A symbol of women power, a daughter like her father who was one of the greatest commander-in-chief Hambir Rao Mohite and Daughter in Law of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj had personally asked her hand for his beloved brother by seeing a spark within her. Tara bai was greatest in fight with the Mughals but in her last years her involvement in petty politics has damaged Maratha strength. Due to her politics Nanasaheb Peshwa never left Chatrapati Rajaram II alone in Maharashtra. Due to his protection Peshwa became virtually ruler which resulted in annihilation of Maratha Navy. If good administrator and shrewd mind of Nanasaheb was in North during 1758-59 then unlike Raghunath Rao he would have consolidated Maratha power in the north after capturing Attock.

Well narrated by Aneesh but the fact was that the whole 27 Years battle of Marathas against Aurangzeb was way fierce than any battle in Asia at that time. Most importantly Aurangzeb got known that "it's too late now, and Mughals have lost the battle not only with Marathas but they even lost all of India. . On 20 January 1696 near Baswapattan, Santaji attacked, defeated, and personally killed the Mughal Sardar Himmat Khan. After this defeat "Mughals" use to terrify by the name of Santaji ghorpade even by his name"Mughals" used to "pisss" into their pants. Santaji had bravely defeated and captured Zulfiqar Khan another important Mughal Sardar. After the death of Aurangzeb Marathas started capturing entire India from Mughals(1707-1818 till British took all India)

I think mainstream history has been pretty rough on Maharani Tarabai b'cos after the death of Aurangzeb, she was involved in a succession war w/ Shahu and then her own co-wife and stepson. Later, she came into direct conflict w/ Balaji Vishwanath. Since the first 2 Peshwas - Balaji Vishwanath and Baji Rao I - were really great, she suffers as a result of being on the wrong side of them
Maharani Tarabai was a very far sighted lady ,she knew that Shahu the grandson of Cht Shivaji will not not do justice to the Hindvi Swaraj ideology so she opposed but she was betrayed by his own ppl , and her doubt turned into reality coz as Shahu was adopted by the most loved daughter of aurangzeb he had lots of soft corner for her and aurangzeb, he used to visit aurangzeb's tomb every year to offer his shradhanjali to that bigot

In fact, there was even a Maratha siege of Jaipur, which did _not_ end up in saka. And the Rajputs managed their own revenge on them shortly after It's notable that even during islamic dominance, Hindu kingdoms continued fighting amongst each other. Most notable one that comes to mind is Krishnadeva Raya of Vijayanagar vs Prataparudra of Kalinga

But Maharani Tarabai lost that kingdom to her sautan (I'm impressed by how many ambitious women Rajaram had married) and in her later years, returned to Satara to reunite w/ Shahu

Well narrated by Aneesh but the fact was that the whole 27 Years battle of Marathas against Aurangzeb was way fierce than any battle in Asia at that time. Most importantly Aurangzeb got known that "it's too late now, and Mughals have lost the battle not only with Marathas but they even lost all of India. . On 20 January 1696 near Baswapattan, Santaji attacked, defeated, and personally killed the Mughal Sardar Himmat Khan. After this defeat "Mughals" use to terrify by the name of Santaji ghorpade even by his name"Mughals" used to "pisss" into their pants. Santaji had bravely defeated and captured Zulfiqar Khan another important Mughal Sardar. After the death of Aurangzeb Marathas started capturing entire India from Mughals(1707-1818 till British took all India)

I think mainstream history has been pretty rough on Maharani Tarabai b'cos after the death of Aurangzeb, she was involved in a succession war w/ Shahu and then her own co-wife and stepson. Later, she came into direct conflict w/ Balaji Vishwanath. Since the first 2 Peshwas - Balaji Vishwanath and Baji Rao I - were really great, she suffers as a result of being on the wrong side of them
Maharani Tarabai was a very far sighted lady ,she knew that Shahu the grandson of Cht Shivaji will not not do justice to the Hindvi Swaraj ideology so she opposed but she was betrayed by his own ppl , and her doubt turned into reality coz as Shahu was adopted by the most loved daughter of aurangzeb he had lots of soft corner for her and aurangzeb, he used to visit aurangzeb's tomb every year to offer his shradhanjali to that bigot

One note about Aurangzeb's conquests of Bijapur and Golconda: it was driven by his anti-shi'a fanaticism. Both Bijapur and Golconda were Bahmani sultanates that were shi'a, and the only 2 of the 5 original breakaway sultanates of Ahmadnagar, Berar, Bidar, Bijapur and Golconda

@Vinay A Very true! In fact, in the aftermath of Nader Shah's invasion, the Maratha conquests of North India continued, and included Hindu fiefdoms as well. In fact, there was even a Maratha siege of Jaipur, which did _not_ end up in saka. And the Rajputs managed their own revenge on them shortly after
It's notable that even during islamic dominance, Hindu kingdoms continued fighting amongst each other. Most notable one that comes to mind is Krishnadeva Raya of Vijayanagar vs Prataparudra of Kalinga

@@nileshsingh4206 The Kolhapur dynasty was created w/ good intentions, and actually could have done a good job sweeping up the remnants of Bijapur, where the Adil Shahi sultanate was destroyed by Aurangzeb but which the Mughals relinquished after his death, and particularly after the implosion of the empire up north. But Maharani Tarabai lost that kingdom to her sautan (I'm impressed by how many ambitious women Rajaram had married) and in her later years, returned to Satara to reunite w/ Shahu
