    Another great chess session. You are competitive in every game. With a bit quicker play in the middle game, you can reach 8 or 9 points! Thank you for posting

      Ye I noticed that but to his credit he doesn’t really play the clock. Always looking for the best move. Not ideal for blitz sometimes. Entertaining though

    Here’s an experiment. Think you need to hide your opponents name on your screen. You get super positions vs good players but then give them too much respect. Bit of sticky tape over their names. See how you do.

    In the first game I am literally yelling at the screen Nb3 NB3! Its in your Iron English course and I am on those lines. Amazingly enough I have a scene these lines a few times already. haha.

    Great games! Thanks for posting. I think you definitely play a bit more nervously and use up more time against stronger players, I wonder what it would be like if you couldn’t see their ratings!

    Love your channel! You're by far the most knowledgeable, humorous and well-spoken chess youtuber!
    suggestion: You don't have to worry about the pre-move at 14:46!! chescom will ignore illegal moves (can't take your own Q). 'Course - you do have to pay extra attention if opponent doesn't take the rook and then make a proper legal move (again). Differences in the various apps' move mechanics have made folks leery about pre-move; but it's a tactical advantage you seem to need in time trouble (w/ respect watching you for 4 years). I believe that good pre-move tacticians relish and actually look for the extra confidence that an illegal pre-move ensures.

    Ginger on a roll...if you're not in the tournament and you're relaxed. It seems then the key would be to find a way to relax while in the tournament.

    Game against Bok, he had 2 seconds and you had a minute...Then you started thinking for 40 seconds. Would it have been proper to play faster moves there and force him to defend under time pressure?

      Are you just pointing out the clock situation or actually asking a question...because if you're actually asking a question, obviously taking a long think there isn't a great strategy.

    Why are you asking what to do in an opening from a book when the engine is telling you what to do? It gives you several lines that are 5 moves deep. Now that's out of the way, that English opening you played went quite well in spite of you not knowing the theory. The English is definitely an interesting opening, and this coming from an e4 player.

    • @PhilNPrice
      @PhilNPrice ปีที่แล้ว +6

      "Why are you asking what to do in an opening from a book when the engine is telling you what to do?" Simon has addressed this many times in other videos. Humans are not computers. Memorizing computer moves is not going to make you a better player. If you can understand the point of the engine move and learn from it, that's great, go ahead and follow the computer line. But if the move only works because of some complicated tactical sequence then it's probably not the right choice for a human, even a grandmaster. Much better to have a plan and to choose moves that support your plan.

    • @juhonieminen4219
      @juhonieminen4219 ปีที่แล้ว

      Book moves are often better to learn than engine moves. Book moves take you to positions that are much more friendly, unless the theory is very sharp and full of tactics. But then you can take note and learn those traps and use the tactics in future games. If you could easily learn the engine moves it would be book already, because titled players have studied those lines and played them, if the engine makes any real sense for human players.

    • @walterbrownstone8017
      @walterbrownstone8017 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PhilNPrice I literally didn't know until now that Simon isn't an engine guy. Well I can relate because I've just discovered the fun in reading chess books, probably because my visualization skills are just enough to get me through it. But, like I said, the engine gives you several lines, including the human lines, which are easy to pick out because they don't look like computer moves.

    maybe you should mind your own business. didn't take much did it? times like these show you who your friends are and who doesn't need much convincing to throw you under the bus. have fun at the IM level.
