The common saying about Steely Dan: "This is your favorite band's favorite band". The only group I know of for which the expression "They never made a bad song" is literally true.

steely dan consists of two main front members, and every other player is brought in individually to serve the song, depending on what is required for feel and musicality. On each album there will be 2,3 or 4 drummers, guitarist, keys, bass, etc.... This is why they have a unique and distinctive sound/approach with each album/song

The best words to describe Steely Dan are tight and precise. They make NO mistakes and their music is a variety in itself. Go down this rabbit hole and you won’t be disappointed!

Micheal McDonald was one of the backing singers on this song. He was all over the place in the 70s and early 80s. (As well as front man for the late incarnation of "The Doobie Brothers".

I love your many facial expressions when you listen to music!! This is one of the many bands we used to dance to back in the day where every Saturday evening the teenagers in our community would meet down at the "Rec" (recreation center) or high school gym & have dance-offs & try out new dance moves we learned from watching "American Bandstand."

Steely Dan's "Peg" originated from a blues riff that Donald Fagen was working on at home in Malibu in 1976. The song's lyrics were inspired by an idea Fagen had about a starlet with starlet fever who ditches her boyfriend on her way to stardom. The song is told from the perspective of the jilted boyfriend at a seedy 1950s photo shoot in Los Angeles.

Yes, that was Michael McDonald on the background vocals in Peg. He was still with the Doobie Brothers, and did that with Donald Fagen and Walter Becker for their album Aja.
The Steely San rabbit hole is a fabulous dive, with Do It Again, Black Cow, among others.

back up vocals was all he was truly good at, his leads suck and he ruined the Doobie's when he was with them. Just my opinion but Steely Dan was both great and special. R I P Walter Becker.

Steely Dan is comprised from the best studio musicians in the world. And I do believe every song that they've ever done was amazing. You really should do a lot more steely Dan including a small bit of research into their name which is very funny. As a guitarist my favorite steely Dan songs are . "Do it again" and " reelin the years " because of the AMAZING guitar work. Took me a long time to get closes to the solos in theses song❤

Steely Dan was a couple of studio musicians that decided to form their own band. The 2 studio musicians names are Donald Fegan ( vocals & piano ) & Walter Becker ( lead guitarist) they formed what I'd call a rock/jazz group with a little R & B into the mix and out came Steely Dan.

Steely Dan was known for being musical perfectionists. Their records are clean and precise: their album “Aja” is still used by audio experts to test out new speakers. Another good rabbit hole. Check out “Deacon Blues”, “Babylon Sisters”, “FM”, “Hey Nineteen”, or “My Old School”, all great ones.
The heart of the band was Walter Becker and Donald Fagan. Everyone else you hear playing are studio musicians, the best of the best.
Oh, and the band took their name from an old nickname for *ahem*, a “marital aid”. Not kidding. 😜😝😝

I’m at 2:36 seconds. and I’ve already seen you smiling and you stuck your tongue out twice. I love your facial expressions the way you’re moving. Your voice is sexy and beautiful and your input is why I watch these videos, but I like the music but most of all, it’s all you the facial expressions in your tongue coming out like that makes me wanna hug you and dance with you. I wish you would teach me some dance moves I no you have a lot to do but I dream of you teaching me some moves and my being able to walk up to you and give you a thank you hug and kiss on the face or on the hand or both. I know you’re too busy to read all I have and I do go on, but I don’t mean for it to be so long. God bless you. Right now I have a pause so I can compose this and looks like you’re smiling and your cheekbones are pronounced just beautiful. I’m watching for a second time just to see a move again. Hear your voice.
