 2002r
Nike's Vomero 5 was originally released in 2011 and is currently on the Nike Vomero 16 model in 2023. 2022 saw a rise in the retro model bringing a lot of new fans into this year. Current prices on Nike Vomero 5 $160

New Balance's 2002r originally came out in 2010 as a follow up to the New Balance 2001. The original 2002R had a $250 price tag. However the 2022 and current version of the 2002R has midsole of the 860V2 from 2012. Current Price of the New Balance 2002R are $140-$160

Nike Vomero 5 has more mesh, is softer on feet with Zoom air and cushlon underfoot and lighter as well. Has a more sporty look and feet IMO.
New Balance 2002R has more suede and leather, more of a traditional cut and sew look with some mesh.
The cushioning is firmer with the ABZORB midsole and Nrgy cushioning, however they are comfortable as well and have more support and traction.
Which should you buy? Whichever you like more :)

I prefer the 2002r visually. But the Vomero has been my go to sneaker when I’m going on trips or walking all day. It hasn’t failed me yet

I was just looking for this comparison! I’ve been seeing a lot dad shoes (particularly NB 1906, 2002r, ASICS Gel NYC, ASICS Gel 1130, ASICS Gel 1090 and Nike Vomero 5s) all over social media and I was looking for a comparison video because the Vomero 5s are like the gold standard in comfort for me.

Wouldn’t the 1906r be a more direct comparison, certainly in my eyes the 1906 and vomero look very similar with their plastic heel cup and mesh uppers.

even tho I've got a soft spot for NB, the Vomero 5's are SOOOOO good on feet - I have a pair just for in the house to wear around that I have like slippers with extra cushion and spring
As someone who has both. Vomero 5s are a great Nike sneaker and they pop more depending on the colorway. However I don’t think they’re more comfortable at all. The 2002R beats the Vomero in comfort and quality everyday.
I can wear the 2002R all day but the Vomeros start to hurt my feel after awhile

Vomero 5s are hyped. The NB 2002r is better in terms of the comfort. Don’t know why everyone keeps saying Vomero 5 is super comfortable, they’re not as squishy as the Boost but if you compare it with NB 2002r, the Absorb midsole is better. Vomero 5s are just lighter, they’re sub-standard, even Adidas’s Cloudfoam sneakers and Puma’s SoftFoam sneakers would beat it hands down.
I’m just guessing you all haven’t tried all midsoles under the sun to conclude Vomeros as the best, Nike already has Invincible Run series as the softest ride out there. No hate to anyone but just like this creator, I own 60+ sneakers and have tried all midsoles. My order of comfort would be Boost midsoles found in Yeezys and UltraBoosts, Zoom X in Nike Invincible Runs, Absorb midsole in NB 2002R, 1906R, ENRGY midsole in NB 574, CX in Converse, Cloudfoam in Adidas sneakers, SoftFoam in Pumas, then followed by Asics and Reebok.
I've purchased more 2002Rs than any sneaker at the moment. Mostly the refined future models. I'm curious about the 1906Rs too since the midsole is the same but sleeker shoe.
I gotta count but I think I got my 7 or 8 pairs of the 2002r 😂

The comfort is absolutely crazy, and the futuristic design kills it.
I recently got my first pair of Vomero 5s, and I have to say they are awesome. Super soft shoes tend to make my arches hurt. These are comfortable all day. And the different patterns and such are rad. I wasn't a fan when I saw images, but in hand and on foot, I"m a convert. Pick up a pair.

@@ClearSmoke100 Both things can be true. Nike can be a continent ahead and still feeling the heat from NB right now. There are plenty examples in history of companies who are the biggest in the world at what they do that still try to do whatever they can to stifle the competition regardless of how far ahead they are. They look to kill momentum because even if the chance is slim that the competition catches up they don’t want to take it without doing anything in response. That’s feeling the heat no matter how anyone wants to spin it. Dad shoes have always had a decent following but New Balance is on an undeniably crazy run right now far beyond it’s usual following and the Vomero 5’s return is a pretty clear response to that. Nike will probably be top dog forever but it doesn’t mean that they’re not worried about what another company is doing.

I want to try the vomeros as I hear really good things about the comfort, I have fallen in love with my 1906s as there’s so many good colour ways and styles but the vomeros are so bland (bar this orange pair of course)
Both are dope! The NB overall looks better and are comfortable enough for all day use. The Nike looks great in the Doernbecher and a couple other colorways but Team NB.
