1:43 used to be a Target. It had moved from across the street. 2:05 used to be a Best Buy. 2:54 used to be Bakers Square. The chain is still around but in significantly less numbers. Mostly a Midwest chain from what I remember but similar to a Perkins or Village Inn. 3:10. Was that the old Pizza Hut? 4:28 used to be an Ingalls health center 6:12 used to be a very busy plaza with Toys R Us, a jewelry store, Chuck E Cheese, Factory Card Outlet, Famous Footwear, Christian book store, Pets Smart, Subway, video game store, Office Max, Old Country Buffet and many small stores.
Thanks for a respectful tour. It is sad to see those who just want to damage things. A couple of my family members and myself worked at Lincoln Mall for many years, and the plaza across the street you showed. What a shame retail has tanked so bad.
I worked at the Chuck e cheese and bakers square were my first jobs growing up here. Seeing the mall gone, it had it's glory days very early 90s. All the corruption and just many things tore up our towns
I did security there in 1997. I knew it wouldn't of been long before it closed. I remember going there in the early 80s to alladins castle every weekend.
Great video. I live in Matteson. It's a shame that it's been going downhill ever since Lincoln Mall closed down. However, the good news is Matteson just became a Home Rule community last month. I look forward to all the good things that's coming, because of it.
Thanks Brandon, when I was in Matteson filming this I did see plenty of signs advertising Home Rule Community. I hope this does revitalize Matteson back to it's glory days.
@@ericlikestowander7510 They did mention at the Townhall meeting that they want Home Rule to compete with surrounding areas. Mainly the west, like Tinley Park, Orland Park, and Frankfort.
@@edmondlau511 Kinda hard to explain, but I'll try my best. Basically, it's to have more local control when making decisions for the Village of Matteson instead of relying on the state. It can be used to bring more businesses here, fix our roads quicker, etc.
@@Brandon714_ interesting. I’ve been gone for quite a while and don’t get a chance to go home often. When I do go back, I’m amazed at all the changes that have happened. Lincoln Mall was a huge part of our childhoods growing up in the 80s and 90s.
Makes me sick to see the Mall 🤮 I use to work there in the early 80s. I worked at Florsheim shoes, Mailing shoess ( If I spelled that right 🤣) then at Heekin reserch .
It was a beautiful mall in back in its heyday. I remember going there in the early 90s when I lived in Frankfort. I now live close to Orland Park Mall and I hope it doesn't follow Lincoln Mall's downfall.
Some people haven't healed after having been stripped and kidnapped from their lands, have their identities and names stolen. When a system created by European colonizers destroy a people, destruction is what you get in one form or another.

I grew up in Richton Park and Park Forest. I used to love to go to the mall and especially the arcade. I still miss Lincoln Mall.
Me too!
At 4:28 that used to be a bank. I remember being amazed as a kid that they'd build a bank with glass walls. It was pretty cool.
It's beautiful building, sad that it turned out this way.

cant believe I was able to see it being built! and now.. gone.
I thought that a McDonalds was the coolest thing ever in a mall as a kid!
I didn't know there was one in that mall.It certainly would have been cool at that time.
@@ericlikestowander7510 oh yeah .
Cool run down town...
This would have been a great spot for a casino. Unfortunately, they gave it to Homewood

Wow 😮
Is JC Penny still there?
When I went there less than a year ago, there might have either been a Kohls or JCP left standing and still in business.
I can confirm that JCPenney is still there and opened for business.

There is an ethnic reason why this b has gone the way it looks.
I know what you mean.
What's the reason?
I’m sure you a colonizer making that comment.🤡💩
