@Peacelily I take the point, but I disagree in part. He was able to pick up passes from his bootlaces whilst in full flow. He was able to take half a team into trying to get him down and then offload the ball to someone to cross the tryline unchecked and unmarked. He was able to sidestep like a man half his size. He didn't often demonstrate his bag of skills basically because he didn't often need them.
veteran Royal Navy, played for the U21s Royal Navy RFC, we had the US Navy come to Portsmouth, and we invited them for a game, crew vs crew, they turned up to the pitch with NFL pads, when we said they are not wearing those on the pitch, they didn't want to have a game with us lol
Jona Lomu an All Black (New Zealand) was 1.95 metres (6' 5") tall and weighed 125 kgs (275 lbs) he could run the 100 metres in Olympic time and a Wallaby ( Australian ) was expected to stop him. He had a kidney transplant because of nephrotic syndrome but made a limited comeback. You have to admire such a man, even though he was the opposition. He sadly died in 2015, a great loss. Jona could have played any game he wanted, including American football, and made a lot of money, but he played rugby for the love of it.
There's a saying among the Rugby fans here in the UK (Specifically my country Wales since Rugby here is like a religion) "Football (soccer) is 90 minutes of pretending you're hurt, Rugby is 80 minutes pretending you're not"
I'm a former rugby player, and I'd do that (if I could) for the rest of my life, it's great. it was a saying in the past, it was said "it is a game of hooligans ,practiced by gentlemens". And the best player in the world from all times was Jonah Lomu...Unfortunately, he is no longer with us now.
@Hendea, best of all time? You're joking right? I can name atleast 5 or 6 from South Africa that can compare with him without his massive steroid usage...
Jonah Lomu with all du respect was the best player for his time but just because of his physique let’s be real , a Jonah lomu speed and strength nowadays are match by a bunch , would he still be a great player sure but skill wise he wasn’t THAT great, was mostly a bulldozer
former rugby player, i always found it funny that americans think nfl is tough, always wondered why america is so sure of itself, not in a hate kind of way, but more in the "just how?" kind of way
Just basically lack of technique. In American, football, I think anything counts as a tackle as long as there’s is no aiming for the head. And in professional levels, I think it is legal to hit a player midair? Take my words with a grain of salt as I’ve been only playing for 1 year
Yeah, what I said about the anything counts as a tackle part.... you don’t need to wrap your arms around to count as a legitimate tackle. You can use your shoulder with no arms, and that could count as a tackle
American football IS tough. The same way Europeans downplay Football because of pads & helmets (that only adds to the carnage. They're not wrapped in pillows) many Americans disregard rugby as "a bunch of guys hugging each other" based on the rugby style of tackling by wrapping your arms around your opponent. Basically just ignorance of both sports....
@@terrencemgentry americans call it "hugging" because they need to boost there egos by talking smack about other countries, america thinks its the best at everything, rugby isnt the roughest toughest sport, but it makes american football look like a fart in an elevator
We play a game called Scrag at schools in NZ. It's basically rugby without rules, where anything goes. Not for the feint of heart. I remember all the brawls we had during my school years where the teachers had to separate all the fighters. Women's rugby is just as aggressive.
Respect to both sports and the players who risk their health and lives playing but the NFL is a collision sport. The rules are different and the helmets and padding are needed.
Best game in the world! Played as a loose-head prop from Schoolboy to veteran and at a senior level too. Broken bones, Concussions, torn muscles & tendons and on several occasions being dragged off to be stitched up and sent back out to play! Brilliant, loved it! Back in the day when punching your opponent was the law and buying him a pint and complementing him on his return punch in the Bar after as the best of friends was all part of the fun.
Back then in NRL you could use just a shoulder with no arms involved. But more players suffered brain injuries So now you have to wrap your arms around their torso to make it a legitimate tackle. Also nothing above the chest otherwise its a “high tackle” and a penalty
The tackle laws are ever changing to protect players from head injuries. Some ex international players are showing signs of the early onset of dementia. Rugby players are much bigger and more powerful than they used to be.
I work in care and have already cared for Wigan, Leeds and other prominent teams players with dementia. Very sad. Even when they’re condition is very advanced, and there’s no more communication if you play their old rugby games their faces light up.
Watch someone like Jonah Lomu, who was Rugbys first Superstar. From what I remember he got offered to play for the Philadelphia Eagles. Watch Jarryd Hay e highlights who was the PR, Running Back for 49ers during their pre season. Worth a watch
In New Zealand growing up we use to play a game called Hits where one person runs it straight at another person and the other person has to try and tackle them while the person with the ball has to try run straight through them. Where the term “run it straight” was coined.

Watching them call Sevu Reeces high tackle at around 4:00 explains why tackling in Rugby is much better than in American football. Rugby is more about getting your man, football is more about the hit.
There is a court case currently going on in the UK involving recently retired rugby players suing their federations because they are now suffering from signs of early dementia in their 40s. While I personally think the risks must be obvious considering you have 250-pound+ guys smashing into each other for 80 mins every weekend during a full season over a 10 to 15 year career, it shows how much long-term damage the tackles you see in these videos can make. I don’t know the situation in NFL but maybe those helmets and pads are a good idea in the long-term.
well as of right now the tackle technique are way more strict because of the damage caused being in higher league or even the tiniest one i get why they are suing them but that's a risk to take also the same subject was brought up numerous time for the nfl because they tackle way less but crash litteraly into each other the pads and helmet really help in that regard because those hit are absorbed kinda like a good tackle to the gut by the shoulder that force you to the ground. both sport have the concussion issue for rugby player the tackle began to be even more strict as for nfl they are teaching proper tackle technique rather than jamming youself to the opposite player.
I agree, and on that point, in the reaction video at 03.46 we have a very clear shoulder charge, that is totally illegal and very bad form and instead they think it is a good one. That's the difference in tackling in American Football and rugby: in the first they crash someway into one and another and in the former they tackle properly
If you wear a helmet you will probably lead with your head in a tackle because of the protection, in rugby league you are taught to tackle correctly with your head to the side. Leading with your head to make a tackle in league and union will guarantee you come out second best with a head ache or knocked out.
until they can come up with a way to get more padding around your actual brain, no amount of padding on the outside is gonna stop the mushy bit from sloppin around in ya brain-bucket... they only find out after you hang up your eatin' irons... The translation for those who don't speak Strayan...the damage is caused when the brain keeps moving, after the body has stopped, and slaps into the inside of the skull... unfortunately, at the moment, this damage can only be fully diagnosed through the autopsy process...
A helmet won't protect the brain from a 'whiplash' type injury, the brain literally is shaken and bounces forward inside the skull. Repeated hits will build up over time and cause brain injuries.
Most of these tackles are illegal - you can’t go in with your shoulder. You have to tackle correctly with both arms and not high. A lot of red cards in this vid.
The US needs rugby players, go find your local team and have some fun. Guaranteed you will love it and get really fit. TH-cam clips are just the 0.1% of the game. Really enjoy your reactions. And yeah, Jonah, what a star. Changed the game.

In my old days playing rugby bk hm in fiji, the last time I remember when I was carrying a ball, and when I woke up I was in the hospital with my c.bone pop out and broken jaw. My doctor said that I'm off the field for about one to two years. But my doctor couldn't believe that I start playing rugby again in two weeks after injury. My mom gave some bush medicine. Until today, my c.bone still off position, but it's more stronger than b4.
I have a friend, he was not a professional Rugby player but he did play back in the day. He is the strongest person I know by a long way. He carried 2 50 kilo beer barrels into my family bar like they were news papers. I'm just glad he's my friend. I saw him pick a big guy up threw him on the bar and knocked fuck out of him. That shit was scary.

We do use mouth guards altho with some of the hits you see, they just come flyin out or in my case, due to the aggression and me being a front row when i was playing i used to chew thru my mouth guard every other game so i stopped wearing them. All the best lads hope you enjoy!
Rugby! A man’s version of American football. 😬 I’m honestly curious, how do you all play with all that unnecessary equipment on? Those helmets alone must block your peripheral vision a great deal. Even with all your “safety” equipment statistics prove the NFL still has more injuries than rugby players. Each to their own I suppose. If you want to see some real hard hitting rugby dig up some clips of Jonah Lomu playing. The man was huge and moved like a speeding freight train. He was one of the best players ever. Sadly he died very suddenly at quite a young age due to a medical condition.
Joe Marler - sang Adele on the Jonathan Ross Show (very funny). Know for being a bit of a loose canon, gets into quite a few fights and very funny character.
I don't know what level you guys play football at but there is a crossover program in colorado, where they take football players and wrestlers etc that didn't quite make the pros and train them to play in a semi pro team. Always another option to look into.
Every kid in my area had to play rugby in school for at least 1 hr a week during school time, starting in the Autumn, through the winter and Spring. Us Welsh kids are brought up tough :)
Friend1: what does it feel like running into a brick wall? Friend2: try and tackle that rugby player. Friend1: alright what does it feel like being hit by a truck? Friend2: take this ball and run at the defence. 3 months later. Friend1: I can finally move my fingers.
Most of these were legal, but some look like red cards and long suspensions. You have to tackle below the shoulder, wrap your arms around the ball carrier, and be careful not to lift and pile-drive them. Hitting someone in the air is a serious offence - trying to hurdle the tackler is banned as well. In American Football, you can tackle in the air, hurdle, tackle high, spear, hit low without wrapping and a host of stuff that would get you sent off in rugby. In every NFL game I watch there are tackles that make me cringe - much more danger of spinal injury or serious concussion in your game. If I had a kid, I wouldn't want them to play the game, to be honest. If they want to reduce neurological injury, the NFL should look at the tackle laws in rugby. It looks brutal, but in practice it's objectively safer.
If your going to react to individual players/ you should definitely react to Joe Marler. He's a very well know prop, who is incredible funny and delivers some very big hits. In a previous video you pointed out he has no neck (Nurses React To The Dark Side Of Rugby), a lot of the lads call him hunchback.
Search Dump tackles you won't be disappointed, glad you like Rugby, I've recently got into American football and wish I would have got into it ealier in life .....both amazing sports
I used to play rugby for my high school in the 90's and although it looks brutal, it's more a pounding on your body than your head, any tackle above the neck is illegal you'll get a yellow card (sin bin, which is you're off for 10 minutes) or a red card (sent off permanently) it's one reason why CTE isn't a big issue in Rugby compared to the NFL, nobody tries to hit with their head unless they're a psychopath, and tackling-wise you use your shoulder and learn where to put your head pretty quickly to make sure it's out of the way, as long as someone tackles below the neck they can hit you as hard as they want and visa-versa
Y'all should check out SA High School rugby highlights. If you think these international professionals are bringing the heat then you ought to watch the youngins.
To be fair, in NZ we start playing rugby from the age of 5yrs, it's our national sport, Sir Wayne "Buck" Shelford will always be a Rugby football legend for going into a maul, losing 3 teeth and having his scrotum slashed with 1 of his nuts exposed, he went onto the sideline, had his nuts sticked up and went back on to play...bloody kiwis for ya eh man 🤘🤘
People to watch RUGBY Jonah Lomu - The man who changed the game! Daniel Carter - The guy who made the game. Richie McCaw Rene Ranger Ma'a Nonu Rugby League Shaun Johnson Roger Tuivasa scheck
I've said this before on another channel. A lot of these clips were taken before all of the rule changes. These were introduced with player welfare in mind. So, a high percentage of these hits would end up with a yellow card, which is 10 minuets on the side lines, or as we call it, in the bin. Or, as some of these hits were more like an assault rather than a tackle, you receive a straight red. Off you go ! In general terms that can lead to a suspension of between 3 & 6 weeks. Just because there have rule changes it is still a game NOT for the faint hearted. Good to see how you guys react to Rugby Union. There is another version of the game which is Rugby League, you will see some tough stuff there as well. Stay safe & greeting from the UK,😁👍👍
We are normally taught the proper techniques of tackling, whether we're tackling the upper body or legs we're taught in such a way where we don't injure ourselves in the process .
At school we had to play rugby, cricket and English football With a blindfolded if we had any sight to be the same as the totally blind at our blind school but the game that was the most scary was goal ball played with a big hard ball with bells in.
As an ex rugby union player 20 years ago I’m pleased to see laws stopping stamping on heads, straight arm tackles, and hopefully soon everyone wearing skull caps. I snapped my right knee and 10 operations later I still can’t walk properly. I love the American football and watch it as often as possible, however I get a bit confused with the plays?????????? I suppose they take a lot of time to learn. Peace be with you guys and safe playing
Thanks for the videos man. I'm from South Africa. If you want to watch an individual from my country check out "Bakkies Botha - Rugby's Biggest Thugs". Absolute monster on the field and someone not to be messed with in the slightest. He would sort you out if you touch him when you are not suppose to.
Rugby is everything, sport and passion, not ridiculous strutting around and telling yourself every 10 seconds what an incredibly tough, great guy you are. These are all part of American football. And always think about the business. You don't find any of that in rugby. They are ALL tough guys and they know it. How long, if at all, would the player playing American football survive on a rugby field, or would they stop playing after 2 minutes?

Agree technique is the winner. NFL could learn something - if they want to. The main purpose of rugby is to train soldiers how to fight for your team mates. If you do that, and carry out your mission, then your team mates will live. If you don’t. You let your whole team down. That’s why this is the perfect soldier sport

If you want to see some real hard hitting rugby dig up some clips of Jonah Lomu playing. The man was huge and moved like a speeding freight train. He was one of the best players ever. Sadly he died very suddenly at quite a young age due to a medical condition.
by pacifiers do you mean gum shield?
you should definitely react to "rugby till I collapse" !
Well done! Greetings from 🇪🇺🇫🇷🇸🇪
Some of these passes are where the expression "hospital pass" comes from.
You receive that pass - and you're going straight to hospital...
Joe Marler - sang Adele on the Jonathan Ross Show (very funny). Know for being a bit of a loose canon, gets into quite a few fights and very funny character.
3:01 I like how they think he’s down and he don’t realize he just scored 😂😅
You should all watch rugby's 50 funniest moments, it is well worth watching.
I am now 70 and I played rugby weekly too, in England. Schools are far more cautious now. Kids were rough and tough back then.
Friend1: what does it feel like running into a brick wall? Friend2: try and tackle that rugby player. Friend1: alright what does it feel like being hit by a truck? Friend2: take this ball and run at the defence. 3 months later. Friend1: I can finally move my fingers.
Look up Shaun Johnson Touch Football highlights for some schooling on foot work boys
Hello gentleman,
there are no rules in rugby! They are called “the laws” of rugby.
From South Africa: We have a school system where we play rugby from a young age, it actually is a wonderful sport.
You should react to “the worst hospital passes”, every tackle a blind side.
Search Dump tackles you won't be disappointed, glad you like Rugby, I've recently got into American football and wish I would have got into it ealier in life .....both amazing sports
LMAO.... Held up arm tackles and half speed collisions. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hey great videos! Whats the intro song man? Its great...
Whatever it takes homie. That’s what it takes.
Y'all should check out SA High School rugby highlights. If you think these international professionals are bringing the heat then you ought to watch the youngins.
Gridon is tough - love to see you guys 'try' it
To be fair, in NZ we start playing rugby from the age of 5yrs, it's our national sport, Sir Wayne "Buck" Shelford will always be a Rugby football legend for going into a maul, losing 3 teeth and having his scrotum slashed with 1 of his nuts exposed, he went onto the sideline, had his nuts sticked up and went back on to play...bloody kiwis for ya eh man 🤘🤘
When will u react to superwog again?
Give Brian O’Driscoll a watch he was an amazing player
Watching individual players then Brian odriscoll is your man to watch

Best rugby fights
Love the rugby videos. keep it up
I've said this before on another channel.
We are normally taught the proper techniques of tackling, whether we're tackling the upper body or legs we're taught in such a way where we don't injure ourselves in the process
.
defs should react to Fiji players and
Jonah lomu 💕💁🏽♀️
Rugby is for real men🏉🏆95 🏉🏆07🏉🏆19
you gotta react to nascar crashes, theyre insane
Can you play this game america whitout protections..
Rugby Skill video next.
Also hows your Armor ?
What do you mean
Rugby, no safety gear...
American football, full body armour plus a helmet and a crotch protector!
At school we had to play rugby, cricket and English football
With a blindfolded if we had any sight to be the same as the totally blind at our blind school but the game that was the most scary was goal ball played with a big hard ball with bells in.
Peace be with you guys and safe playing
nfl is literally set pieces and a break after every hit 😁
Rugby is a real man's sport no pading or helmets
Sonny Bill Williams big hits NRL good watch
I once watched a game and the teams were in a scrum. One of the guys stood up, spat two teeth out and got back into the scrum
Look at Naval Field Gun Competition. 2 teams racing field artillery :)
In South africa, we play rugby very early in school and incredibly popular...
Henry Tuilangi u need to see him a running fridge
Lmaooo that’s pretty heavy
Trust me when u see him you’ll understand
if you catch the ball inthe air - your feet must be on the ground before youre tackled, the timing is everything
Oh I can concur with that. Similar to Edben Etzibeth.
Rugbyatchbis easy to start hard to stop and can never be forgotten
Rugby is everything, sport and passion, not ridiculous strutting around and telling yourself every 10 seconds what an incredibly tough, great guy you are. These are all part of American football. And always think about the business. You don't find any of that in rugby. They are ALL tough guys and they know it. How long, if at all, would the player playing American football survive on a rugby field, or would they stop playing after 2 minutes?
Boys, keep watching rugby for girls. You know it as NHL.
You boys like this?! Y'all should watch Wheelchair Rugby! Or Sled Hockey!
Must REACT: (UK DRILL) react wit yo boys!
Abra Cadabra: Mixed Emotions, Spin this coupe, Daily Duppy(2021), On Deck
Digga D: 2k17 and No diet
Tion Wayne: Wid it and I dunno
We played rugby from age 6years in school boys and girls played on the same teams great days
Played rugby with broken noses and broken ribs and played against Jeremy Guscott (England centre) at school you just deal with the injuries and carry on.
You guys need to do rugby till I collapse
Rugby? It’s brilliant! 80 minutes of. Kick off, catch, ruck, mail, lineout, tackle, run the ball, tackle. Once done this? Get up and do it again! 😅
Hey Krusty Vlog gang been waiting for BTS reaction videos.
A lot of those tackles would be straight reds now.
Agree technique is the winner. NFL could learn something - if they want to. The main purpose of rugby is to train soldiers how to fight for your team mates. If you do that, and carry out your mission, then your team mates will live. If you don’t. You let your whole team down. That’s why this is the perfect soldier sport
